STAY AWAY! Valvoline Instant Oil Change damaged my vehicle by over tightening oil filter/cooler cap. The damages to fix my vehicle were over $700. Even though the manager stated that if my vehicle had a prior oil leak, they actually would have noted it on my paperwork receipt meaning my vehicle did not have any prior damage, but Valvoline refused to pay and fix my vehicle. Why? Because Valvoline will not pay for damages to your vehicle if you get it fixed before notifying them. Well... I got it fixed first before telling Valvoline because I did not know my vehicle was damaged due to their carelessness. I took it to a mechanic shop to see why I had an oil leak. Then, that was when I found out the damage was due to Vavoline's neglect of over tightening the oil cooler cap where your oil filter goes. That over tightening of the cap resulted in a hairline crack to the oil cooler housing. Valvoline went past the recommended specs of 25 nm which caused an oil leak. Since you can not fix a crack, the entire oil cooler had to be replaced. This could have been prevented if Valvoline would have used a torch wrench, but they did not use a torch wrench when putting the cap back on my vehicle. Due to their neglect and carelessness, I was billed $768 to fix their mistake. I highly recommend taking your vehicle to another place since they do not care if they damage your vehicle. My biggest question is... how are you suppose to bring it to Valvoline and let them know they damaged your vehicle when you do not even know what is wrong with your vehicle. You do what most people do... You take it to a mechanic, and then he tells you what is wrong; however, by that time, Valvoline and Valvoline Customer Care Department will NOT PAY for damages because you did not contact them first. This is very unprofessional. Maybe Valvoline should start handing out receipts and instead of saying "have a nice day," they should say, "if we tear up your vehicle, contact us first; otherwise, we won't pay for it." I bet no Valvoline customer knew this. Well, NOW YOU KNOW. If they tear up your vehicle, they won't pay for any of it. What a joke right? Well, I bring multiple vehicles to Valvoline. They have lost my trust. Valvoline has no morals regarding customer service. When they should do the right thing, Valvoline does not. If you are in the wrong, you should fix your wrong, but Valvoline won't; therefore, I will not use their services again. Valvoline does not care or value you as a customer. Find another place to change your oil. UPDATE regarding Courtney G.'s comment. I have a case open, and I was not given a case number by the Valvoline Customer Care Department. I was told by the Care Department that since I had gotten my vehicle fixed that Keith, the manager, at Valvoline refused to reimburse for the damages they have done. Even though the manager clearly stated to me that if my vehicle ever had any past damages, like an oil leak, they would have noted it in my invoice. This was my first visit to any Valvoline. I was on the way to a long trip and read inside so I searched for an oil place on the way. This one came up so I decided to give it a shot. I got in to the bay in about 10 minutes so that was good. The clock on the timer said 20 by the time I was done. So about 30 minutes total. I got full synthetic, which is normally $85. That's pretty steep, IMO. But the guys were cool and helped me find a coupon online for $15 off. Still, the total was $76 after taxes. I liked that there was a camera under and on top with a monitor you could watch. I was able to see them working, which is reassuring. Everyone was really polite and respectful. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went in November 2022. They did not tighten my oil filter down and this caused problems with my car. I filed a claim. The manager, Shelby, denied my claim citing they did not touch my car. They changed my oil, so they touched my car. What if this had done damage to my engine resulting in hundreds of dollars worth of damage? Thousands? And SHELBY decided she didn't want it to go against her record so she denied it. I've been here many times with my two cars and I love it! When the manager, William, is there the place spins like a top. I love his crew! I even get a bunch of discounts, which helps a lot because I can barely afford to go in the first place. They get three stars from me because when William is not there, the workers are fumbling over themselves, taking their time, standing around talking, and the manager on duty is very busy micromanaging. Last time I visited, William was there. I got an oil change, new light, new wiper, and a new air filter for under $90. This time he wasn't there, I got an oil change and cabin filter for $130. My visit was Sunday, September 29, 2019 and I had the pleasure of being serviced but the managers, Mike and another gentleman. Understandable that it was closing time and the workers were ready to leave, but I had waited too long and needed a service done so gesturing us away and cussing up a storm was uncalled for. This is the absolute slowest Valvoline that I've been to and we are regular customers of this chain. I see 6 employees working yet all 3 stalls have sat with the same cars for 45 minutes. The whole ordeal took us over an hour. It would be less time to drive to our old location in Nashville and drive back to Murfreesboro in the amount of time it took. I dont mind waiting IF they employees are at least friendly. Keith was rude from the moment he approached my car. He talked to me like everything was from a script. I've had my oil changed here ~6 times, and every time I'm amazed at how LOOONNG it takes this business to change my oil! If it weren't right beside my house, I would have already gone somewhere else, but today will be my last...It's worth the drive to get an extra hour back in my day. I pulled up this afternoon w: 1 car on the station, and 1 car behind that one, in the queue. A gentleman came up, asked what I'm having done today, and when I told him "just an oil change", he replied, "Great, it'll be about 20 minutes". Obviously, this is exciting to me, since I've never experienced such a fast turnaround at this joint. Welp, 40 minutes later the first car rolled off, and then another 30 minutes after that the second one completes THIER BASIC OIL CHANGE! I wish I were making this up. 70 minutes to finish out one fluid change, and then complete another? It's no wonder they're a little higher priced than the other stations in town...lower volume inevitably leads to higher prices. Anyway, when I finally pulled up for MY basic change, that also took 40 minutes. So total time to get my oil cycled ~1.75hrs & $102 bucks (5 qts semi-synthetic oil and a cabin air filter). I hate to bitch, the reality is that when its your time on the rack, the crew is super friendly and appear to be detail oriented, it's just that I don't have the luxury of carving out that much of my schedule every 3 or 4 weeks. *sigh* my blood pressure is going up just thinking about it. Went there this morning to get my oil changed. My regular place. Drove in and greeted by a red headed employee who was more interested in laughing at inside jokes with a coworker than paying attention to what he was doing. He started to ask me questions then he just broke out laughing and walked away and went to another car. The manager finally came to my car and was competent and paid attention and even appeared he was having issues with this other employee. I watched the red headed one the entire time. He was all over the place, leaving tasks unfinished, and overall just rude and unbearable to listen to. He ended up being the one to put oil in my car along with washer fluid and antifreeze. I had some car issues over the weekend on a Saturday morning in which my water pump broke in McDonalds parking lot. Rather than sit there I drove it next door to these guys. They pulled it right in and without any questions began running down the source of my coolant leak. After about a half hour or so they determined that it was most likely my water pump. They recommended a mechanic to take it to, and told me my car would be ok in their lot as long as I needed it to be there until I could get it towed. When asked how much I owed them they responded that I owed nothing and they were simply glad they could help. Typically I would take my car somewhere else to get my oil changed, but with this kind of customer service and such a efficient general business model so close to home I wouldn't care to pay 10 to 20 dollars more for an oil change or any other service from this business. After pulling in at 12:40pm on a Sunday, sitting behind ONE car for over 30 minutes, never even being acknowledged in the whole time I sat there, watching 3 workers stand around and joke and laugh with each other, and having to ask how much longer from the one guy acknowledging the 3 cars stacked up in the lane next to me, I seriously will NEVER go to this Valvoline again. I have been a customer for over 10 years from San Diego to Dallas, and have never been treated so poorly or experienced so much frustration anywhere like at this Murfreesboro location today. I eventually gave up and asked the lady behind me if she could back up so I could leave. At 1:15 when I pulled out, over 45 minutes (including my drive time) was totally wasted. And my oil still needs to be changed. All the coupons in the world does not make this place better.
