I've lived in the Netherlands for 2 years so I'm very accustomed to the "it's the customer's fault" attitude but these are very clearly overbaked, almost burnt. I don't often complain or ask for a refund but I can't even eat the cookies or finish the cake. The juice however was very good. I wish I had checked yelp before ordering but the pictures on their site and FB looked good.

So delicious, fresh, and definitely popular since they didn't have it on days when I stopped in after 12pm. The cookies were also amazing. Tried a bunch of flavors, and every one was on point. The waffle, however, was the best thing I've eaten in Amsterdam all week. Had to go with the chocolate covered version, and it did not disappoint. The waffle was fresh, covered in powered sugar first and then amazing, rich chocolate that melted in your mouth/ hands and the combination was just divine. I will definitely be back, just for this, but next time after a long jog.

Contemplating on 3 stars or 4 stars. I would give them a…read more3.7 stars for the actual tart. I only got to try the date tartlet, ~4 Euro for a small tart Good crust, lacks a little bit butter flavor, though texture of the crust is more like a butter cookie than a pie crust (flaky). Plain crust with some Idates jam in the middle. I think it's homemade dates jam. Dates flavor is mild but apparent. I would have put more dates in the filling to bring out the flavor more, or maybe more salt and spices. The balance of the crust and dates are just a little off, too much crust in ratio of the dates itself. Price is reasonable for European standards. The cafe itself is very cute with very nice and sweet people working there. Interior is cute and small, fits the name of the bakery perfectly. I would suggest coming in to sit down and relax with coffee and some tarts.

"A little less muffin lovin"…read more.. Yep, I'm definitely not a cupcake but a muffin girl. Do need a little less muffin lovin, cause my muffin tops are starting to runneth over... What's also overflowing is the hospitality. A snuggy bug rug little bakery. The prices on the other hand are VERY reasonable. The mini sandwiches...only €1,50 or 1,90 or so. Perfect! The carrot muffin will set you back only €1,50! A nice moist cake bursting with autunmy flavors. And it's even got light but creamy frosting. Seriously, who needs a €2+ cupcake anyway. Like America's favorite overweight family, my love for the sweet far exceeds just the love of honey sweet nicknames. Except, unlike Honey Boo Boo's mom June, I prefer the not overly sweet. This month's special, the chocolate fondant, was just right to satisfy my sweet tooth. It went down nice & smooth with a chai latte on the side. Sugar (bear), you can spice up my life any day...

For my first solo meal abroad ever, I wanted to grab lunch with a bit of a view and a location not…read morefar from Dam Square. That's when I fell upon De Drie Graefjes and their cozy corner location. I sat down right away and was given a menu by a waitress that didn't really want to be there and/or really dislikes Americans lol.. maybe she was tired of tourists? ANYWAY, I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich on corn bread which came with a side salad and tortilla chips. It was nothing short of amazing. The portion was HUGE and this smoked salmon was the best I had on my trip (and I just so happened to eat a ton of smoked salmon since it's a very popular brekkie/brunch option here). The corn bread, baked in house, was to die for. I shouldn't have eaten that whole sandwich, but I did... and then I moved onto the salad. The dressing on here was super fruity (maybe blueberry? Not sure, but it was delicious). Unexpected flavors but totally genius. A different and much friendlier waitress brought me my check, and then I paid. When I left, the first unfriendly waitress almost chased me out the door for not paying the check (with her) until her colleague also confirmed I had already paid. Guilty until proven innocent at this place, apparently. So, all in all, 5 stars for the food and ambiance and negative stars for the waitress who treated me like a criminal, basically lol ***FYI, I met a TON of people in Amsterdam and almost everyone was friendly and chipper. Just not that first waitress. I may or may not be salty about this still.

Home made cakes to die for! These ladies know their way around kitchen and oven…read more All of us tried a different cake and none disappointed; red velvet was smooth and topped with a sumptuous cream; pecan cheesecake was made the Dutch way with Monchou cheese (couldnt stop earing this one!); carrot cake was just sticky enough. Prize winner was the beetroot-almond cake for its creativity and of course its taste (think carrot cake with a twist). Also a good selection of teas and coffees. Not unimportant: very good service: I yearned for red velvet and it wasn't in the counter anymore; then she said a new cake was on its way (I had no issues waiting 5 minutes :) )

Have a cup of coffee, absorb the view and make up your mind. The salted caramel-pecan-apple pie, the red velvet cake and the chocolate ganache pie are pretty amazing: great looks, great taste. The lemon-rose-coconut cake is almost too beautiful to be true. Just as stunning is the beetroot-almond pie. The colour of that frosting! The texture of that cake!
