The first time he entered the stall with the intent of pulling a tooth, luckily I stopped him before he completed the task. The second time he started the visit by reprimanding me for not getting 8 cavities filled at my last visit, again he had mixed up my chart with another patient. The last straw was when at a visit I told him I had been waking up in the morning with a tense jaw and was afraid that I had developed night time grinding and asked for recommendations on how to manage it. He rolled his eyes and said, "just stop". Not exactly the most helpful suggestion for managing an involuntary activity when you're asleep. I switched dentists and discovered that I have a misalignment contributing to night time bruxism which was treated with a bite guard and adjustment.

Going to the dentist has never enthused me. In fact, I ignored them most of my life. Luckily, I…read morenever needed them until I reached my fifties. My first experiences were at a corporate style of office. They pretty much did as expected. "Let's pull this one and that one, even if they'll still last you a few years. We need to make money and show corporate we're worth our salt." I vowed never to return to them. The last year brought forth a gum disease that attacked my top teeth. I went to a dentist in Ellettsville who did nothing but take X-Rays and send me to a specialist in Bloomington ... who also did nothing. So, much for my dental coverage limits for last year. When the new year arrived, I was so frustrated that I waited until one tooth ended up breaking off before looking for another dentist to try. I surprisingly discovered the incident classified as an emergency and allowed me to forego the standard two-month wait that new patients generally found waiting. It was pure luck that I found the Gosport Dental Clinic in a Facebook county chatroom being recommended by many. I called, set an appointment, and was pleasantly taken care of by Dr. Barbara LaMere-Heck. For the first time ever, I was treated as a human being instead of a cash cow. In fact, even though the gum disease was recognized, there was absolutely no attempt to prey upon the circumstances and set future appointments. I was shocked. A week or so later, I made the decision to pursue treatment. All of my top teeth needed removing and the options of dentures or implants discussed. I set another appointment and proceeded to get the problems out of the way. Working with an extremely short time span, as I had many commitments to exhibit my books at various shows and special events, I found I was well taken care of in every aspect. The friendliness of the entire staff goes beyond any expectations in today's world. Each and every one of the group needs to be heartily congratulated and appreciated. Would I recommend the clinic? Yes, but only if you want to be treated with professional care, friendliness, and complete respect. I've recommended the clinic to many and will continue to do so. This is a special place, one that reminds you of the way things were and how people were treated before corporations took over the medical and dental industries and extreme profits became the primary goal. At Gosport Dental Clinic, taking care of the patient properly is the only goal. It's the way is should be and the way it is. Five stars out of five stars ... they earn it honestly.

The oral hygienists are super friendly, conscious, dextrous and caring. He was very gentle at pulling out a healthy tooth I didn't want anymore. He didn't recommend it but I hated the food getting stuck in there. He pulled it out with literally no pain or anything. Sometimes they clean your teeth with the water jet which signals every nerve in your body to sense pain but afterwards, it is worth it. I recommend this place 100% and I hate the orthodontist. I really like him because he's always straight to the point, very knowledgeable, and cool.

I am one of those people who has a fear of dentists. Blame my childhood dentist back in Gary,…read moreIndiana whose nickname was "the butcher". So, don't judge, but I had not been to the dentist in nearly two years, since I moved to Bloomington from California. I loved my dentist in California and so I took my time finding a dentist in Bloomington. (plus I just didn't want to go) Dr Arnold's reviews were glowing, and even though my partner has a different dentist here in B-town, I decided to try Dr Arnold based on Yelp reviews. The office is a bit hard to find if you aren't familiar with the Eastside of town. It is sort of behind the now-closed Marsh store, in a mini mall next to a dance studio and a waxing salon. Plenty of parking in the lot. Courtney was my hygienist today and she was wonderful. She listened to my ramblings about how much I hate the dentist. She was mellow and I felt like she gave my teeth a very thorough cleaning. She was just the right combination of quiet and talkative during the cleaning. (my hygienist in California was very chatty and it's hard to answer questions with sharp instruments in your mouth). There is a tv on the ceiling so you can watch while you have your cleaning. Courtney caught on fast that the show on the History channel was about mass murderers (not a very calming show) and she switched the channel to ESPN for me. Next Dr Arnold (Bill) came in and introduced himself. He was great. Very down to earth and approachable. We chatted a bit about California and then he began his exam. Again, great exam and he gave me advice about some tooth sensitivity I have been experiencing. Next appointment is six months from now and even though I will still be freaked out, I won't be AS freaked out. Definitely recommend. If you have been putting off a dental exam, go see Dr Arnold.

The woman at the front desk acted like I was crazy out of my mind for saying I had an appointment today . They offered no apologies. and made no attempt to reschedule. They did tell me that I could wait an hour because the hygienist had a patient at 12:30, which was supposed to be me. Prior to this, I had billing problems with them. One time they didn't bill my insurance. When questioned, they said it was because the image of the card I sent them was blurry. Instead of telling me that it was blurry and asking me to send a new one, they just didn't bill insurance and kept sending me bills. ??? I sent a new clearer image to the 2-to-3 different phone numbers they told me to text it to and I guess one of them finally worked and they billed insurance. Then they told me there was a balance still due so I called and the woman, and over the phone she said the remaining balance was $23 so I paid it. Two days later I got a bill for $44. It's just these weird expenses and a very disorganized scheduling and building system. Today the woman at the front desk, even though I was clearly upset when I left shouted "have a nice day!" after me in a passive aggressive way. The hygienist I had was good but the billing and front desk staff are unacceptably bad. I'm happy to be moving.
