After a quick and seamless process to set up an appointment, I was seen by Michael McCusker, MD. After waiting for a very short time, my blood was taken (twice) and shortly thereafter I had a person-to-person session with Dr. McCusker. A young man in his thirties, Dr. McCusker took the time to have a clear dialogue with me, explaining the concerns from the CBC, and discussing concisely the potentialities of what might be going on with my blood. He stressed to keep both feet on the ground by saying "let's find out exactly what's going with you" before going any further. Dr. McCusker expressed empathy, but also emphasized that while we needed a solid diagnosis there wasn't an imminent emergency, which really put me at ease. I saw Dr. McCusker again for a second and final appointment recently to go over the results of an extensive CT scan and more blood work. Turns out, there's an anomaly with my blood cells (RBCs), a somewhat unusual condition that thankfully doesn't require further treatment. I've been very happy with the way SOA treated me overall from checking in, to the phlebotomy (nice folks) and the efficiency in scheduling further tests (the CT specifically). Dr. McCusker is without any doubt (one of?) the best physician I could have seen for my issue here in Winchester. I liked his personal approach, his ability to explain a complicated issue to a lay person like me, and his obvious ability to sympathize with this patient - and to my wife who accompanied me and was taking notes. She does that. I would recommend SOA and Dr. McCusker to anyone without reservation. I'm very appreciative of his professionalism and his caring attitude. Five Stars!

I answered his questions, but it was clear he wasn't really listening, because when he was typing up his notes and summarizing our interaction, he was putting the complete opposite of what I said on them! His excuse was simply, "well I don't know you, maybe you should go to a doctor that knows you already."
