I just received notice that MES sent us to collections for my son's appointment that was still in…read moreprocessing. When I called to make an appointment for my family. I referenced both insurances (BCBS Wellmark and VSP) that my family was covered under. MES scheduler said that they could process our insurance. I proceeded to make 3 appointments (all the same type of appointment) for my family. We all had appointments on the same day and at the same time. We were split up for our appointments. After our appointments, I had to run my younger son another appointment.My older son was still in his appointment so my husband stayed behind to check everyone out. At the front desk, he was told that they could not accept our insurance...which was not what we were told upon making the appointment. I called and emailed multiple times, trying to remedy this and work something out. I called both insurances, on the phone with them for over an hour each trying to get them to process all the appointments or tell me how to remedy. The insurance company clarified that my older son was coded a way that they could not process. When I called back the MES team to notify them what both insurances said, they were no help and took zero accountability. I requested Dr. Watkins to review the appointments, which I was informed that she did and clarified that my son was coded as having a different type of appointment which was why our insurance wouldn't process it. Whoever originally made our appointments or drafted records with coding for payment at Medical Eye Specialists made a mistake. During the time that I was going back and forth to remedy the billing and process insurance, MES sent the bill to collections. They did not inform me they were doing this even though we were in contact. This is the second time MES has lacked accountability. A previous appointment that I made with them. The scheduler booked me for a morning appointment that the Doctor didn't show up for. This was a mistake on their end. I received a reminder notification prior to appointment that I confirmed. This is really unfortunate because we have loved working with Dr. Watkins. Medical Eye Specialists will also be losing 3 patients.

Colors are brilliant and true. I can read books again. The computer screen is easy to view, and I can see the tiniest letters. I feel like I am 20 years old; the world is full of beauty, and I can see everything as it was meant to be seen. Sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The mountains are spectacular. Lovely women are more incredible than ever. I discovered Dr Wright the hard way, but you do not need to. When my cataracts were discovered during a routine eye checkup, I was recommended to Medical Eye Specialists. When I visited them, they demanded to copy my driver's license and credit card. Then they asked me to sign a form where I promised to pay all bills without question. They also told me that Medicare would cover the cost of my first visit. 30 days later I received a bill for almost $200.00. So I bailed on Medical Eye and their eye surgery assembly line. Searching around I found Dr Hugh Wright and called his office. A pleasant and helpful person named Jim answered and set me up with an appointment within two weeks. My visit to Dr Wright was a vastly different experience than Medical Eye Specialists. Dr Wright and his wonderful assistant Meghan focused on my eyes and health. No mention was made of keeping a credit card on file and signing a promissory note. They asked many questions and thoroughly examined my eyes and cataracts. They used my first name to address me and went out of their way to be kind and helpful. The relationship they worked hard to build was one of trust and understanding. A few weeks later Dr Hugh Wright performed cataract surgery on my right eye. I was nervous and apprehensive. The kind and thoughtful staff at the surgery center saw that and did all they could to reassure me. The surgery was flawless and pain-free. When I came to on the table Dr Wright was gently calling my name. That was incredibly reassuring to me. My follow-up visits and left eye surgery were equally gratifying. All my questions were answered during every step of the process. Dr Wright and his wonderful assistant Meghan graciously guided me through the process and took excellent care of me. From the first visit to, both eyes healed took about 6 weeks. I can now see better than ever and the world is once again a beautiful place. The gift of sight is wonderful and I have regained it. They were more interested in running unnecessary tests than addressing the actual infection. On top of that, the staff was unpleasant and dismissive, which made the whole visit feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. I left frustrated and with no diagnosis for the infection. I do not plan to return to Advanced Eye Care or recommend it to anyone.
