Kem R Lawns

Turns out they had just cut them in half with their snow plow. We hired Kem-R-Lawns to plow our main drive from the street to the garage, not the governor's drive in the front of our house. We've had this service for 3 years now, and over that time, the governor's drive has NEVER ONCE been plowed (per our request). In fact as recently as 10 days ago when we received 9+ inches of snow, they came and plowed only the main drive. As you can imagine, I was quite surprised to see two men walking in my yard and discover that my extension cords had been severed. That alone was no big deal of course, extension cords can be easily replaced. What was surprising however was the attitude we received from both men, one of which was apparently Brian Kemerer, the owner of the company. I gather they were angry that I didn't open the door with a hearty Merry Christmas and hand them each a cup of hot chocolate. Truth be told, I had no idea who these men were and given I saw them in my front yard on Christmas morning, my first question was ..."who are you and what are you doing?" Brian was immediately angry and defensive. No apology for cutting our extension cords, rather they informed my wife and I that we should be more appreciative that they were plowing on Christmas day. Although my wife and I would have been perfectly happy if the plowing had waited until Saturday, we do happen to pay for this service. Despite my kids hoping for a white Christmas, truth is I don't control the weather. I assume there is no fine print in my contract that says Kemerer will plow only when it's convenient for him to do so. Quite frankly the quality of service Kem-R-Lawns provides has fallen SIGNIFICANTLY since Dave left the business and Brian took over several years ago. The spring "clean-up" is a joke, and the mowers are driven so fast on the lawn, it frequently tears up the grass, particularly when its wet. I've called and left messages with requests for additional services (removing bushes, trimming trees, installing new shrubs etc.) numerous times, only to go weeks on end with no return call. There are far too many lawn care companies out there for me to continue with someone who clearly does not value my business or place a priority on customer service.

As a new Board member for our HOA, I'm organizing a competitive bid for my neighbors to other firms who cover this North Park neighborhood.
