Dr Ott…read more I want to publicly thank Dr. Ott at Selma Medical Center for the exceptional care and advocacy she recently provided me during a very serious medical situation. I have suffered from blood clots in my legs and lungs for more than 10 years. A few weeks ago, I went to the ER and was diagnosed again with blood clots and placed on blood thinners. During my follow-up appointment, Dr. Ott became very concerned about my condition and instructed me to return to Winchester Medical Center to be admitted for surgical treatment. Unfortunately, after spending nearly five hours in the ER, I was seen briefly by the ER physician, who never examined my leg and discharged me home. Dr. Ott did not accept that outcome. She spent hours personally investigating what had happened, reviewing records, identifying multiple errors in the ER doctor's report, and tirelessly advocating on my behalf until I was finally admitted to the hospital for the surgery I needed. What impressed me most was that she did all of this while continuing to manage a full day of patients. I later learned that the delays this caused in her schedule led to complaints from others, yet she never stopped fighting for my care and safety. Dr. Ott's compassion, professionalism, persistence, and willingness to advocate for her patient may very well have saved me from a much more serious outcome. In today's healthcare world, physicians like her are rare and deserve to be recognized. I will never forget the kindness and dedication she showed me. Thank you, Dr. Ott.

I had been using doctor Gopal as my regular medical practitioner for two years in 2010 when I first…read morestarted having symptoms of depression and anxiety; I had just been through a horrible break-up and she immediately tried to put me on Zoloft. I told her I would rather wait and try and get my own emotions under control, which she understood but it seemed every visit she was trying to talk me into a anti-depressant. After this fact, I started having strange issues of stomach cramping and blood in my stools and dropped 14 pounds in a month and she did several tests and diagnosed the problem as a bacterial infection. I was still having the same issues after medications she prescribed so she told me I just needed to be on them longer. After being prescribed the same medication three times, my symptoms kept getting worse so I finally asked her about a colonoscopy or referring me to have one. She REFUSED saying there was no need for a colonoscopy, that my symptoms did not indicate anything in this area. Several weeks later I was able to get my foot in the door myself with a local gastroenterologist, but before I could see him I was admitted into the hospital with worsening symptoms: I'm talking straight blood for stools, vomiting, severe cramping, severe weight lose, dehydration and malnourishment. The gastroenterologist that was scheduled to see me took over my case and scheduled me for a colonoscopy to find I had a severe case of Ulcerative Colitis that needed to be taken care of surgically or I would die. I refused to go back to see Dr Gopal after she had refused to refer me for a colonoscopy, which possibly could have prevented my health decline and possibly surgery in the first place. On top of that, when I called to get copies of my records to take to the gastroenterologist and another general practitioner, I was made to pay for my records! Needless to say, I will never recommend anyone to this doctor ever!
