used to be good before Hastings burned but now massive quantities of junk to sift through, hard to push through carts, workers and racks and people standing in the back for hours and hours every day since opening wanting to grab stuff from new racks because they are unable to do sorting pricing etc in the basement/outhouse/some back area so this happens. sad.

$4 for 5 pairs of socks

I once left my review here and somehow it got deleted before. Anyways I like going here to browse used goodies. I've purchased a dryer for $4-5 for a decent deal. Not the best quality, but very affordable for a used one. Don't underestimate VV you never know what you may find. I even bought unused rice bowls for $3 for 2. Fitting rooms were available before Covid19 occured and the return policy has changed because of that. They allow exchange only and no refunds. It's more like hit and miss finding your treasure here. I also bought 5 pairs of socks and unused Starbucks mug from Thailand. I liked browsing VV for DVD and games section until they cleared all these out. Not sure what happened to DVD/games section. Selections are okay. I have seen few clothes from Aritzia, Oak and Fort, Plenty and etc.

Please clean the change rooms once in a while so much dust!

As with most Value Village stores this one is in need of some cleaning... I get you're a thrift store but 4 inch dust balls in the change room are unacceptable. I have found some great deals here and scoffed at some exorbitant prices - you have to know your stuff in order to get a good deal. There is a large selection and it's pretty well laid out and easy to navigate. Two levels as others have mentioned - downstairs is bedding, kids clothes, kids toys and furniture. On weekends the inefficient parking lot can be sketchy - might be better off to park across the street and walk over.

I had to add this here. I went to VV to buy coffee cups . While I didn't find what I was looking for exactly I passed by the " special goods cases " and HAD to take a photo . What the hell ?!! Update !::: now ( today!) May 10/2019 there is a jacket in the showcase they are asking just under $2,000.00 for and yes ... wait for it ... it's a Gucci copy! ( counterfeit ) Uhh value village are u even aware selling counterfeit is illegal ??? Add a $2,000 tag and it's also immoral . I'm done with this store . So gross !

Very disappointed with the pricing at this store. Prices are often double the prices of other locations. For example I saw a crappy plastic Crosley turntable for $119 they go new for around $70 and are often discounted. Another is a Michael Kors tie being sold for $34.99 when they go for $19.99 new. The store layout is nice though. Staff are decent.

It's set up nicely, it's clean, and organized well. My favourite part though, is that they have lots of gorgeous older pieces. You can tell that each piece is hand picked for the shop. So glad I finally stopped by!

Vancouver's vintage and consignment is already notoriously expensive and caters almost exclusively to a small dress size. Community, a Vintage and Consignment that is run by a non-profit Downtown Eastside housing and resource society not only engages with the neighbourhood it lives in, but also works to diversify its size range to engage with shoppers of many sizes. It hires women from the neighbourhood to work in the business and portions of the proceeds go back into the neighbourhood, which feels great while you shop! The space is small but well utilized and well decorated. Great jewelry by local designers is on display and the clothes have a very consistent and curated turnover rate. And the prices!! Compared to Vancouvers vintage scene, Community is absolutely the fairest price I've found yet. These days even Value Village is getting pricey so to go to a shop where the selection is so well picked out and find something affordable feels great. Again, I'm a plus size shopper who finds an amazing score here 90% of the time. Pieces from Community make up probably 50% of my wardrobe. See you there this weekend!

She liked what I found in the store and encouraged thrift hunting. Yes, it's charitable thrift store but the main purpose to be here is treasure hunting. I liked the honesty. We were buying a number of items and they no longer have change rooms to try items on so we asked the cashier what their exchange policy was and she said no cash back, but you can exchange or have a store credit. We were happy with that so we purchased everything. When we got home we put batteries in a brand new kitchen scale that was still in sealed packaging and it does not work, so I took it back and they said absolutely no refunds on electronics. That you need to check it out to make sure it works before you leave (I guess you're expected to go shopping with batteries in your pockets! The cashier never said that to us or I would've never bought it - I'm not into buying things for the sake of just losing my money!

But something piqued my interest when I heard of Community Thrift and Vintage. I knew this one would be different then the rest. Man was I right. One part social enterprise, one part thrift store, all parts awesome, this pretty little boutique is retail-with-a-conscious to the highest order. A firm believer that the "thrift" in "thrift store" should be observed, I was beyond relieved to walk into an unpretentious, well-curated, and cheap(!!) vintage shop. Adhering to my "no uglies" policy, this not-for-profit opts for natural fibres when choosing their wares, and has a strict no polyester rule (thankthelawd). With its reclaimed wood and exposed brick walls, its well-curated wares, and its social advocacy and support of the DTES, Community Thrift could easily upsell cool to the masses. But they don't. And I love them so much more for it.

I think if you're looking for a good selection of gently used unique scarves, this is the place to check out.

I came across that the men's store and luxe boutique had a very red carpet grand opening party, but a bit disappointed not to receive an invitation given I was told we will be invited, felt like a fool really, knowing we are a longstanding support of this store. It does not erase years of positive experiences, but with all social media buzz, we understand things can pivot, but being remembered as a loyal customer would have meant something. Looking at the insta post, Turnabout's grand opening was full of smiling customers. I understand it's optics and you have to put out a grand opening as the consignment game is saturated, but the old timers like myself who kept the doors open all these years weren't on the list. Come on, you guys can do better. Did we feel special? Nope! Thanks guys. I don't know what customer service is this! Disappointing.
