We even hosted our daughter's high school graduation party here, and it was the perfect venue. Upstairs was set up for the kids with space to set up a photo booth, a catered Chipotle bar, music, and games. Downstairs was ideal for the adults to relax, mingle, and celebrate. Since we booked after hours, we had full use of the parking lot and outdoor seating area--we added some outdoor games and it made for a super fun evening. The staff, one of whom was the owner was very friendly, and each came by to chat with us about wines, and other offerings they had if we wished. The room seats maybe 25 people comfortably, there were a fair amount of people in and out during our visit. They also allowed my dog inside which was nice, so they're dog friendly. I had a couple glasses of their reminiscence Riesling which was great. Only snag was I guess they made some chili, which honestly sounded good, but we weren't interested. But we were able to find a spot and stayed awhile here, as we enjoyed the wines from Ancestry. Since we were all passport holders, we were told that we could choose from any three wines on the menu. Their menu is also paperless, as they ask that you look on the website for the menu. I am a red wine drinker, so started with the Provocant, a Bordeaux-style varietal red blend, and had the Le Frere, a cabernet sauvignon-forward wine and the 2015 reserve cabernet. I enjoyed all of the wines I had from here, but would say the reserve cabernet was my favorite. It was very full-bodied, with a nice oak finish. It's the kind of wine you have a nice juicy steak with. But the menu at Ancestry is huge, as they have several different types of wine. There's something for everyone here. Staff were very friendly and sociable. I love that dogs are allowed here! You're also allowed to eat your own food here, but there is no nearby eatery around. Bring your own picnic! I also learned that they have a tasting room in eastern Washington, so will have to check it out when I'm in that neck of the woods. I'm glad to have discovered Ancestry Cellars.

The atmosphere alone makes this a standout with the Italian music and barrel room making you feel like you are overseas. The owner is super friendly and will have a good conversation with anyone that wants one, and when it wasn't during covid, they use to have chocolate snacks that really went well with the wine. The wine itself is amazing as well and I can't think of one I didn't like. It is located away from the two main districts (wear house and Hollywood), so you might miss it if you don't go intentionally but it is absolutely worth it.

We visited Icon Cellars, as we learned that it was one of the wineries that opened in phase 1.5 and was also on our Woodinville Wine Passport. I read that Icon Cellars takes reservations, so was able to call in and make a reservation for the late afternoon for my boyfriend and me. Located in the north industrial area of Woodinville, it's one of the wineries in the plaza, right on the corner. The A-frame sign on the street helped us find it. We wanted to sit outside since we had our dog with us, and there were two chairs already set up right outside the room. After we checked in with the owner, Jim, we each did a tasting. We started with a rose and then had four reds. All of the wines were awesome! The reds were full-bodied and bold, which is how I like my wine. And Jim gave generous pours, so we were definitely feeling it midway! Of all the reds we had, we bought a bottle of the dolce tempo, which is a mix of an Italian varietal and tempranillo. You get a lot of the peppery punch from the dolce, but a smooth, fruit-forward taste from the tempranillo. It was very unique in reds I've had before; it's definitely a must. The tasting room has a few tables inside, in addition to the two outdoor chairs set up. In fact, the patio chairs are very nice to sit in because on the arm rests is a hole that holds up your wine glass! Genius. As mentioned, dogs are allowed and you can bring your own food. Parking is easy to find, with the shared lot out front along with the other businesses in the plaza. Glad to have checked out Icon Cellars for their bold reds!

I loved the service we got with Jay at Martedi Winery!…read more My daughter has been to Martedi Winery before and raved about the ambiance and service she and her friends received while there so we tried it today as one of our Father's Day stops before dinner. The business is tucked in this small corner of Woodinville down a side road I didn't even know was there. Across the street from the Cut Shop. Upon entry, we were greeted by Jay behind the counter who is gregarious and knowledgeable of the industry. We tried several wines and enjoyed the differences with each. Jay was a highlight of this visit and is a gem for Martedi Winery. In the front area, there is a nice photo-ready backdrop made with old wine barrels and ambient lighting that is really pretty. There is also plenty of seating in the lobby area for tastings. Oh, and you can sign up on a list for volunteering at their annual grape pressings, etc. It sounds like a hoot! After all the sampling, I ended up buying a bottle of their 2024 Nonno's Wine with their Summer Sale discount. Fairly good deal. It's also a good table wine for dinners and is easy to drink. The little story on the back labels of each of these wines is a nice touch an personalizes each vintage. I will definitely return to Martedi for future tastings and maybe even a grape stomping session!

I liked the option that we could pick any 5 wines to taste off the menu. It really let us tailor to each person's preference. The husband and I mostly went for reds and there were so many good ones I struggled to choose just one bottle to take home to waive the tasting fee. We ended up going with Pun and it was quite delicious. It didn't live long in our kitchen before it was emptied. The individual pouring for us was so amiable and easy going that her friendliness increased the casual relaxed nature of the tasting room. We, my little tasting group, stopped here last and close to when they were closing for the day. Immediately I was grateful because the lady who helped us was very welcoming. She seemed not to notice the time or at least was not bothered by it. Even when my friend joined us late she barely reacted except with joking he had to catch up. It is a fun, little space. It is interesting to look at as there is so much to see in this space without it feeling cramped or cluttered. Then she told us the history and we were entranced. I love a good history story but this had drama which is even better! I won't spoil it here, but the label and some of the names all tie into the family history. The wine was very good too. We ended up with a couple bottles as we enjoyed it that much. It was a great experience.
