While it's nice to be in a smaller stadium for great views, the crowd control for concessions is non-existent. When I asked for popcorn that was warm, the customer service person did nothing. The beverage machines were disgusting and out of options yet I paid $7. The website said no blankets yet everyone had brought theirs in and we froze. Poor customer experience!

I love Vandy so I hate to give a mediocre rating to their football stadium. Vanderbilt has a beautiful campus and top-notch academics but is probably the one school in the SEC that does not invest in updating their football stadium. The stadium is outdated and just doesn't compare to its rivals (LSU and UTK are among the top in the US). The capacity is a little over 40,000 people and when we saw them play Ole Miss it seemed that about half the fans were for the other team. The fans are really relaxed here, which is so different from the roars and bellows of fans elsewhere. Everyone is polite and orderly for the most part. Vanderbilt's football team does not have the same die-hard fanbase as other SEC schools. This definitely makes for a quieter atmosphere. I did not feel crowded in the bleacher seats we had but they were uncomfortable. The food/drink options are okay (they have popcorn, barbecue, nachos, etc.) but also do not compare to stadiums elsewhere. We stopped by the Puckett's barbecue to get a soda and the employees were super nice and helpful. Bathrooms were easy to find and were clean. Only cold water in the faucets and again they were outdated. Staff are so fantastic! They are very nice and helpful. Customer service seems like a top priority. Overall, the feeling here just doesn't match the excitement and fervor of other SEC football stadiums. Vanderbilt does not value football in the same way that other SEC schools do and it shows with the stadium.

SEC football nights are the best!

This is quite possibly one of the oldest and most cramped SEC stadiums in all of college football. The entrances are decent with lots of options to come into the stadium from all around the venue, but the rest of the experience is just sub-par at best. The "hallways" around the sides of the stadium are impressively cramped, with barely any room to walk when the place gets busy. The restrooms are constantly backed up due to their small size and limited locations. The concession lines are out-of-control during games/halftime/other peak operating times. But let's move on to the seating, shall we?? Their outdated, 70-year-old aluminum bleacher-style seats are horrible. Just horrible. They're 400 degrees in the hot summer sun, expressly uncomfortable for long periods of time (even with stadium seats/cushions), and the aisles are so cramped and jammed together, there is NO knee room for an average-sized male. My knees spend the entire game on the back of the poor folks in front of me, and when someone wants to come down the aisle in front of me to get to their seat, I can't just twist to the side and allow them to pass... no, I have to get up and lean back into the folks behind me to make enough room. I'm not kidding, these aisles are TINY. The concessions themselves are ok. Just your average stadium/game-day food. Hamburgers, hotdogs, popcorn, peanuts, drinks, fries, etc. There are other options as you walk around, but everything starts to get expensive from there. $6 lemonades, $6 chick-fil-a sandwiches, $8 personal pizzas, $5 sno-cones... A handful of other options. All just decent, not spectacular, rather expensive, etc. All this mixed with the good-ole-South's commitment to not allow alcohol sales in most SEC stadiums (archaic lawmakers and geriatric management), makes for an atmosphere that pleads with you to eat/drink before or after the game elsewhere, as there are SO MANY BETTER places to dine/drink in the immediate vicinity rather than wasting $$ on standard-average arena food. Also of note, the sound system sucks. The speakers are only on the end of the field with the (rather large, and very nicely renovated) jumbotron, which means that if you sit on the opposite side of the stadium (which we do), you likely won't be able to clearly hear the game commentators and/or any annoucements.

This would be a great high school stadium, but unfortunately Vandy is in the SEC. This may be the worst SEC football game experience one can go to. Highlights - Very small stadium (40,000 capacity) - 1/3 to 1/2 of the fans will be for the opposing team - Horrible game day logistics from concession stands to restrooms - Tailgating is awful. It's like they don't want you to tailgate. Hassle finding a good tailgate spot that allows you to drink. - Game day atmosphere is like a Conference USA experience. The pros are - Vandy does have a nice campus - At least you are in Nashville which is always a good time

This is a great environment to catch an SEC game. I know Vanderbilt has fallen off this season, but nonetheless, the stadium is fun. They have a merchandise area and snack areas. Note: This is a dry arena and they don't sell any booze. This is the crazy arena that has the raised court floors when you watch it on TV. If in the area and a big college basketball fan, it's worth a visit!

Went to the Beyoncè and Jay Z on the run tour 2. It was great. However the security was terrible. CSC. They only had a tiny gate open on the side with only one ticket scanner. They asked people to leave their bags outside. I had a $400 bag and refused to leave that outside. There were no ropes or pat downs or metal detectors but were worried about what was in a small purse. Security needed to be better all around. Beyoncé however was great.

What fun! Before graduate school I was never exposed to college football culture. Sure, Vandy isn't the best team in the SEC but I recently attended a game and I actually had a lot of fun. The stadium is clean and the sound system is fantastic. It is easy to get around, find your seat and get out. There is a grassy knoll for seating just at the edge of the field as an alternative seating option to the traditional aluminum bleachers but with the crowd and updated visual effects you are sure to have a good time. As far as beverages and food, it is going to get expensive. Alcohol is not served but I would highly recommend packing a flask of your favored beverage of choice and spending the $4.50 on frozen lemonade!

Went to the Vanderbilt- Wake Forest game. They ran out of food before half time! No hot dogs, no pizza, no hamburgers! What? Small stadium, tight seating.

Masters of the Summer Music games are here!

Do you like thought-provoking and high-quality foreign films?…read more You could certainly catch a show at Nashville's appealing Belcourt Theatre (http://www.belcourt.org/) -- but did you also know that Vanderbilt has an International Lens series of films that it shows for FREE on its campus?! Here's the link to this season's lineup - http://www.vanderbilt.edu/internationallens/ Tonight I saw a tragic and thought-provoking Austrian film about Jewish counterfeiters working in a Nazi concentration camp during WWII (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813547). Sure, perhaps I could have borrowed the film from the library, but Vanderbilt gave me the opportunity to see it on the big screen along with a brief introduction and post-show discussion led by a German professor. And did I mention this was free?! Gosh I love living near a major university that is willing to open its arms to the surrounding community and share its cultural largess. Thank you, Vanderbilt! What else...seats are comfy and the theater is clean, but don't expect stadium seating or cup holders. Sarratt Cinema is very nice, but not particularly fancy, ostentatious or luxurious. There was a limited selection of snacks and candies available at the door. I didn't get any, but I did notice that they had some sort of special deal where you could get a free popcorn if you purchased any other concession. Some other audience members took advantage of that offer. As you might expect from the venue, the audience seemed erudite and was well-behaved during the film. The cinema is on a lower level of the Sarratt Student Center (http://www.vanderbilt.edu/studentcenters/sarratt-student-center). If you're not already familiar with its location, you may want to plan on arriving a little early to find your way around and find someplace to park. So c'mon and take a cinematic trip around the world through the magic of film and the International Lens series @ Sarratt Cinema! What did Siskel and Ebert always used to say? "Until next time, the balcony is closed." (Er, only there is no actual balcony at Sarratt Cinema. But you get the idea. Work with me, people. Work with me. Yelpover and out.)

The campus is beautiful especially with recent state of the art renovations and the staff that I have encountered were all very passionate about leveraging a student's, artistic, intellectual and athletic potential. As we all know education is a major issue in our country but this school appears to be part of the elite schools that offer an outstanding educational experience from grade school through high school graduation. It's going to cost you though, with grade school tuition at around $16,000 a year and high-school hovering at $18,000.... you must invest or pray to god they offer your student financial aid which is available. The good news is USN gives over $1.8 million in need-based financial aid to 18% of the students. Even attending the Artclectic event showcased how USN truly invests into it's educational model and really stands out from the pack of sub-par schools that are unfortunately part of the thread of the city.

In fact, there is no food here whatsoever although it's very common to order food at Red's next door and have them deliver it to you as you nurse your beer and look for this mysterious supper club and lounge. Beer is all they serve here. Even the soft drinks come from a vending machine. Just beer. Cash only. The somewhat stern looking and tough acting barkeep told someone that this is a "music venue" because they have two live shows a night. I guess I can get behind that but during the day, this is Tennessee's oldest bar and there is no music playing inside at all, no radio, no nothing. It's extremely rough around the edges (the ceiling is heavily stained and more warped than not) but most of the customers are tourists who did NOT do their homework and didn't realize it's CASH ONLY. There's an ATM inside, so I guess you have to pay the high transaction fee, fool. It's divey looking for sure but a real dive bar has scary locals inside and not 75% tourists with their fanny packs. And absolutely, please do order a Red's hot chicken sandwich next door and have them deliver it to you at Springwater. It's the best hot chicken sandwich you'll have in Nashville.
