***P.K. Wadsworth heating/ cooling co.***…read more My home's A/C stopped blowing cold air last night. "A P.K. Wadsworth" technician showed up at my door around 4:00 p.m. and pinpointed the problem without any hesitation in just a minute, without running any tests. I give him an A+ for quickly identifying the issue. The problem was a failed A/C capacitor. He looked at his tablet to determine the replacement cost and told me it would be $100 for the service call and $400 to replace the capacitor total 500. plus tax. I was shocked that the company wanted to charge $400 to replace a part that costs around $20 and is connected with only a couple of wires. I declined the repair, paid the $100 service fee plus $8 in tax , and then headed to Home Depot. I bought the exact same capacitor for $22.95 which was the most expensive one, (price range: $13.99-$22.95). I got back home and installed it myself in just a couple of minutes. The unit was back up and running, blowing cold air like new. Lesson learned: Some companies will overcharge you right in front of your eyes. Before accepting any estimate or proposal, take your time and do a little research. I understand that DIY repairs are not for everyone, but having access to the internet, YouTube, AI, and other resources can help you gather enough information to make an informed decision. With all due respect to the many honest workers in our community, these days many contractors, mechanic shops, dealerships, some organizations, and others will try to charge you as much as they possibly can. Be careful, and think twice if something doesn't make sense. I will post this review anywhere I can to let people know about my experience with this company.

After moving into my new property and having my boiler system maintained there was a flood due to many system failures on that boiler that the service tech didn't correct. Not only was there no accountability but I was charged an egregious amount to fix these issues and when given the opportunity to correct this for a long time client due to their error, they chose not to. Unfortunately loyalty has not been valued here and so my business will be taken elsewhere.

And with the $200 call out charge for absolutely no help at all, he got screwed.

As it turns out we just had a faulty thermostat. They were honest and thorough to make sure everything was working, and priced fairly for an "emergency" visit. 100% recommend. We will use them for ongoing maintenance and wellness checks, as we have two other furnaces in our house.

Guy comes out, looks at the setup while standing 3 feet away and says it is good. He did not check the main water line for cracks or looseness, he did not manually check the clamps for tightness, and he really didn't do anything. $100 for that call. Fast forward a week (and I'm now on vacation) and I'm informed my garage has water seeping from under the garage door. Yep, a loose fitting came apart and water was running freely for a couple of days. My daughter came over and shut the pump off. Called Jennings and they sent a guy over to reconnect what they failed to secure (in my opinion). What a mess I found upon my return. They are unwilling to help with repairs after sharing my concerns and shock. So to you my friends, think on these set of facts before calling.
