love this place after hastings birned down, staff is lovely and there are amazing items however prices are as you can see, a bit out of this world! I am unsure who exactly buys that but people do. if patient and passing by some stuff can be found from time to time but otherwise yeah, it is what it is! very narrow aisles and lots of employees working at any given time. still, love the place, there are way too few thrift stores in the area. 3.5/5

Absolutely loved my experience in this shop! This place is so organized and has so much to choose from! The displays were so inviting and the staff was top notch. Two floors of wonder to look through. Street parking offered.

I actually checked out the Frock Shoppe for the first time today! Not sure how I missed this place…read moreconsidering what a vintage freak I am. Anyhow, I love it. Really nice vintage store. It's set up nicely, it's clean, and organized well. My favourite part though, is that they have lots of gorgeous older pieces. You can tell that each piece is hand picked for the shop. So glad I finally stopped by!

Vancouver's vintage and consignment is already notoriously expensive and caters almost exclusively to a small dress size. Community, a Vintage and Consignment that is run by a non-profit Downtown Eastside housing and resource society not only engages with the neighbourhood it lives in, but also works to diversify its size range to engage with shoppers of many sizes. It hires women from the neighbourhood to work in the business and portions of the proceeds go back into the neighbourhood, which feels great while you shop! The space is small but well utilized and well decorated. Great jewelry by local designers is on display and the clothes have a very consistent and curated turnover rate. And the prices!! Compared to Vancouvers vintage scene, Community is absolutely the fairest price I've found yet. These days even Value Village is getting pricey so to go to a shop where the selection is so well picked out and find something affordable feels great. Again, I'm a plus size shopper who finds an amazing score here 90% of the time. Pieces from Community make up probably 50% of my wardrobe. See you there this weekend!

She liked what I found in the store and encouraged thrift hunting. Yes, it's charitable thrift store but the main purpose to be here is treasure hunting. I liked the honesty. Another worker was so brave to kick out a theft. Unfortunately we see those in such a store but this store workers make a good team to keep the safe. They didn't leave it to security like Value Village does. It was impressive to see. They just need more mirrors.

We were buying a number of items and they no longer have change rooms to try items on so we asked the cashier what their exchange policy was and she said no cash back, but you can exchange or have a store credit. We were happy with that so we purchased everything. When we got home we put batteries in a brand new kitchen scale that was still in sealed packaging and it does not work, so I took it back and they said absolutely no refunds on electronics. That you need to check it out to make sure it works before you leave (I guess you're expected to go shopping with batteries in your pockets! The cashier never said that to us or I would've never bought it - I'm not into buying things for the sake of just losing my money!

But something piqued my interest when I heard of Community Thrift and Vintage. I knew this one would be different then the rest. Man was I right. One part social enterprise, one part thrift store, all parts awesome, this pretty little boutique is retail-with-a-conscious to the highest order. A firm believer that the "thrift" in "thrift store" should be observed, I was beyond relieved to walk into an unpretentious, well-curated, and cheap(!!) vintage shop. Adhering to my "no uglies" policy, this not-for-profit opts for natural fibres when choosing their wares, and has a strict no polyester rule (thankthelawd). With its reclaimed wood and exposed brick walls, its well-curated wares, and its social advocacy and support of the DTES, Community Thrift could easily upsell cool to the masses. But they don't. And I love them so much more for it.

The selection was very hip & trendy, even though they label themselves as vintage. The abundance selection of scarves were impressive. I scored an authentic Coach wool scarf for $14 (Canadian dollars). It was in immaculate condition. I almost walked away with another scarf, but I had to control myself. I think if you're looking for a good selection of gently used unique scarves, this is the place to check out.

I came across that the men's store and luxe boutique had a very red carpet grand opening party, but a bit disappointed not to receive an invitation given I was told we will be invited, felt like a fool really, knowing we are a longstanding support of this store. It does not erase years of positive experiences, but with all social media buzz, we understand things can pivot, but being remembered as a loyal customer would have meant something. Looking at the insta post, Turnabout's grand opening was full of smiling customers. I understand it's optics and you have to put out a grand opening as the consignment game is saturated, but the old timers like myself who kept the doors open all these years weren't on the list. Come on, you guys can do better. Did we feel special? Nope! Thanks guys. I don't know what customer service is this! Disappointing.
