This is literally the worst experience I have had with a dental office. They completely submitted an insurance claim on my daughter for my filling and charged me full uninsured pricing at the time of payment. Since then, they have given me the runaround with my reimbursement check and have yet to refund my service I had done on MAY 3rd! I've had to call them multiple times, and everyone they say they will get it to me on a different date. This is mishandling of finances at best, and theft at its worst. DO NOT GO HERE! I go in for a checkup and need dental work + I want to see about a cosmetic gum issue. They say "ok, we'll get you scheduled." But the dentist forgot to tell me about my cosmetic gum issue so the hygienist says she'll just call me later because I'm in a rush to get home. They call me later and let me know the dentist would take care of my gum free of charge when I come in for my cavity fill. Awesome. Wow. That's super nice. I had this lopsided smile my entire life and now here's my first gift from the universe.... like ever. So I come in for the dental work and the gum thing. So the first time I'm numbed, the doctor is to fill two cavities, between teeth today..... he drills....and before the hygienists fills them the doctor says "so I saw some other decay in another tooth so we're going to fill that one too, for free.... to get you taken care of. Plus one was really deep so let us know if it gets sensitive plus extra nerve stuff for you. "My god. The universe is on my side? How can this be? Also, why for free? Why not just tell me? But I'm naive and people underestimate my age which made me a perfect target I guess. But it gets better...... My tooth ached for days and my jaw was sore for almost a week. It was so sore that when I went back for the next cavity fill I had to tell the hygienist that he pushed down so hard on my mouth my throat was sore. Could he be more gentle next time? Why didn't I complain earlier? Well....my gum was fixed for free and I could show my smile in pictures again. Woot. I just never had been in the position to ask when I was in grad school. Now with real insurance and a full salary, here I am getting my gum fixed and what do ya know???? It's free!!!! Wow. (Mentioned naive. Right?) Except it wasn't free and he billed my insurance for $800 for a gum laser surgery. He just didn't charge me. But before I found that out I went for my last cavity fill.... and the dentist drilled and when he was done he said "so I saw some other decay in another tooth so we're going to fill that one too, we'll charge your insurance but we won't charge you a copay. Plus one was really deep, so let us know if it gets sensitive and extra nerve stuff for you." Sounds familiar. Suddenly the weight of my naivety hit me. What I should have said was, "that's the second time you drilled a hole in my head without my consent first." Followed by, "I don't need you to do anything for free or eyeball decay that's so big you missed it on an X-ray." And later is should have said "billing my insurance isn't free." But now, one year later.... now that I'm having to replace four teeth in my early 30s.... all that were worked in by this dentist... "free" is the most costly thing I have ever experienced. So super nice. But super deceptive. Not ethical. And in the end the work. Was. Awful. ***edited: classy. You remember me that well? Smh. This was NOT the result of a miscommunication or confusion. I've been a patient here for several years, and have been pleased on the whole. I've only had one hygienist that I didn't care for, and the rest have been amazing. Dr. Tschetter fixed some bad dental work that I had gotten at a previous dentist, and was very generous in not charging me for a filling that was damaged. I recommend! read more

Once again my appointment at Jackson Creek Dental was great!! From the moment I was greeted by the front staff through my cleaning and the exam, everyone was extremely professional and friendly. I have been a long time patient at Jackson Creek Dental. Several weeks ago, I saw Dr. Tschetter's new Associate, Dr. Hoy for a filling. I've had fillings in the past, but none of them were quite as brutal as this one was. She's very nice and she told me to raise my hand if I was in any pain or discomfort. I tried to do that, but she kept drilling anyway. Needless to say, the right side of my mouth hurt for several days after that filling and it still tingles a bit. I've had wonderful experiences with Dr. Tschetter in the past and I feel bad to leave a two star review, but I have to be honest how painful that experience with Dr. Hoy was. read more

I am newer to Bloomington and always find it difficult finding new doctors, however, Jackson Creek Dental made it a smooth transition. Dr. Tschetter and his team are amazing at their jobs and know what they are doing. I am always comfortable not only while getting my teeth taken care of, but also in the waiting room. They have the comfiest sitting area while you wait. They are fantastic about getting you in in case of an emergency and are super flexible. I know many people do not like the dentist, but this place makes me not afraid of going to the dentist. I highly recommend this dentist office to anyone I know in the Bloomington area. Some offices take in patients, treat them, and then take care of any insurance issues or concerns. YOUR office wants insurance information FIRST. Your staff couldn't figure out my insurance which was perfectly valid and so I was turned away. You weren't there so I don't know what you can say to that. The dentist I went to right after treated me right away and only after that did they ask me for all the information that you wanted up front. That's how the health industry should be, don't you think? Treat the sick when they are sick and not concern yourself with money first. read more

This place is great! The staff is friendly and accomodating, the dentists are caring and kind, they got me right in for a toothache, and the appointments are always right on time. I have a bad needle phobia, and they were all understanding. Even had the option of oral sedation when I needed several cavities filled. It was really a good experience! read more

Went here for regular teeth clean up. Dr. Tschetter recommended that he extract all of my wisdom teeth. The way he told me I thought something was wrong with them. I was just talking to a friend of mine and he told me that if they were perfectly fine and had no issues there is no need to take them out. That prompted me to do some research of my own. I am literally depressed now. In order to charge me and my insurance he simply took out 4 of my healthy teeth. I am so pissed off right now. There was no need whatsoever to take them out. They never bothered me. What a mistake. If only I could go back in time. Please learn my my mistake and don't agree on taking out yours just simply because he recommends it. Note: This is the same team that runs Bloomington Dental Group on the west side of town. My wife has gone here a number of times and always had a good experience. These guys are AWESOME. I have had more than 10 fillings here (unfortunately for me). They have been very accommodating and friendly and have helped with scheduling to get them all done in less than a year. I broke a tooth and needed a crown in short order and they were able to get me in within the week. They make their crowns on site with newer technology so I didn't have to be numbed up twice. They really know what they are doing and are the best dentists I have ever had. I would highly recommend them! read more

Good service. Clean facility and seems to know what they are doing. One downside is they always charge you upfront for things that your insurance may cover (ie. I have gotten $600 in refunds / credits once the insurance pays them back). This is the only thing I don't like but otherwise they are usually prompt in getting to you (not a long wait) and do a good job. read more

Just went there this morning, for a regular examination. The staff were efficient and nice. The assistant helped me with the X-ray and cleaning. Everything was wonderful. The best part was that I finally figured out what caused my jaw joint and chewing muscle pain. I have two molars hidden in the gum, horizontally... well I just scheduled a surgery to take them out. I think this place will be my choice of regular exam and cleaning. read more

Dr. Tschetter is a wonderful dentist and does his job very well. The cleaning and restorative work we've received from his office is of high quality. However, the front office is simply incompetent. They have trouble handling/understanding insurance claims and can become quite unfriendly when you catch their mistakes. They will proceed to call you rude when you tell them they are wrong and refuse to pay for things you do not owe (as a matter of fact, they currently owe us money since we had to prepay for some services). It's a shame that we have to switch to a different office because we really like Dr. Tschetter. We even scheduled some more operations in advance for next year. But when the front desk becomes increasingly hostile every time you call and wants to turn you away, there is not much you can do but to find a new dental office. Although we give a one star based on our experience with the front office. We still highly recommend Dr. Tschetter if you do not mind the trouble of having to deal with his front office. read more

My last trip to Jackson Creek was when it was Dr Rutledge's practice. I was always pleased with his service and the two Doctors who took over seem to have picked right up where he started. The front office staff is very friendly. Comfortable waiting room. They have the new type of x-rays where you can just do it sitting in the same exam chair. They have little televisions so you can get your CNN fix (or perhaps to distract). The doctor who saw me was short and to the point, but that's how I like it...I never felt rushed, and never felt like I couldn't ask questions. A dental visit is never going to be pleasant per se, but the staff here does whatever they can to help. read more

I busted my front teeth out through falling on concrete. Being a college girl, I have always looked to my teeth to give me confidence, I called the next day and they were able to see me for an emergency appointment. The dentist that I was scheduled with was newer, she watched patiently and let the other dentist handle it. Most brand new people would not be able to pass it off so easily, but I am so thankful she used this as a learning experience. They put a bar on my teeth and scheduled to see me in 3 weeks. My teeth are back to perfect and they did not perform a root canal as scheduled as my nerve does not need it at the time. This dental practice works with integrity, they could have very easily performed a root canal and ran with the money. I am so thankful to have gone to such an honest and patient practice.
