We recently hired JD Baldus Hardscape for a landscaping project on the lakeside of our home, and we…read morecouldn't be happier with the results. The project involved constructing an eight-foot retaining wall, performing significant excavation work, and completing the final grading and seeding. The work area was difficult to access, but John handled every aspect of the job with professionalism and expertise. His pricing was fair, communication was excellent throughout the project, and he was reliable and courteous from start to finish. We've already referred JD Baldus Hardscape to other homeowners looking for similar work, and we wouldn't hesitate to use John again or recommend him to others. Highly recommended.

Another fine example of a contractors failure to communicate. He came out to give us a quote, took…read moremeasurements, and never called again. I spoke to my local company that recommended John for landscaping (because they asked how he did). Once I told them about the issue, they took his business card and threw it away and stated thats not the first time they have heard this. Then I was in Mattawan Landscape supply looking at their hardscape options. When I was talking to the owner he pointed over to a contractor that he says does great hardscape work. He pointed to John. I informed him that John has not returned any of my calls, even to just say the project is too big for him or he does not have time. He never answers his phone either so you are always leaving a message. I am very reasonable about timing. I can have someone start tomorrow or a few months from now. I know these guys are busy. To completely ignore a potential customer shows lack of professionalism through my eyes and brings great concern to the actual project if he struggles to communicate on the front side. Are there any landscapers out there that would like a complete landscape job or even a few filler jobs?

A Truly Exceptional Contractor -- Valiant Contracting Earned My Full Trust!…read more A backed‑up sewer drain forced me into a complete bathroom gut and remodel -- the kind of nightmare project no homeowner ever wants to face. From the moment Valiant Contracting stepped in, the stress lifted. Their quote process was straightforward and refreshingly honest, with no fluff, no pressure, and no surprises. What set them apart was the control they gave me at every stage. I chose every fixture, every material, and even where each item was purchased. Zach, Aaron, and Justin treated my home with respect from day one. They were consistently polite, considerate, and professional -- the kind of crew you don't mind having in your house. The workmanship was outstanding. They moved quickly without cutting corners, and the final result looks and feels like a high‑end custom build. Even after we decided to replumb the shower and a sink to PEX -- a smart recommendation from Zach -- the total cost still came in far below the other quotes I received. Valiant Contracting is the rare company that takes real pride in their craft, and it shows in every detail of the finished bathroom. I recommend them without hesitation or equivocation. If you want a contractor who communicates clearly, works efficiently, and delivers exceptional quality at a fair price, this is the team you want on your project.

The company came in sealed off the area that they were going to work on within a few weeks. It seems like. It is now January of the next year and they have done nothing since. I was not optimistic about the time frame for restoration or the process for putting our nightmare behind us. Van Dam was on the job the same day as the flood, brought in huge dehumidifiers and a zillion fans and had the entire basement demolishened and dry in no time. After working out a quote for the insurance company and us agreeing to the scope of the work, everything moved very fast. I was in construction for 20 years, and I know how a well-run job works. I've also found that it's rare! Van Dam, their employees, and their contractors were amazing to work with! Shane and Darrien, their carpenters, and general go to people, were very professional and did expert work. Rob, my project manager was always prompt to respond and to get things done. We had about 800 square feet of finished basement and from the time they started to its completion, it was only about a month. The renovation included replacing drywall, removing and replacing a subfloor, painting, baseboard, removal and reinstallation of bathroom fixtures and cabinets, carpet and plank flooring, They moved the furniture and put it all back when they were done. All in all, I am very thankful for the work Van Dam did for us and I would highly recommend them to all my family and friends.
