Just adopted a new pup and she needed a wellness exam, so thought we would give this Vet a try. Took her in and she is a little dog reactive and they were great with making sure there were no other animals around when we brought her in. The vet tech and vet were both great. We had to take her back about a week later (clumsy pup is good at running into things and cut her head) and they were able to get her in right away. Saw another vet and she was also great! Poor pup needs a procedure and they were able to provide a quote right away which is so helpful. The communication with this clinic has been great. I'm not sure what happened here--it used to be great many years ago. They cared and tried to work patients in. Now, it feels like the staff doesn't want to be bothered. Something unfortunate happened to my dog here, and while I understand accidents happen, the way I was treated left me upset. When I picked up my dog's ashes, they included another dog's collar and didn't even apologize (if they are mixing up dog collars, what else got mixed up)? I took my sick kitty here for a 9am appointment and I was seen right away! My cat had been vomiting for several days and Value Pet Clinic was the first place in Renton I could get an appointment. I was hesitant at first, because several of the Yelp reviews mention long wait times, but this was not an issue for me at all. Value Pet Clinic was happy to take my cat Salsa on short notice, and I appreciate their willingness to fit her into their busy schedule! The vet techs and vets were all very kind and professional. I really appreciated that the vet tech just let my cat wonder around the room and get comfortable- I've been to other vets where they want the animals to stay on the table. In the end, they were able to get my cat up to date on vaccines and give her some nausea meds for her tummy ache. The vet showed me the cost of each thing and asked if I was comfortable with it before doing anything. Another thing I appreciated was that they let me know about things to look for- if anything changed they asked me to call them right away to take additional action to help Salsa. They also sent me home with some medicine for Salsa and she's been doing a lot better ever since. I highly recommend texting Value Pet Clinic for an appointment! Value Pet is pretty terrific. They're pretty economical. Vets are never cheap. It's not a cheap thing. You aren't taking your cat to the vet for $50, it just doesn't happen. About this place: The staff here is kind and sympathetic, the drop in system is slower than a regular vet with appointments but you're saving some money. I'd estimate you save 40-50% over a regular vet. They're very good about providing quotes, letting you decide what you can afford, and adjusting to help. I see a few crabby reviews- I've been here off and on for years and liked every vet I've had. Now, back to the money thing. I understand being money smart AND that there are times money is tight. For that reason I suggest a couple things: 1) Go to low cost vaccination clinics (pet stores always have fliers) so if your pet is attacked you aren't facing immunizations as well. 2) Watch your pet- if you see something weird get it looked at as soon as possible. Many things are treatable at home but if you wait until the pet has an infection or is so bad they need an IV you're going to spend way more. 3) Don't get a zillion pets. Spay/neuter those you have and keep an eye on their health. I know you love animals, but you'd do more for animals by volunteering at a shelter, or donating to a rescue than taking in a pet who needs care you can't afford. I have always liked the vets here although they tend to be ever changing. I have taken my dogs here faithfully since 2005. I'll be completely honest- they have always been slow. I would take my poor ailing pup and wait in the lobby for up to two hours on average. Super annoying but I figured all vet offices are like this... yes? Today was finally enough for me to write this review. I get to my appointments on time, every time. I am conscious about being there to pick up my dog in a timely manner, as well. I realize this office can be busy. Today... I waited two hours for routine vaccination appointment and was made late for work. In an effort to be there on time to pick my pet up, I had groceries melt in the car while I waited outside with no word how much longer or that I could go home and come back for her (although I will be honest in saying that I should have known better with this clinic). So.... WARNING. BE SURE TO BOOK OUT YOUR WHOLE DAY, at least three to four hours, muster all your patience, take the day off for any routine appointment. This place is and always has been as slow as molasses. They also try to upsell you on services and I am guaranteed a weighty bill every time I go. If it weren't for the vets I like here, I'd just find a new office. I dropped my pet off for a 10:30 routine vaccination appt, we arrived at 10:20, she was brought in at close to 11am. It's now 1:20 pm and still no word of her being ready. This is how they normally run. read more

We have been taking our kitties here for several years. They offer the ability to text, which makes communication so much easier. They return phone calls, almost always answer the phones, and send courtesy emails and texts to see how your pets are doing after they go home. Outstanding service! Recently, our dog got a broken leg. After initially getting a cast at an emergency clinic elsewhere, we have been taking her to VPC and the staff there are great. They know us by name, welcome our dog with so much love, and accommodate our hectic schedules. I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes once I arrive. Super grateful to have found this place. I've been taking my pets here for about 4 months now, and have had good experiences (I think 5 visits total for 3 pets so far). We haven't experienced any really long wait times, certainly no more than other places. The staff is friendly and professional, and both vets I have talked to were informative and seemed like good, experienced people. They'll finally tell you that they are experiencing long wait times and it may take months to see a vet. This of course is delivered by a bot and you never actually get to even queue. Who ever heard of doing routine lab work on dog that's healthy. I had already written them off because of this habit. It happened to me with all 3 of my dogs. Recently I had to have one of my dogs put down. They were the only ones with an open appointment. I thought what could go wrong. Boy was I wrong. I brought my cat here based on the many 4-5 star Google reviews... This review is based on my experience bringing my pet here for treatment a number of times over the period of a few months with mixed-results, some good, some not so good. He eventually died. I feel this facility is okay for the occasional visit or two, but not a good place to bring your pet for serious illnesses. In my experience, I think the vets could have been more detailed in diagnosis and explanation to me, possibly selected better treatment at times..., better scheduling, better follow-up, and alerted me to bring my pet to an emergency hospital such as the Blue Pearl for treatment (they did once for IV fluids which I had done at Value, but didn't do a week or two before his demise though I'd brought him in and he was very weak). You also cannot be sure which vet will be there to look at your pet, so there is less continuity of treatment. There was no way to electronically communicate at the time such as email (virtual visits added after our pet died). We felt somewhat abandoned near the end despite many visits... Our cat came home with blood in his urine and drops of blood on our floor after he had a needle urine draw from his bladder after one visit. The vet said "let me know if it continues". Is that normal? I think it stopped, but did it cause internal damage or later infection? Wait times for dropping off and picking up pets can be 30-90 minutes. Pet ultrasound diagnosis is outsourced to a visiting tech and costs $500+. You may have to wait several days to get it. We tried to schedule towards the end. The front desk person said they would call back the next day...they never did though it was several days before his death. The vet who examined our pet at the end (Dr. K) shortly after he died on the way over acted callously essentially saying 'we all go sometime' and didn't offer any words of sympathy to us, though the front desk person said "I'm sorry for your loss". But the vet did say "have a good weekend" to the front desk person as she walked away from us and we grieved crying next to our dead pet of 11 years... read more

Very grateful for the kindness, compassion, and efficiency of the staff at this clinic. Last year, when our elderly dog just laid on her side and did not move for a day, I called several clinics and Value Pet in Renton was the most responsive and compassionate over the phone. They fit me in for the next day but I did not have to bring our dog in because out of the blue, she got over what was ailing her and bounced back! I kept Value Pet Renton's number on my phone because I knew I'd be calling them when it was really time. And sure enough, 2 weeks ago, our 16.5 yo dog stopped eating and could hardly move. She had been regressing rapidly the last month so we knew there was no turning back. Value Pet Renton again spoke to me several times on the phone, was very kind, and explained what to expect at my appointment the next day. When I got there, they were quick to come out with a stretcher to help carry her in but still took time to pet our dog before transfering her. We were put into a room right away, and everything was done in a gentle and efficient manner. I was thankful that this chapter of 16 years with an affectionate pet growing up with the kids closed peacefully. These folks are awesome. Period. I have had many great experiences with them, but they really knocked the ball out of the park today. My pomeranian was attacked by several coyotes in our backyard. I startled them, and they dropped him, but he was in really bad shape. I called ahead to see if I should head over or go straight to a "emergency clinic", and was told to come on in. Arrived soon after, and they helped me get the dog into an exam room immediately. Dr. K was in the room within a few minutes, and got some drugs on board to make my dog as comfortable as possible. She explained what she knew she was going to have to do, and also what she "might" have to do, and said she would call to let me know how it was looking once she got him under anesthesia and shaved so she could assess the damage. Got a call about an hour later with the prognosis ( basically that he looked a lot like swiss cheese once he was shaved down). She did surgery to patch him up, and made him as comfortable as possible. When I arrived to pick him up, she spent lots of time filling me in on the surgery, follow up, etc. One of the vet techs even made him a "metal of valor" for surviving his "meet and greet" with the local coyotes. I will not go back to this office. While the staff is very nice it is obvious that they will rip you off. I have gone there twice where they have wanted to do unnecessary testing. I mFirst off, when you arrive they give you paperwork asking if you want all these extra things. I went with my dog and I was almost positive he had conjunctivitis. When we went into the exam room, the vet came in and the first thing she wanted to do was check him for glaucoma and see if he has a scratch on his eye. She never even mentioned conjunctivitis. I agreed to the test to see if he scratched it but not the pressure test for glaucoma! He is only 1.5 years old, I doubted it was that. She never even said it could be just conjunctivitis/pink eye which is the most common. When I asked if it could be conjunctivitis and said isn't that more common she said not really. Lies!! So they took him back for the the scratch test when the assistant came back she said "it looks like there is a very small scratch and she would like to test for glaucoma. I said fine and agreed. They returned and said the pressure was fine. They said they were going to give him an ointment for his eye. I looked at the damn ointment and it was and antibacterial that will treat conjunctivitis. Why couldn't they just give me that in the beginning to treat either a scratch orconjunctivitis? Although he wasn't scratching his eye, they wanted me to buy a damn cone which I refused. I will not be going back to this place. I left with a $150 dollar bill which should have been half that. read more

I had been taking my cat, Gigi, here for a few years, always exceptional service. Last week, after being sick for awhile, I took Gigi in and they got her in immediately. After running tests and realizing that there wasn't much to be done, the Vet (I do not remember her name) came to me and we discussed all the available options. I decided it was time to end her life and the vet couldn't of been more professional and caring. It really made an extremely tough decision easier. Ok, seriously LOOOOOVE this place!!! They are so kind and gentle with the animals and it doesn't hurt that they DON'T charge an arm and fricken leg to help you animal. I am totally one of those that would sell my soul to help my pet and they know that! But they never over medicate and are very open about options. The renton clinic also partners with another clinic that is 24hr emergency and they're also very nice and open about stuff. We called and they said it was something that could wait and that's nice! Though if we had brought her it it would have only been $99 for the exam (compared to other emergency places that have charged me $150+ just to step in the door) We also LOVE Dr. Beestman (sp?) she's awesome with our pup! She will sit on the floor with her (I've been to vets that force the dog to be on that cold steel table that ALLLLLLL animals HATE!) and coo to her until she's comfortable. If I could I'd give a negative review, I would. Yesterday morning my rabbit was dazed not breathing well and hurt. He must've fell from his platform late in the night. We took him to many vets due to vets not being in and busy schedules. We stopped by this one and when we walked in they said they didn't take rabbits but seeing how exhausted he was they took him to the back to a vet and when they came out and the first thing they said was he was dying and that we should put him down... Long story short we said no and we took him to 2 more vets and he's sitting next to our bedside today, walking around eating breathing and back to normal. This place you must make a appointment to do an appointment that day. They do not make appointments for another day and only are open daily till 4 PM. You can only call starting at 9AM and keep calling till hopefully can get through before 9:45 PM, sometimes earlier than that. They'll be full by then and have to call again another day. The problem is the phones are always busy and once put on hold will not get back to you till 30 minutes later if then even. They don't care if your dog or cat has been seen there in the past, for me 3 times as saw Smokey, my dog. So since cannot get through even for a one week follow up like the vet wanted me to do to get a lab test done. Couldn't even do that. Stay away from this. They call themselves heroes but deal with animals and are not trying to save people's lives like those who work with people in healthcare the real heroes like me! Horrible experience here from wait time, billing and follow-up. I brought my dog in for a wellness exam and was told it was a 1 hour wait. I waited for over 4 hours even though the staff kept telling me 30 more minutes. The vet ordered follow up tests and I was told the results would be back in 2 days and it took a week. Then they over-billed me for the office visit from the quoted amount they gave me. I took our 12 year old Shitzu/Poodle mix, Frankie, there to get a tumor on his lip removed as well as a dental cleaning. Dr. Blackburn was our surgeon and vet. She was excellent in explaining everything before and after the surgery. I had several questions the week following the surgery about the results of his bloodwork and the medications that were prescribed. She answered all my emails and was helpful, caring and professional. I would highly recommend her and Value Pet Clinic based on my experience. read more

Value Pet Clinic is invaluable to me and my elderly cat. The current chaos has caused the clinic to set up new protocols that are easy to work with, and the staff really has the process down. While I couldn't be inside with my kitty, I knew he was in good hands. He's good, shots current, ears cleaned, claws trimmed- the staff is so good with him. I would recommend that they hire one more person- solely responsible for phones & scheduling- as it is needed. read more

This vet has gone down hill so much. Every time I come in there are issues and the staff rude, impatient and there's always, always an excuse. They are rude to the patients, providers, other staff and other clinics. Appointments magically disappear, they are cruel to the animals if they don't like you, make you wait if they also feel the need. They use to have such wonder staff and customer service but now if I could give this place a zero rating I would. BC she wrote his RX wrong we could not get his meds filled... he cant miss a day of his seizure meds.. even though they messed up they wanted to charge me 20 bucks for 2 pills ..... WHEN they couldn't right the RX correct.. go they also dont answer the phone or call you back if you leave a voicemail. I've always trusted and appreciated this place for the affordable service and the ability to be seen same day, but it has steadily been going downhill. The wait times have been getting longer and longer and it has come to the point where I can't spend all day at the vet for my dogs to get shots. We have had to wait over a hour to be seen and then in the room they will make you wait for another hour to see the vet and then wait again outside to get the bill. The last visit was the final straw, my wife signed in and waited for a hour and noticed two people who came in much later then her get called in. She told the receptionist this and their reply was that it would be another hour. She should have been next in line but they wanted her to wait for everyone who had come in after her. It was ridiculous because it was an error on their part, but they wanted her to wait two hours for shots. We have had it with the extremely long wait times and will be going to another vet with scheduled appointments so we don't waste time with this nonsense. read more

During COVID, you couldn't walk in with your animal. You had to call in the morning, get a time to come, let them know when you arrived and wait in your car. I got there on time, talked with the receptionist and was told that it would be a little bit. After 45 minutes in my hot, sunny car, I waited on the sidewalk by the door. After one hour and 10 minutes when a technician came out for another person/animal, I complained to her about the long wait and after a few minutes she took my cat. I was only there to get my cat's nails trimmed. It would have been appreciated if they had let me know that they were running late and the wait would be long and offer to let me leave my cat there or come back later or schedule for a different day. I think I would have waited longer if I hadn't spoken up. I called the vet later to voice my irritation and she agreed that communication should have been better. read more

I have been using this clinic for a long time. Wait times continue to increase as do the charges for simple exams and vaccinations. Last time there was a 3 hour trip from start to finish - WAY too long! I received an estimate of almost $1700 to have my dog's teeth cleaned and the loose ones pulled - the estimate cost me an exam fee. Two days ago, at a different vet's office, I paid $509 for the work!
