On August 31, I was offered the apartment as long as I could put down a double security deposit (due to credit history... don't judge) within 48 hours and we agreed on a move-in date of October 1. I dropped off a check on Sept 2 for the amount of the double security deposit, as well as a non-refundable pet deposit, and was called the next day to say a certified check was needed and that they would hold my personal check until they received a certified check in the mail. On Sept 9, I called to inquire if they had received the official check, and they informed me that they had not, and that the tenant had decided to stay in the apartment. When I initially looked at the apartment, the tenant was there and told the leasing agent that she had already secured a place to live and would be out no later than Sept 5. I find it hard to believe that they are being truthful about the tenant staying and have a sneaking suspicion that they probably rented it to someone else, despite having offered me the apartment. I have attempted to call the leasing agent several times today and have never gotten a return call. Previously, the leasing agent was much more responsive and available.

While she was very helpful in getting us into the house, even letting us move in early, the follow-up after we moved in was very poor. When we asked her questions by email, she would respond rudely. The house was infested with ants when we moved in - they did send an exterminator, who said that he couldn't treat the house while tenants were living there (it would be toxic and we had a newborn), but Milestone never followed-up with us about other solutions. We asked to extend the lease by 4 months, as we were moving out of state for work, and they refused, even though that meant we had no place to live. I can understand their hesitation to extend the lease, but the way that it was handled was very rude (again, Laura). When they were showing the house, they showed up an hour and a half before the time we were told, interrupting our breakfast. There was a garden area in the back that was severely overgrown when we moved in - we spent weeks clearing out the brush and planting veggies, and when we moved out, they demanded we plow over the garden, complaining it looked unsightly (even though when we moved in, it was briar patch we worked to repair). I would not rent from them again.

The lease contained typos and was never corrected / updated according to the Law. 1 clause stated that I was responsible for rodents and pests that may appear in the townhouse, 48 hours after occupancy. During Showing, Jennifer stated that tenants are not responsible for the care of the small lawn. Yet the lease stated the opposite. Getting Jennifer to correct the lawn care and other lease clauses, was a nightmare. There was a "Possession Clause" which stated that the property may not be available, upon the beginning of the Lease term, even though rent has been paid. The Lease was 1 sided and sketchy. When I asked Jennifer for a law-abiding lease, my request was denied.
