I make requests that are also not that easy to fulfill. You see, I have a brain that doesn't always work along the straight-line others expect. I order my steak burnt crispy outside, pink and juicy inside, my eggs just so; thus, I appreciate people who take the extra step to make me happy. This week, I wanted something special done, based on the layout of my office and my personal preferences. At first when I asked, I was told, it just wasn't something that is normally done. It seems there are rules. I didn't have the right documentation, and "they just don't make it that way." It wasn't going to happen until I met the right guy who also wanted to do the right thing. You see The Doctor was in and he said the words, "Well, sure, I can approve that." Since then, I found that this doctor has surpassed that standard of community service most of us would think of as just doing the right thing.

They couldn't find Federal Blue Cross Vision in their computer despite having a major Federal employer in the area! As a healthcare professional my self, masks are stupid! They are dirty, nasty -filled with bacteria! MERSA has gone up 80% since mask mandates and many other bacteria skin issues. These nasty things are handled over and over. If they want a mask, they need to supply one with the adhesive across the nose and eyes region so glasses don't fog! They make them to be worn in procedures for those who wear glasses!

I met with Dr. Gray and confirmed there was only a problem in my right eye. She gave me a chance to try glasses for the left eye only and keep the cataract as it was good close up and the other would be for distance. I had trouble adjusting to two different visions so we set up an appointment for surgery at the Vision Surgery and Laser Center. Someone called me to do a pre check-in. It was quick and easy. They sent texts to confirm my appointment and sent instructions for the day of the surgery. I arrived the day of the surgery with all my necessary items was greeted and check in was fast. I felt comfortable in the office. I was called back and was given a big comfy recliner with a warm blanket to rest before surgery. The nurse was nice and explained everything that would happen and how I may feel during surgery. They put a line in your arm so they can give you a 'twilight' anesthesia. The nurse had worked in the Operating Room fir 32 years so I knew she was capable of whatever was needed. Dr. Gray came in to be sure I was ok and ready. They took me to surgery and the next I know I was in recovery. I didn't remember anything about the surgery. The center is run extremely well with top notch support and medical staff. They cover everything to make you feel at ease with the surgery. The place is clean and, yet, warm and comfortable. A 5/5 is not enough for what they do from check-in through check-out!!

On 15 May 2022, Dr. Seely wrote me a letter stating, "...and am formally discharging you from my practice". He then continues, "(you have) a very serious and potentially blinding condition and in my opinion need to be under the care of ophthalmologist." I was FIRED from his practice, I think, because I CANNOT wear a mask. He did not indicate that in his letter to me, so I am assuming this is the reason. I am 79 years old, with breathing issues & heart issues & I cannot wear a mask. I politely offered to wear a shield, but that was not to his liking. They demand that every patient wears a mask. Here is their photo of their staff - hypocrites ! I would not trust someone of this weak stature with my eyes. Thank you Dr. Seely for sparing me any agony that I might have endured. Too many patients and not enough care givers. I called and spoke to Elizabeth but nothing could be done she said as that was the decision. WHY and how was that choice made? I am almost 73 and quite healthy so maybe I don't give them enough business or that I am just elderly. This facility has been where I have been going to for the last 30+ years first with Dr. & Cynthia Keys (amazing care providers) and then when ownership changed with Dr. Marie Hebert and Shannon a FNP (or PA). They both left the practice (surprise) and I was then informed (weeks ago) Rachel Hebert FNP would take over as my provider. Now I receive this surprising & distressful news just when I need to be taken care of. Has anyone else been notified about something like this?
