The name of the page should actually read "John A Roebling Park/Abbot Marshlands", as the surrounding marshlands and its trails make up the bulk of what you'll see, and provides a home for many of the creatures living at the park. It's perfect for a walk to help get in your 10K steps, and you've a great mix of wooded and marsh dwelling wildlife to view. The trails are smooth and easy to walk on. I especially like the trail on the Island portion of the park, as it's completely forested and you can easily walk the entire circular route without encountering another soul. If you're like me and prefer to walk in a park without encountering someone every 30-seconds, this is your place. I wouldn't say the park is quiet, the background buzz of cars on 295 is ever present, but with a breeze and rustling leaves, you really don't notice it unless you try to notice it. That said, if you're at the picnic area--which is actually pretty nice--you're going to hear the traffic. If you have questions about some of the wildlife you see there, the helpful people at the adjacent Tulpehaking Nature Center are very knowledgeable about all things fauna.

The park is a good size, with about 3.5 miles of trails. It is part of the larger Abbott Marshlands nature preserve along the Delaware River. Roebling Park's central feature is the beautiful Spring Lake which has a trail looping around it. Waterfowl like swans and ducks can frequently be seen on the lake. The best times to go are in the fall, winter, and spring; humidity and bugs come out of the marshes in full force during the summer. Being an urban park, there are paths connecting directly to the street grid in several places. There are also a couple of entrances with dedicated parking lots. The historic White City Mansion, with its grand old stone staircase, is located by the Sewell Ave parking lot. Even on a nice day, Roebling is much less busy than its larger and better-maintained counterpart Mercer County Park, a 15 minute drive away. It's nice if you prefer a little peace and quiet while walking the trails. Unfortunately Roebling also feels a bit neglected by the county, with some litter and overgrown trails in areas. If it were taken care of better, it would easily be a 5/5 park.

Just days after General Washington's surprise attack on Trenton, American troops surprised and…read moredefeated a force of British Regulars. It was the morning of January 3, 1777. At first the Americans were forced back, but the General rode right up to the front lines and lead his men to victory. We found that the park was easily accessed with plenty of parking. There had been a giant oak tree dating back to the time of the battle, but it died in 2000. A replacement now stands, having been grown from an acorn of the original. We went on a beautiful sunlit day, and you could easily picture the battle taking place. I found it particularly chilling to walk on ground that George Washington trod in victory 250 years ago - then look up to see a bald eagle soaring 50 feet above my head.

This is my hands-down winner for the best trail in New Jersey, I've hiked it, and I have biked it! I love all of the other trails in New Jersey, but this one rises to the top for a few reasons. Often there is water on both sides of the trail. There's a man-made canal on one side and sometimes either a river or a lake on the other side. Plus, it's lush with trees and vegetation. Also, the trail is really great if you wanna go biking. You can't go wrong wherever you decide to explore. I would recommend biking since it's such a beautiful trail and you'd want to see as much as you can. Also, the trail is very flat and easy to ride. It's not paved, but it is a wonderful easy riding surface without dust. I recommend parking either at Kingston, which is my favorite. Or at Rocky Hill. You could also park in Princeton along Washington Street near the kayak rental place. If you park at the Kingston trailhead, if you turn one way and head towards Rocky Hill you will see the most breathtaking views I feel the trail has to offer with majestic Streams and canals with cliffs and trees, and all directions. If you take this trail in the fall, you will be blown away by nature! If you ride in the other direction from Kingston towards the Princeton trailhead, you will pass a long and beautiful lake on your right hand side with beautiful views and trees on your left! If you love trails, this one put to the top of your list if you live in New Jersey or nearby Princeton! Super highly recommended! Going in October during the fall can be a transcending experience!

There are over 70 miles of paths/trails along the D&R canal, passing through many historic towns…read moreand landmarks in NJ with some pretty houses along the way, from near Frenchtown down to Trenton, then up to New Brunswick, in a V shape. The D&R runs parallel to the Delaware & Lehigh (D&L) trail on the Pennsylvania side, so you're also getting a view of the Delaware River on that part of the track. The trail is mostly flat and is suitable for walking or biking. We love riding this trail and exploring sections of it at a time and the surrounding towns. Some sections are more scenic than others. A favorite easy ride (or hike) of ours is to start in Lambertville NJ, ride up to Stockton, cross over Center Bridge to the PA side, grab a burger at Dilly's, then ride down to New Hope, PA, walk around town, and return to Lambertville via the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge. It's only about 8 miles roundtrip and makes for a leisurely day, and is very doable even for kids.

The garden was created in 1912 when Sayen purchased the land with his wife Anne Mellon (of the Mellon family) and built a home in the Arts and Crafts style. The azaleas and rhododendrons are especially magnificent. We visited during the Azalea Festival over Mother's Day weekend, and the flowers were in full colorful splendor. There are ponds, gazebos, and walking trails around the property. My favorite are the wooded trails at one end of the park, but they aren't marked so you could end up wandering around trying to find the exit. Tip: you can find GPS map tracks in AllTrails and Gaia to stay oriented.

They have a great running trail with workout equipment along the way and a great park, picnic area and open space. While visiting NJ this weekend I took my dog here. He loved the opportunity to burn off some energy and play ball. The only complaint about this park which hasn't changed much is all the goose poop! Other than that, I will continue to bring my dog here when I visit and take the occasional run on the trail.

The park was clean and had a nice little view of a water stream under the bridge. It's a nice place to walk a dog, go for a jog, take pictures. It has several little areas to chill and hangout within the park.

There's nothing else. No walking path. In the back right of the field, there's a very faded sign that says trail but it's so overgrown and not maintained you can't really go anywhere. A good spot for a picnic maybe or a rest between walking on the canals. There's two portable restrooms but no actual bathrooms. The portapotties were particularly filthy but it's also a holiday weekend day.

The entrance to the park has spaces for about 15-20 vehicles and provides easy access to the canal trail for walkers, bicyclists, or kayakers One nice feature is that the canopy of trees provides shade in the summer if you take a stroll in the late afternoon or early evening. Be careful on the path as you're likely to encounter bicycles, joggers, and walkers. When it's not crowded, the trail is peaceful and the canal is calm. This is a great spot for easy access to the canal trail!
