I have lived in different states with about a handful of different apartments. I can say with the strongest conviction that these apartments have been the absolute worst for numerous reasons. 1) in my almost 2 years of living here there has been about 3-4 complete changes in staff. I feel like every 3-5 months there are completely new people working the front. 2) every time I talk to a staff member they are lackadaisical in their demeanor and they way they answer my questions. 3) they have numerous add ons to your monthly rent so I ended up paying over $1,300 a month for a two bedroom. Which is what you expect for an apartment in Austin or San Antonio... but not Harlingen. It would have been reasonable if that price also came with nice interiors... but out of all the apartments I have lived in, valor has been the absolute worst. There are numerous NEW apartments and townhomes being built in Harlingen. Valor should be your absolute LAST CHOICE. read more

This place is horrible and I've only stayed due to not having the time and energy to pursue legal Every thing is the residents fault and nothing gets fixed, just patched over. Mold on the vents, leaks, AC never works, random inspections that either never happen as planned or that only happen for specific residents. Yalls responses to these reviews prove that y'all take no responsibility and just want to charge OUTLANDISH rent prices for below mediocre living and fake luxury. Y'all should clean up the halls and stained stairs instead of painting lipstick on poop. Appliances are below standards. Storage space is limited and nonsensical. Why is the "pantry" 10 feet deep but one foot wide and 3 feet between the shelves. Why are the refrigerators so small? Why are the dishwashers disgusting? Why is everything someone else's fault? Why are the fees increasing when the value is poor and declining every second? Why do you all send threatening, grammatically incorrect, rude, last minute and condescending emails daily when you don't hold up any of your end of the deal? Why am I coughing and sneezing everyday due to moisture and probable black mold and you send maintenance to do cover up jobs that only last a week because NEWSFLASH you can't get rid of mold by painting over it! read more

The Valor is completely unorganized! They have new staff constantly and they never get back to you on time when you report anything! MOLD was found in multiple buildings and in the ventilation system. Reported it twice and they did NOTHING. When I spoked to other tenants in the building that had the same MOLD problem, the tenants informed me that the Valor community department just painted over the mold and gave air purifiers to "solve" the problem. Shoes and clothes were RUINED. Moved out due to the issue and all they told us was it was our fault somehow! Valor community director did nothing to solve the problem! What a lie. I talked to the people before I called the office. They told me they were visiting with their dog. Visitirs are not authorized to bring pets, are they? So how is that dog authorized? It looks like a nice place to start but it isn't worth the money. The rules don't make sense. If you want an actual view of your lease you have to go online. They give you a short version when you go in person. Make sure you look at the apartment you're actually going to move into before you sign because I guarantee you that it isn't the same as the show apt or the "pictures" they have online. I've been at Valor for a year and am still missing smoke detectors, black mold on the vents the filter for the fridge has not been changed - the rules that in referring too; you can't have a grill on the porch or patio, well you can have 2 chairs and a few plants that's it. Don't bother going into the office to ask for anything maintenance is sketchy about timing. It's not an ideal place to live. read more

Alex the leasing agent is great! Always eager to help out. The other lady in the office isn't friendly at all. She always acts like it's a chore to answer questions or even get packages that you have in the office. I love the apartment. Theres a couple downfalls! There isn't an area for the kids to play and parking can be a hassle. If you pay your rent by debit/credit card just be ready for a $12-$24 processing fee. Changes monthly. read more

We just moved into to Valor at Harlingen Apartments and do far so good! This complex is very well kept and the apartments are very nice. Love that this complex is pet friendly and the gorgeous pool is also a plus. Rebecca was such a delight and got our lease done in no time at all. The pool is practically open to non-residents and has fleas from the dog park. The apartment corridors are filthy with spider eggs/cocoons peppered all over the walls. I'm posting a new and updated review to assist future residents seeking housing just as I did in July. The move in was horrible. The office staff could of made it GREAT but it was horrible: apartment wasn't ready, wasn't clean, garage wasn't ready, and office staff was for the most part not helpful at all. After speaking to neighbors the concerns regarding Office Staff have been reported to Corporate repeatedly, so if you can get over the initial contact and not have to deal with them afterwards, it may be a much more pleasant experience for you. I just send my husband to deal. That being said, we think the apartments are lovely; nice grey interior, hardwood floors, high ceilings. Very thick walls and sturdy structure as we never hear any of our neighbors. The kitchen is roomier than most apartments and there is a very good amount of storage space all throughout the Unit. The grounds are very well maintained and very spacious. Multiple LEOs reside on property and it appears to be a quiet, safe, pet and family friendly community. There are ALOT of transplants such as myself from all over the country. I've met people from Ohio, New Mexico, Michigan, etc. Those neighbors who appear to be Mexican Nationals seem to keep to themselves and not mingle much. Everyone appears to be working professionals or stay at home moms. The dog park is awesome if you have a large dog that needs to run. Due to my complaint to Corporate Office, new doggie poopie stations were put up so now they appear to be easily accessible for all residents. Only one trash receptacle for the entire property and no recycling is an inconvenience. Unfortunately the concrete is stained throughout the property due to everyone hoarding their yucky trash due to the inconvenience of the one trash receptacle so far from the majority of the property. The maintenance staff gets a thumbs up. Mine and my husband's interactions with them has been great. They are very kind and helpful. The front gate is sometimes broken and myself and many of my neighbors experience difficulty opening it with the hand held devices they provide you. If it was all about the Community, Maintenance, the grounds, and the Units Themselves I would of given 5 plus stars. If it was all about the Office Staff and my experience at move in, I would of given negative stars so I think a fair rating is somewhere in the middle. Happy hunting! read more

RUN! Don't get sucked in by the "luxury lifestyle". Don't let the pool fool you. Come summer the residents are run out bc they allow this to become a public pool. Yes it's pet friendly which is great but you will know it bc no one cleans up after there pets and there is dog poop everywhere. Management does not enforce any of the rule. Management here is a joke! Ask each person the same question and you will get a different answer. Someone will also tell you at first you qualify for certain discounts but when it comes time to sign the lease you will be told that whom ever told you that was misinformed and that no you do not get the discounts. It's a great sales tactic! Don't expect to get anything taken care of quickly. Everyone here has so many maintenance issues they can't keep up with the requests. The quality of the buildings is terrible. I can tell you every step the people above me are taking (no exaggeration). Living here is stressful bc there are always so many issues. Yes I know it looks great at first sight but if you are considering moving in here please reconsider. At Least speak to some of the residents first. The apartments look nice but are so cheaply built. You can hear everything your neighbor does. The dishwashers hardly ever work, the stoves start to have issues after a few months. Water pipes bust constantly, they don't spray the dog park as required, pool isn't always cleaned properly, and you can never reach upper management. They don't let you have your animals on the patio at all. Overall, the price is not worth it. They don't always fix damaged things in the apartment from the previous tenant. The assistant manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. Previous staff have been caught trying to keep packages that didn't fit in the mail center. Overall, I strongly recommend choosing another apartment complex. Dogs have continuously escaped from the dog park as the fence was not built properly. The trash center is constantly overfilled and left that way.(Which has been documented and reported to Health and Human services before.) Water usage is split between the entire building, not just your apartment usage.( So you could end up paying more than what you actually use.) Gym equipment is pretty cheap and some of the equipment has never worked. And the gates never work properly. read more

So far so good! I've been living here a little over a month now, and compared to my last apartment I Love it. The environment is so welcoming and the neighbors are all very nice. As far as controlling the pool usage, residents are given bracelets for themselves and guests so everyone needs to use them while at the pool that way people who don't live here are not using the pool. I have had to call maintenance for small things and they have come right away to fix the problems. The office staff has been very helpful, especially Lupe, she is AWESOME! The price is a little up there but you get what you pay for I have learned that from my previous apartment. The only downfall I would have to say is, unless you rent a carport parking space (assigned) or a garage (also assigned), all the other spaces are first come first serve and sometimes you may have to park a little far from your apartment. The complex is very animal friendly, even with a dog park. I wish the dog park had picnic benches however it is a great spot to let your dog run free and socialize for a bit. I moved here 5 months ago and was miserable in the beginning with rude staff and inexperienced maintenance men. We had new management take over about 2 months ago and they are great!! And now we have new owners and things seem to be running a lot smoother.. Office staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the new maintenance staff seem to know what they are doing. Property and office seems to look cleaner. I write this review at 5 in the morning because we're awake! Not by choice, but because the smoke detector decides to beep for the second day in a row, couldn't say anything on the first day because it was on a Sunday, and stopped at 10 in the morning, now its the one in our room, we have work today, looks like we're going to be zombies. Oh, since I have the time and I'm wide awake now let me list the other problems I've had; ants, the gate is almost always broken, the drain pipes which run along the buildings pop out during the fall and winter months which rattle obnoxiously and make it impossible to get any sleep, if you leave a message for maintained of your problems but request for them not to enter unless you are home...guess why they still enter. For the longest time I could not figure out what a loud banging was in the guest restroom In the middle of the night with what seemed to be an outpouring of water, finally became friends with the neighbors upstairs, and found out what it was! Their shower would struggle with some kind of water pressure then would push orange water out of some pipe hanging from the shower ceiling and their tub is stained orange!!!! Don't know if they've reported it but I find it hard for the office to have not been aware of that. The ants were a whole different situation, had to go buy poison at 3 in the morning bc they were all over! Discovered the hole they were coming from, notified the office and they said they would send someone to patch up holes, never did! We pay for a pest fee, I would assume ants would be included! Neighbor has ants as well and was pregnant at the time, went upstairs to apply poison for her in her room, she had to sleep in the living room that night to avoid inhalation of the fumes. Also, they say that no one will ever enter your apartment without someone from the office...LIES! They had notified us that someone would be coming in to check the fire sprinklers in the apartment, my husband was home that day and the gentleman did no knocking, entered, and entered with no one from the office! Then my husband found out he wasn't even with maintenance, he was an outside contract which had been asked for their services...SOMEONE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE WITH HIM!!!!! 5:30 AM and this thing is still beeping!!!! No call from the emergency number on the directory!!!! read more
