Edie and Berta seemed to know our needs, sometimes before we understood them. It was so comforting to have the nurses with knowledge of the hospice process in our home. Both Edie and Berta worked in conjunction with Androscoggin Hospice Care. My husband and I were so thankful to have Edie and Berta implement the care plan down to the last detail. I was told I would be charged $300 by the dentist, to which I replied I would not pay that for simple dental paste but needed to have it fixed. In the chair, the dentist bargained with me as though he were at an outdoor market, telling me he'd do it for $150. He yelled and screamed before making the very simple repair which was completed less than a minute later, spending much more time yelling than repairing. This was really an experience with a very mentally ill person who somehow is still allowed to practice healthcare. The receptionist was incredibly nice and felt terrible for me, she was mortified by what had happened, and the charge. This dentist simply should not be practicing. We (my sister and I) supposedly had numerous cavities on every visit we went and got them filled eventually. My sister unfortunately had teeth sensitivity issues after her fillings and would hurt to chew. Ironically while we were waiting one day to get her seen, a kid was coming out of the office after getting the same issue fixed! We ended up leaving this dentist and going to another dentist who after having other numerous dental staff looking at our mouth didn't seeing wrong and the supposed cavities we had that weren't filled, somehow were gone. The first month we were there they held a raffle for any new patients to win a gift certificate to a local shopping center. I ended up winning but it never showed up! Now after following the treatment plan that they mandated I will not be able to get the most important element of my care completed. Instead I'm left without the thing I needed done the most because I followed their recommendations. Im disabled and can not afford the new copay standards they will be implementing. Had they just provided me with the requested service that I desperately need then them changing insurance networks would not have been an issue. Now I'm stuck without any ability to obtain sliding scale or nominal cost services and instead would be required to expend resources that I don't have just to finish this properly. I honestly wish I had gone somewhere that understood low income disabled people have limited finances. Perhaps I would have received the care I requested rather than be told no and left without options. I really thought this place was going to do right by me as a patient but I guess I'm stuck out in the cold. I just want others to be aware of this phenomenon.
