From Start to Finish Val was right on time picking us up for the Nantucket Tour. Her previous experience in the Nantucket Historical Association lends itself to her precision history tour of the island. We loved her feisty energy and intelligence. She absolutely can customize a tour to hit all the important, interesting and fun sites. She is also knowledgeable about flights and airport timing. She did drop us at the airport at the end of our tour. We will be back next year (hopefully) and would have our friends/guests/family do this tour with Val! read more

I gave them a 1 star because i had no choice to leave a review, i just called at 3:40 on 9/11/22 to book a cab for tomorrow morning at 0545. They are literally a football field away from my house, i actually grew up with the family in our neighborhood. I'm not sure who the guy was that answered the phone but he was absolutely the rudest piece of crap that has ever answered a phone for a cab company. He said absolutely not, way to early. I said no problem I'll try someone else if you don't want my business. He responded we don't need your business, we have enough and then he continued to bitch about me trying to book a cab that early. To Val Ryder or Robert ( Bob) I'm not sure what the deal is or who's running the show over there, but that guy was absolutely a business owners nightmare. read more

We had no reservations but a pre-booked tour duo had missed the boat, so got a morning tour for three of us . It was wonderful. Val is so knowledgeable after 54 years on the island. She is a Nantucket treasure. We got very lucky. She knew the streets, was a courteous driver, was solicitous of a gentleman with disabilities from the other couple on our tour, and hit all the highlights of the tour, but not by "driving too fast." read more

We utilized Val's Cab, specifically Yosif Badluski, when we were on Nantucket, from 4/9/2024 to 4/16/2024. Yosif was fantastic! Rather than renting a car, we utilized Yosif for all of our transportation needs. We realistically used Yosif 50 times in the week we were there, as most of our trips were business related. Yosif was extremely courteous and punctual, and incredibly accommodating to our schedule requests. I would highly recommend Yosif because of his 17 years of experience of driving on the island, and his knowledge of restaurants and businesses in the island! read more

This review if for Val's tour, not her taxi service. Val was a rock star who picked us up for a last-minute tour of the island that ended up being private, thanks to stormy weather predictions that scared off other visitors. She reversed her usual route to ensure that we could see Sankaty Head Light before the rain rolled in (which, by the way, began approximately three minutes after she dropped us off at the end of our outing!). We made our way through 'Sconset, took photos at the lighthouse, stopped at a cranberry bog, drove by the Old Mill, and checked out several of the most quintessential Nantucket homes. Along the way, Val gave us lots of history as well as a good sense of life on the island from the perspective of a long-time resident. I really didn't want to miss the sunrise on my first visit considering the treacherous weather on my first day...okay, treacherous is probably a stretch... Uber and Lyft hasn't been too reliable here, so Val's Cab took my call at 4:32AM to take me to Siasconset Beach just in time for sunrise at 5:06. The driver understood the ask and said sure. When it was 15 minutes past the asked pickup time, we called back and they responded with "I'll check I'll check." and then hung up the phone. They never showed up... Like I said when I started, if you need an unreliable cab, look no further than Vals. Otherwise make the same choice I did and get an Uber. read more

We booked taxi for my MIL and her friend, both in their 70s. They waited outside early, and taxi never came. We had arranged it that morning. Driver said no one was there, when we called. They were actually sitting in driveway, so thats not what happened. We live on India St and driver prob missed address and kept on going as its a busy street. When we called he was rude, and offered no help. My MIL and her friend missed the very pricey garden tour that we had gotten for them. Our B&B concierge called this service for us. Unlike other services we'd used, Val doesn't like credit cards. We were informed of this when we arrived at our destination. Val was much put out that we dared use a credit card, and grumbled rudely and condescendingly about it. We usually tip well, and we appreciate a small businessman trying to get by. However, I really don't need a snide attitude on my vacation when we did nothing wrong. Perhaps you'll get lucky and catch him on a good day, and he'll be nice. Or not. We won't be taking that chance. There are other places to give my hard earned dinero. read more

Super nice and hard working crew. Very friendly and helpful. These guys deal with a lot of obnoxious tourists and I totally back them when they choose to stand up for themselves and their company. If you want to support hardworking people, call Val's, they are really cool and here to help. I called this morning to get a taxi to the airport. He said he'd be there in 10-15min. I waited 20 min, and called to check in on the taxi's eta. I cheerfully asked when I could expect the taxi and the dispatch yelled at me saying the previous customer he was picking up was 10 min late, and he has no control over other people and if I should "just find another way to get to the airport". I said, "I understand delay, but I still need a ride, so what time can I expect you?" He replied with 6-7 min. I waited 40 min, he never showed up or answered my calls. What a jerk. Just called Val's Cab to get a ride for my family plus my father's military service dog. The driver said he didn't feel like going to the car wash after to get rid of the dog hair so he passed on the job. Clearly he doesn't realize that it's against the law to refuse service to anyone with a service dog of any kind. Needless to say this kind of thing happens too often because people are ignorant to the laws that apply to service dogs in America. And by the way, my father, an Army Colonel of 27 years, shouldn't have to deal with this sort of treatment. Val's cab service, or at least this particular employee doesn't deserve our business if they can't respect those who fight for their freedom to continue living their life as a lousy cab driver/human being. read more

If you enjoy being swindled, rest easy friend, your search is over. A few days ago, I realized that Val's charged me over 20% more than the price the cabdriver stated to me when he dropped me off. When I called to get it straight, I was blown off by the customer service rep they have working the phones. Well done, friend. Called and reserved a 11:30 pickup to the ferry with 2 bikes. They handed my reservation off to another taxi service that showed with no way to haul bicycles. We had to load our gear into the taxi and ride our bikes to the ferry, not what we paid for. When I called Val's to find out what's up I got a bunch of attitude and no solutions. We called Val's around 10am to get us to the airport for a 1pm flight. Dimitry was our driver and helped get our luggage into a very comfortable van. He knew a lot of shortcuts so we arrived at the airport on time despite being a few minutes late at pickup. We would definitely ride with Val's again! read more

We were very disappointed in the (non) service provided by this cab company. I called the night before to schedule a cab pick-up at 10:30 a.m. the following day to go to the airport. On the following day, no one had showed up at 10:30 so I called and was told that the driver was 5 minutes away and was delayed by traffic. The driver never showed up and 15 minutes later, I called again and was told that my reservation was not in the system. They told me they would call me back after researching. They did call me back but told me there was nothing they could do. I responded by telling them I was calling Uber which came to pick us up within 4 minutes. read more

Called for a pick up in April 2015. The driver arrived promptly (as promised) in a clean, Toyota Sienna. Happily helped us load luggage, install three car seats, and wrangle everyone in the car. Asked our preferences for temp, radio, etc. Brought us directly to where I asked to go, using what I know to be the most efficient route. Chatted about island, and family friendly places. Helped us unload, and lugged the heaviest bags. I would absolutely use and recommend. The driver was foreign, but had a strong command of English. read more

My family was in Nantucket for a wedding, and I called Val's for a ride from downtown to our B&B because my 9 year old daughter was tired (and I had forgotten to sunblock her). The driver told me 10-11 minutes; after 18 minutes, I called to check in. He said he was in traffic and would call right back to explain; after 5 minutes and no call and no cab, I called for the third time. He again said he needed to call me right back. I waited another 5 minutes, like a total idiot, and finally figured out that he had no intention of calling back or showing up. read more

what an unpleasant experience, i would never use this service. we called val's @ 8.14 pm this evening to get a lift from town out to madaket for dinner and were told we'd be picked up in 10-12 minutes. when i called to check on the pick up 11 minutes later, the man was first very offhand about the pick up time, then very aggressive that the pick up time would be fine when it happened. ugh, so glad i cancelled so that we won't have any more contact with this rude rep and company. read more
