I went to Vance Thompson office for a condition called keratoconus and I could not believe the extreme wonderful care that I received. Prior to my appointment, I made a couple calls to inquire about appointment times, insurance questions, procedure reviews for the consultation to the surgery. EVERY person and EVERY question was so thorough! Day of consultation, waiting area was beautiful, many complimentary drinks and treats were provided. The check in staff; helpful courteous, organized and made me feel welcomed! Jess was the blessing of a person I got to work with next! Oh, my gracious, beyond professional and personable!! I could believe how efficient she was in running through all the tests on my eyes and the questions ~ she knew all the right things to ask and ALWAYS making me feel so taken care of for what I was going through!! She was top notch smart about all my questions and her bubbly, infectious personality had me laughing (relaxed) often! Dr. Schweitzer was who saw me and he was thorough in all his explanations, yet elementary in his verbiage so I could all follow along closely. Then Jaimie came in to talk about insurance and paperwork. Again, so delightful and made every question that I had so easily understood!! Dr. Berdahl came in next and also answered more questions!! From start to finish, I was SUPER beyond impressed with every aspect of this business!! Each and every person made me feel truly appreciated and valued. Another employee, Mel, I believe she works in marketing and public relations, made sure that we were well taken care of during our visit!! Two weeks ago I had Lasik surgery at Vance Thompson Vision. I was overwhelmingly impressed with the whole experience. Scheduling was a breeze with their friendly staff. I even had to reschedule an appointment and they graciously found me another appointment within the same week. And I have never been to any medical appointment with such a personal touch and friendliness in their service, right down to my favorite radio station playing in each exam room I was in. I was a little nervous for the surgery itself. But the staff answered my questions and concerns and even Dr. Thompson himself talked with me more than one time to reassure me. The surgery took around 15 minutes for both eyes. There was no pain. Dr. Thompson and staff were verbally reassuring me and giving clear instructions throughout. As soon as i walked out of the office i could see. For the first few hours it was a bit blurry, like looking through a dirty window, but i could tell i could see. When i woke up the next morning i could read the plaque on the wall across my bedroom. And every once in a while the amazement still runs through my mind, "I can see! I can really see!" It has been almost six months since I had my LASIK procedure and it has been life-changing to wake up with crystal clear vision. I have been wearing glasses or contacts for the past 16 years, but I now have 20/15 vision! Everyone from the schedulers to the people at the front desk to the nurses to the doctors have been incredibly kind and caring. They really take the time to get to know their patients and make their time at Vance Thompson Vision as comfortable as possible. They even have my favorite music playing when I come in for an appointment! Dr. Thompson took the time to explain the procedure fully to me and answer all of my questions. The procedure itself was gentle and painless and I was able to return to work the next day without any issues. The wait time can get a little long, usually about 10-15 minutes in the lobby and 15-30 in the office depending on the appointment and how many different people I have to see. But I do appreciate how they come and get you in the lobby rather than just yelling your name from the other side of the room! I have had a couple of different procedures with VTV and both experiences have nothing short of Amazing. As I started getting up there in age, I had to start wearing glasses to read and see things up close. I hated trying to keep track of glasses, as I only needed them to read. I didn't like wearing them all the time because it messed up my distal vision...Then I heard about monovision. To make a long story short, I had the procedure. I no longer need glasses to read and my distal vision is still 20/15. Boom! Problem solved. And the procedure was way worth the investment. The second procedure was to treat my severe dry eyes. They suggested Lipaflow. It was a simple procedure (15-20 Minutes), and the results have been incredible. No more watery, irritated eyes, no more eye drops and my eyes aren't all red anymore. This place is amazing. I couldn't be happier with the friendly people who want nothing more than for me to experience the best service and have the best vision possible. I had cataracts removed and then had Tri Focal implants done in both eyes and i can't say enough how impressed i am with the care I received from Vance Thompson Vision through this whole process. I first had a consultation more than 16 years ago. At that time Dr. Thompson mentioned to me that while Lasik could help my vision, perhaps it was a more aggressive treatment for my eye condition. I have always had a huge correction. Huge! And when he told me to wait, I was a little disappointed at first. But then he mentioned that there was a new procedure using an implantable contact lens. This new lens was designed especially for high corrections. And it is more or less reversible. He mentioned to me how he was studying it and was part of the research team. So I held off on Lasik. A few years later that lens was approved and available in the US and that's what I had done! My vision is amazing and I'm glad I waited. I'm so grateful that he told me to wait. And I worry about what would've happened if I would have gone someplace that only does Lasik. read more

I cannot recommend Vance Thompson Vision enough! Both my parents, and now I have had Lasik eye surgery here. Dr. Thompson is fantastic! And the staff is super friendly, and makes you feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Seriously, I've never been anywhere that has had a staff this friendly! They answer all your questions, and explain the process the entire way through. It also helps that most of them have had lasik before, so they can give you a first hand experience. I was very comfortable in the operating room, and knew exactly what to expect. The surgery is very short. I flew in from Seattle WA to have LASIK performed by Dr. Berdahl at Vance Thompson Vision. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly greeted. I had been considering LASIK surgery for years. I researched a number of centers in the upper Midwest and hands down, Vance Thompson Vision was my number one choice. There was excellent education about why my wife wasn't a good candidate for LASIK because of her extremely high correction.
