This is a regular thrifting haunt for me. It's nearby and it's usually a good experience. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. When I take donations in they're always appreciative and offer assistance even going out to my car to help. The selection at this location can be a bit hit or miss and the cleanliness of some of the garments has stressed me out a few times. But the sales and deals are often very good. Plus, if you sign up for rewards and texts, there are extra ways to save. Climate control is often a challenge ; lots of air conditioning in summer and heat in the cooler months so it's wise to dress in layers if you plan to shop around some. read more

Value world is probably my favorite thrift store - sometimes I find a few things in the clothing department - I got 1 Squishmallow here last time spent about $35 on clothes and I also got a nice beach inspired bracelet. I got a sunscreen and a conditioner both name brand items brand new. I got a cute SHEIN sweater with an American flag on it - fits well and at a wonderful price! First the positives - good variety of items and lots of clothing and shoes. Staff are friendly. IF you can find any of the sale color tags, then you can get a good deal occasionally. Decent organization of store. The negatives - NO fitting rooms, NO public restrooms, and everything is final sale - not even an exchange or store credit is allowed. Prices on most items are way too high considering it's all donated items. So, you are taking a big risk of wasting your money, especially on clothes that you cannot try on. However, I have noticed in my last few visits some prices are getting marked down and priced a little bit lower to start with, so it's a slight improvement. "Sale" color tags are few to find, and some of the racks are packed so tightly that they are completely un-shoppable. read more

I wanted to love this store. I have been countless times. Each time I have bought several things, but lately I just can't fathom spending another dime here. Everything is outrageously priced and I am quiet disgusted. I found 5 baby bottles, used, and older. Older as in the nipples were hard, brown and cracked. They were glass so I figured I could sterilize them and get new nipples and they would be just fine.. until I find out they wanted $6.91 per bottle. That's $34.55 for 5 used bottles. I put them back on the shelf and walked out. I don't think I've seen a pair of leggings under $8. Baby clothes have been marked up to around $5-$15. During the winter I was looking for a snow suit for my 3 month old, found ONE in his size but that was marked up to $50!!!! $50?! That's insanity. Let's talk about the color tag "deals". Let's say the colors are pink and red.. I go though and try find those colors but lo and behold I don't find many? I go in nice and early to see if I can get something decently priced and still not much luck, and I go through every single item on a given rack. Not a hanger skipped. But I'm only seeing 1-2 pink or red tags. So I decided to go in right before closing one day and I see two specific color tags being taken off of the racks. Those colors were switched and the next day those exact color tags that had been switched to new colors were on "sale". It's a bunch of greed and bull in Value World. I now drive further away and spend my money elsewhere. I thrift several times a week and spend a ton of money... not here though. They would make more if the items were priced lower and they would sell more if the items were priced lower. Where are these clothes going? I have seen some of the items on racks for months which no price reduction. I will not shop here and I will not donate here as many others I know also won't! read more

I do love this thrift store and go here often but prices are getting a little high to be honest. I appreciate that this store is always well-staffed, organized by color, and has a parking lot. I have found some super cool, finds here and just like with any thrift store, it's all about spending time shuffling through stuff until you find some treasures. I recently looked through the baby clothes for one of my friends and left with a ton of great stuff, so that was cool. 2.5 stars. I frequent many of the thrift stores around the city, including Value World, although I used to shop here much more often. Recently, their prices have increased so significantly, it almost discourages me from shopping secondhand. I think they have a great clothing selection, but lately, a used shirt is priced at $10 or higher. Their home goods selection has never been huge, but I've found some great items over the years -but again, recently I went in and saw a set of candlesticks being sold for $15 each. I used to visit Value World a couple of times a month, but don't go as often now due to the prices. I still think it's a good option if you're looking for vintage clothing, shirts, etc. - just be prepared to spend more than you'd expect from a thirft store. read more

Wow. Its like shopping on Rodeo Dr. The prices were off the chart. The place was so unorganized. It was a work out to push all the tight clothes that were packed tightly together on the racks. I shop good wills and thrift stores for a living and donate a lot. ALL THEIR FREE donations at this store, This place with their laughable prices-is does not appear to be about helping people. The joke was while I was in line getting the two items and paid for them and while I was still in line I said Oh my this Item is damaged and I didn't notice. So my cashier called the manager and a women of color came over to refund me. No way!!! OMG she was cold, uncaring and refuse me a refund saying, we do not give refunds here. What the money barely left my hand. I will never donate to this company that appears more like a business rather than the goodwills I grew up to respect. They have a ton of things in this store. The prices are a bit high for the products compared to other thrift stores I've been too. However, you could spend a couple of hours in here just looking through stuff. The "high end" items are behind the counter. There's ample parking. The items in the store were overpriced. I saw a vase with a $3.85 written on it and it had a sticker from Marc's for $1.75. New Christmas plates for $10.00 that should have been a $1.00. There was a whole cart of these plates they might have been sold for $1.00 but it is after Christmas and they want $5.00. There was a guy outside stealing out of their donation bin. read more

Occasionally I visit the Lakewood store but was a hardcore Lorain Avenue Value World customer when the store was opened. The prices at Lakewood have become unbelievable! But what is worse is in the past week I have seen bed bugs! One was in the water bottle section and one was on a clothes rack. I do not know if I will ever be able to return. The store looked organized and did not have a smell which is what usually bothers me when entering resale shops. The staff was more than happy to give me the extra help I needed with my donation around back even though I was there during a busy weekend. Talk about a hidden gem, this Value World is incredible! I have been meaning to stop in for ages, but it looks so sketchy from the outside I usually would just say "Eh, maybe another time..." Man am I glad I finally sucked it up and went in. Though I have to admit, I almost turned away last minute when I saw that it was meter parking in their parking lot, so weird! Not only is everything meticulously color-coordinated and very well organized, everything is clean and neat. I am also so used to leaving thrift stores with the overwhelming sensation of needing a shower, but I didn't get that at all from this place. The workers were also very friendly. One cashier was getting ripped apart by a man that was very impatiently waiting for his turn to pay. She kept her calm and was a hell of a lot more patient and polite than I ever would have been. Props to her! I almost don't want to post this, because I want to keep this diamond in the rough all to myself, but honestly they deserve all the business they can get because they clearly take pride in their store. I filled a cart with slacks to try on but put them all back because, especially with thrift store clothes, I can't by anything without trying it on. And no returns? With recommendations from several coworkers and friends in the area, I decided to pop into Value World on a whim to see what it was all about. Excellent news: it's thrift paradise!!! Everything is beautifully organized, and there is a great selection of everything from clothes to home goods. If you take your time and dig, you can find so many treasures! I found everything from a 69 cent Zelda t shirt, to brand new curtains, to a super cute cat dress. :) *Note: they do NOT have a changing room, so I recommend having a clear idea of what size(s) you are looking for. TIP #1: You know the junk mail packet you regularly get in the mail - Red Plum adverts, for example? If you look through it, Value World regularly has 50% off coupons for your entire purchase! Has its own unique smell. Somehow stronger than most other thrift stores in the area. But it is kind of drab in here. Nothing really entices me, except the books, and those are hit and miss. Once in a while I'll see some used toys but nothing that I can't get at a garage sale that look ten times better and less broken. Lines are usually pretty long. read more

Pretty awesome thrift store! I agree that this store has a unique pungent odor, but it's certainly not a deal breaker or even a deterrent from me stopping in once a week. Clothing is organized by size and also by color. The employees are frequently tidying the racks while putting out new items. Sometimes the lines are LONG because it seems people fill their shopping carts to the brim. Keep an eye out for when a cashier is open and pounce to check out! My usual wait in line here is at least 5 minutes, sometimes closer to 10. All time favorite thrift store. Great selection of men's sweaters, T-shirt's, flannels, hoodies, and long sleeve shirts. Even the women's side is quite large. A lot of Levi jeans if you are looking for those. Parking is limited and kind of weird. Sometimes prices are a little high. read more

This place is huge! It's all categorized very neatly and it makes finding what you need easy. All the aisles are mostly color coordinated which is very convenient. It's a good place to go to find something you're looking for or even just to look around. I've found some very cool sweaters and sweatshirts and even vintage sportswear over the years. read more

Hey guys. This isn't one of your fancy-ass precious "vintage" stores that sells faux-old T-shirts for 20 bucks each. This is your legit, run-of-the-mill Goodwill-type thrift store with a ton of stuff for sale. Take your time. Is some of it garbage? Sure. But, like, what place like this DOESN'T have its fair share of garbage? The fact is, I found a good amount of kitschy ephemera here -- like a straight-up working toy Batmobile for a buck! And a coffee mug from the Boston Children's Museum for a quarter! And the T-shirts (of which they have a gigantic selection) are only 50 cents each. If you want to spend more money for this sort of thing, you are most welcome to go somewhere else that has 1/8 of the selection. read more
