Quilceda Creek Vintners - Magnum 2023 CVR

Buckle in because I will be utilizing the term "phenomenal" throughout this review. Securing the time for the tasting was a bit of a production. They are closed weekends and are only available Monday through Friday. Their tasting times are either 10 AM, 1 PM, or 3PM. Why the specific times? I'm not sure, however it is what the business sets. We secured the 1PM tasting on a Friday. We were expecting the standard gambit of tastings with other parties, but to our surprise, it was not the case. We had the WHOLE tasting room to ourselves with an in house sommelier guiding through the phenomenal wine tasting. We were provided with personalized menus and a tour of the production area during our appointment. We took a few moments in between our sips of cab to walk to their production facility to see first hand how their wine is made. The tasting consisted of 3 wines. Julio guided us through our tasting. We started with a 2020 Quilceda Blanc, which was phenomenal and comes with a caveat. They do not sell this to the public. I can appreciate the tease there. We proceeded with the 2016 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, which was phenomenal. We took a walk break and Julio took us on a tour of their facilities where we saw French oak barrels, production line, and an interesting contraption called GALILEOAK. This was a spherical invention from France and is used to age wine. We continued with a tour of their barrel room and walked back to the tasting room. The final tasting was 2022 Palengat, which is a Mach 1 vineyard Horse Haven Hills. The wine left us desiring more. To our surprise, it was available for purchase and we took home half a case. Overall, I can certainly appreciate the exclusivity of this membership. This vintner does one thing and they do it well. Cabernet Sauvignon is their trademark and we see why they have earned multiple 100 points on their wines. Definitely recommend this winery.

She was absolutely blown away with her server (Melissa) as she was super- attentive, helped with the happy hour menu and food/wine selections, and, split the appetizers and bill without being asked. The inside was cozy and comfortable. Food ordered amongst the four: caprese salad, bread and oil, bruschetta, and a flatbread - ALL were equally great! Perfect for that late afternoon get together. And Melissa even brought my wife and others a small taste glass of a wine to make sure they all liked it - - who does THAT anymore? All in all, a great experience, great service, great food, and great atmosphere! Signed, Cathy and "the ladies"

After my 2-star review 3.5 years ago, we decided to try it again. Still disappointing and still 2…read morestars. This time there were 3 meats and 3 cheeses, and the charcuterie board was overall more complete and visually appealing. However, they're still going with sub-par meats and cheeses. The salami was one of the worst we've had, and same for the pepperoni. Pepperoni just isn't great with wine, and the salami was low-quality and didn't pair well with the wine at all (it kind of tasted like summer deli sausage). There was brie which was good, but the blue cheese was very meh, and the cheddar tasted like a very every-day retail cheddar. Definitely not aged. Only the brie paired well with wine. I think if someone has never had charcuterie before and didn't know better, and wasn't having it with wine, they might find the selection okay. However, the point to this whole exercise is to offer things that pair well with wine, and very little did. It feels like whoever decides on what to put on these is like "these meats and cheeses seem nice", but makes no effort to consider whether they're good with wine (any wine). I would've rated 1 star based on this most recent experience, but the wine was very good (if very expensive), so there's that. So we finally got back here for another try, and have decided not to return. The charcuterie experience almost anywhere else is better.

The…read moreshop is essentially a tasting room, much like Woodinville's tasting rooms run by wineries -- in this case for a wide variety of olive oils and vinegars. While we first discovered these olive oils and vinegars in a similar shop in Victoria BC, they are available in Snohomish and on Bainbridge Island. In addition to olive oil and balsamic vinegar, the shop has all kinds of associated items -- pouring spouts and the like. While we tasted a great many flavors of olive oil, and quite a few balsamic vinegars, we keep going back to the same favorites time after time: * Traditional balsamic vinegar * Tuscan herb infused olive oil There are many other interesting flavors, but these stand the test of time. And while one can use them to make a great oil-and-vinegar dressing on a salad, our favorite way to consume them is with a fresh good-quality baguette, ideally made the same day by a real french bakery (like La Parisienne in Seattle). A little oil in a dish, a little balsamic vinegar poured through it, then a hunk of baguette dipped in the balsamic-tuscan-herb mixture. Yum!! The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and it's hard to go wrong with any of the choices. Well worth a drive to get high quality ingredients. We are big fans.

When we came in we didn't expect the superb level of hospitality and service from Georgia. She walked us how to navigate the store and recommended really good pairings of olive oil and balsamic vinegar that was so much to our liking. I have never knew that you could even use balsamic as a mocktail. My mind was definitely blown by this idea. We couldn't just leave without buying anything after that careful selection and recommendations from her as she was super knowledgeable and sweet! I think this time we'll definitely come back with some families visiting. After this visit, we ended up buying the cranberry, pomegranate and peach balsamic for future mocktails and maple balsamic with tuscan olive oil.
