I'll frame this review with a little context about myself. In 2009, I was trained to drive a medical van with SCR in Chicago. I understand wheelchair securement, and the ins and outs of SAFELY transporting disabled as well as elderly clients. Fast forward to June 4, 2025, I am now in a chair myself headed to one of my weekly appointments. Not including your seat belt there should be 4 points of contact (securement) with your chair. This is not my mandate, not a company mandate, this is a FEDERAL mandate and it's the same now as it was in 2009. The driver decides to only secure the front of the chair with 2 straps, nothing in the back. I requested that the driver properly secure the chair with 2 more straps to which he continually refused, saying that 2 was fine and "safe". Anyone with common sense (this driver and his supervisor lacked, we'll get to her later) knows that if this driver has to slam on the brakes I'll end up in the front seat or worse yet, through the windshield because there's nothing securing the back. So after the driver refused to properly secure the wheelchair I actually offered him a way out; hit the release on the stationary chair and I'll transfer to it and sit there instead. I would've hit the release myself but i couldn't find it. The driver also refused to release the stationary seat at which point I became absolutely irate, which I feel I had every right to because now this driver is purposely putting my safety on the line, and proceeded to transport me on an expressway in this manner. An argument and screaming match ensued. This driver was more concerned with winning an argument rather than doing his job SAFELY and correctly. Once I made it to my appointment and got settled in, I decided to give Valley a call to report this driver. I was immediately connected with his supervisor and the first thing she says with a nasty attitude is, "i HeArD yOu WeRe TaLkInG nAsTy To OnE oF mY dRiVeRs." I proceeded to explain to this woman WHY I was talking the way I was to this driver, he put my SAFETY on the line. You all ready for this? She responded by saying 2 straps were fine and hung the phone up in my face, lol, a "supervisor". I called Valley right back and they proceeded to put me on hold for 25 minutes then hang up the phone again. The third time I called back I went straight to voicemail. I told a social worker what happened and asked her to call for me to get the name of the driver and supervisor so I could forward them in my complaints to the proper agencies. They answered her call, and gave the name of the driver but tried to protect the supervisor and refused to give her name (I know who you are by the way, you can't hide dummy and your name has been forwarded to multiple agencies in the complaints: ADA, FTA, ODOT, DOJ Civil rights division). Couple days later, there was an internal memo at the company reminding all drivers to properly secure chairs using 4 POINTS OF CONTACT. To myself though, no acknowledgement of wrongdoing, no apologies. The only thing I got was a petty, childish, stupid piece of ghetto trash hanging the phone up in my face after saying 2 straps are fine. Let's sum this all up:
-If you or your loved one likes being transported in a UNSAFE manner, RIDE WITH VALLEY
-If you like having your intelligence insulted and being treated like an IDIOT, RIDE WITH VALLEY
-If you're cool with being IGNORED after obvious wrongdoing only to have the entire situation swept under the rug, RIDE WITH VALLEY. At every level (driver, supervisor, company) they had an opportunity to correct these issues by simply acknowledging they were wrong, apologizing, and correcting the issues. They failed at every level. It's unfortunate because most of the drivers are actually cool and that's what these reviews reflect, not the company itself. The company culture is disgusting, and i don't have to work there to see it. They'll probably try to leave a number and some other BS under this review to talk about this situation. I tried that already. Ride with MedPro, lol. read more
