The restroom was unremarkable--but it was clean. The gasoline retailer has a convenience store component; it's nothing too fancy. The facility sublets space to Fatburger, Cinnabon, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, KFC, Subway, and Yogurtland. However, based on the hour of our visit, all of these kiosks were closed. In summation: Chevron branded gasoline; clean restroom; and a convenience store open 24hrs.

I brought my friends here on a Sunday early evening and it was their first time stopping here. It wasn't overly crowded and had just enough people to not feel cramped inside. This spot is right next to Popeyes as well, and the McDonalds area inside has plenty of tables to seat at. The McDonalds area used to be just a rustic old train feel so seeing it refreshed and with families and kids using it makes the 'station' feel more lively. There's some on-the-go souvenirs that tourists can buy if they happen to need something from one of the many vendors. The Thrifty's ice cream was pretty yummy, although we found it to be on the pricier side for just a scoop so beware! Upon entering, you can smell the strong scents of Subway. Only thing to look out for is that when we went back to our cars, we looked over and saw what looked to be a homeless person exiting out of the metal container on the corner of the parking lot. We got worried seeing the guy walking out towards an oblivious lady packing her babies in the car with her driver door left wide open. Please be cautious everyone!!! Luckily, some staff from the train station was heading over to throw away trash and the guy just minded his business.

Normally we fly to California, but we drove this trip for one particular reason - my LTP got a new car in November and he wanted to take it out on a road trip. Well, it's new to him, but much newer and better than his old car. This car was used at my future in-laws' beach house up in Lincoln City, OR, but after realizing that they don't drive it all that much (they drive up there from Vegas in their pickup truck anyway because they bring their two dogs with them), they decided to give it to him. I think the last time I was here was when my mom and I were on a road trip to Solvang to attend her friend's anniversary party back in 2017, and it really hasn't changed one bit. It was a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't packed at all. This is always a great place to sit down and take a break before hitting the road again (it takes about two hours to get here from where we live). We stopped at Subway, and I actually received a $20 Subway gift card recently from my choir as a thank you for participating in a solo part, which I didn't even think about bringing with me. Both of us got something that wasn't too big, but big enough to eat before continuing our trip, as we didn't have plans to make more stops before reaching our hotel. Their restrooms are a little outdated, however. Both toilets and sinks are manual and not automatic. The flush valves on the toilets are so short that I had to bend over as someone standing at 5'5", not to mention it was a little tight exiting the stall I was in. And they don't have mirrors above the sinks for some odd reason? This is a thing I never understood. This will continue to be my main stop anytime I drive to California. I've been here many times in the past and I'll definitely be back again.

They usually house a Chester's Chicken within and their fried gizzards are mmmmm mmmmm good! For the past two weekends I've gone to Las Vegas and both times stopped at the Love's in Barstow. Both times we were actually greeted by the cashier as we walked in. I don't know if that has happened to me at any gas station let alone consistently two weeks in a row by different people. And the workers at the Chester's were so super sweet and friendly. Is it living in Barstow that has everyone so nice? Maybe I've been underestimating this area. Last week Semaj hooked us up with some freshly fried gizzards. They were a little on the salty side but Semaj was so sweet and so cool that didn't stop me from enjoying them. This was my friends first time trying gizzards and she's hooked too. Barstow is too far to just make a gizzard run but this Love's is definitely going to be my regular stop to and from my Vegas runs.
