Valley Immediate Care is now using AI to make appointments by phone. Their previous phone appointments with humans were not great, but okay. After a relatively lengthy period on the phone with their new AI system, I made an appointment for a flu shot, which was confirmed by the computer. At one point, I told the computer, "f--k you" as a test and to take a stand for human dignity with no response other than possibly a longer pause than the other long pauses. When I got to the appointment, I was told by a human that Valley Immediate Care does not offer flu shots. Now, I'm wondering if the long pause was the computer deciding the best way to get back at me. read more

Made an online appointment for 11:41 this morning. Got a text saying that they were 30 minutes behind, so came in at 12:11. The online process makes sense and is easy to use. They pulled me back into the room to see a provider around 12:55pm. At 2:11pm, and after sitting in a freezing cold room without anyone checking in for the last hour, when I asked for an ETA of being seen they told me there were "more complex cases" and it would be quite a bit longer. I left. Honestly, I'd drive up to the Providence urgent care. Not worth the gamble and time. read more

On Jan 2, 2024 in the early evening, my husband went to the Eagle Point, Oregon Valley Immediate Care because he had not been able to get to sleep and had run out of his prescription. Our PCP was not available, or we would have gone to her for help. We made the appointment with VIC, by phone, which went really well. That's where the "well" went down hill. The receptionist gave us a less than warm welcome and the check in nurse was cold, but efficient. Then the real slap in the face came.... The provider Gregory (I think a NP) came into the room and basically treated my husband like a drug addict. My husband told him the situation and was asking for (1) Ambient pill to help him get to sleep. Gregory said he was "not going to risk he medical license for this". He said people come in all the time wanting drugs to sleep. My husband explained he has a Class B Driver's license, gets drug tested regularly, and would not risk his profession either, but he needed to get some sleep. Just a week before this, he was tested for his annual CDL physical, which proved he was NOT a drug user. Gregory did not help us and told us we could go to ER, where someone could monitor my husband. When we were checking out, we got the summary of the visit, which said that my husband had a "life threating condition" and recommended going to ER. We did not. It was NOT 'life threating" - it was lack of sleep. The next day, our PCP was able to send in the order for the prescription. We have used VIC in the past and had great results, but we will not use any of them, unless it is a last resort and never where Gregory is the provider. read more

Got there at opening time , no appt. Did all the paperwork and nurse did vitals. Then I was told I didnt have an appointment so they couldnt see me . The doctor didnt feel my symptoms were severe enough to be seen ahead of people that had appointments so I was turned away to wait an additional three hours because thats when I could have an appointment. Outrageous . Luckily I was about to be seen earlier at Asante in Medford . I felt very disrepected and that they were very uncaring. read more

Over The Christmas/New Year holiday, I developed a very painful infection in my mouth. My regular dentist was out of town. In the middle of the night when the pain was so bad that I could not sleep, I remembered Valley Immediate Care and booked an online appointment for the next day. Yes, I had to wait a bit beyond my appointment time, but all of the staff were pleasant and professional. When I saw the doctor, he saw right away that I had an absess in my mouth so he prescribed an antibiotic and a pain medication which worked. Within a day or so, the pain began to subside. I have finally been able to see a dentist. I am so grateful that Valley Immediate Care was open when most places were closed, and that I got a competent, caring doctor. read more

$280 just for the "office visit fee", and you have to sign saying you'll pay it plus whatever the doctor decides to charge on top depending on what needs to be done.. "under doctor's discretion". The secretary was super sour from when I first walked in. It would be nice to be pleasantly greeted when going in for medical care, but for some reason it's somewhat rare. Was seen for a skin lesion that was not healing. The MD was abrupt, determined that all I needed was Neosporin and a band-aid. Was then seen by one of their dermatology specialists who examined and biopsied it, said they'd have results from their out-of-state lab in 7-10 days. Concerned, I went to a local ER. The MA made a correct diagnosis, prescribed appropriate meds, and the lesion has healed. read more

I am a bit surprised by the negative reviews because my experience at Valley Immediate Care could not have been better. I had a two inch laceration on my lower leg, made an appointment on line, showed up, waited about 5 minutes, and was treated by Madhavi Deshmukh. She was amazing. Calm, comforting, and competent. Painlessly stitched my leg and off I went. As for the cost, it would have been 3 times more in the SF Bay Area where I split my time between Ashland so I can't complain. read more

I came to Valley Immediate Care in Ashland while waiting to get in with my regular physician for a combination regular injury (lower back) and work-related injury(upper back). I just needed something to manage the pain until my appointment. My regular doctor had already put me on OMLA/FMLA (Medical Leave) until I could get in for a full appointment (she's very packed with patients so I only could see her for a few minutes and she couldn't do a full evaluation with X-rays, etc...yet. Until then, she told me to just use ibuprofen/heat/ice). I was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk well or otherwise so I went to VIC and explained why I was there. The Physicians Assistant on duty (not an MD) decided to give me X-rays. The X-ray technician was a very young girl who seemed unskilled and was making mistakes and re-doing things. 6 X-rays were produced and the PA said she saw curvature of the spine and maybe a cracked or broken pelvic bone (no x-rays were made of the other pelvic bone). She looked very concerned and said I would likely need long-term care for these issues. She said to use the heat/ice/ibuprofen but also added a muscle relaxer for the upper back strain (work-related). I was to use these 5 X a day (the muscle relaxer 2X). I thought that would be it and I checked out in anticipation of seeing my actual MD in a few days. When I got home, I looked at the paperwork and this PA had filled out a "return to work with no restrictions" form for Workman's Comp! What?! She had not even ASKED me about what I do at work, or about giving her advice as to a return to work. My actual physician already had me on Medical Leave which was in direct contradiction to this PA, and the PA's instructions for 5X a day for 5 days could not even be accomplished if I returned to work with no restrictions! I called the front desk to ask what the heck this was, and the girl said, "It's because it's Workman's Comp." Oh? So what, does she get a kickback if she sends people right to work with no restrictions even with a possible cracked pelvis, curvature of the spine and at least 5 days of heat/ice/ibuprofen/muscle relaxers until I can get in with my MD?? I decided to withdraw my Workman's Comp claim and have this go through my regular insurance but this PA would not change her absurdly inappropriate, if not dangerous, 'return to work' order! VERY poor and risky treatment and it cost me over $500! I'll never ever go back to this place. The young people at the front desk were kind and helpful, though. Nothing against them. read more

Great staff, quick service, affordable rates Sliced my forehead open on a Monday afternoon. Went to ACH Emergency, where I waited for 45 minutes without seeing any medical provider. Gave up and drove over to Valley Immediate Care, where I was in front of Tim MacCurdy within 15 minutes. Great job sewing it up, and great follow-up care to get the stitches out a week later. Hi! Great people (very nice) and no wait for my 3 year old.. she had a fish hook stuck in the side of her head She was fine, until... we had to take it out. Only complaint was I don't believe the Doc waited more than a minute from the time he shot the lidocaine in her head to the time he went in and tried to remove it. She was freaking out! He ended up having to make an incision and pull from the other end. I thought she was going to pass out her body was trembling. So.. I just came here to warn folks everywhere... wait about 4-5 min after lidocaine before working on the patient. She's all good now, 2 days later. No stitches were needed and kids are resilient! read more

Valley Immediate Care - a "doctor" named Megan - decided NOT to tell me about a danger with the antibiotic she prescribed for me because she thought the incidence of the reaction was not often enough to warn me. That was three years ago and I still am in extreme pain and loss of much use of both my arms because when the symptoms started I was not aware that the pain and loss of use of my arms was from the Levaquin antibiotic. When I told the head of Valley Immediate Care about it and wanted to file a written complaint, they dismissed me and the whole subject with no concern whatsoever for my experience and injuries. read more

Got here about an hour and twenty minutes ago, over an hour after using the online check in, at the time they told me to arrive to "be seen right away." When they checked me in and put me in an exam room, they told me the doctor was just finishing up with someone and we'd be next. That was over an hour ago. About twenty minutes ago, my husband opened the exam room door to all for an update and they said, "oh there's still two people ahead of you." No idea why they would tell us we were next if there were apparently so many people ahead of me... Or why they even had me come at this time if there were still so many people in the queue. There was no one in the lobby when we got here. It would be far better if they were just honest about wait times and numbers of people ahead of you. Then at least the people who are taking care of our babies for us could not also be having their day all screwed up. No point in online check in. read more

He talked to me about the problem I a having and was able to gave me more advice than the three Dr's before him. Thank you. Be prepared to wait for several hours (even if you do an online check-in), and to be shuffled from one room to the other while being told "the doctor will be right with you..". I went in for a very painful rash the other day and in my initial consultation, the technician asked me how to spell 'eczema' when I mentioned having a history of it. The first doctor I spoke with was over a video chat, which I wasn't anticipating nor did I particularly enjoy because of its inherent glitches and the pain I was experiencing. When I finally saw the in-office doctor she was able to diagnose what I had quickly... but I was only able to ask her a few questions before she disappeared to write a script and never returned. As I was leaving I asked the same technician from before a few of the follow-up questions.. she retorted rather tersely that she was "not able to respond to any of my medical concerns" and if I wanted to talk to the doctor again I could wait until she finished up with her remaining patients. I left and consulted the internet instead. I'm happy to have gotten a diagnosis and have gotten out of there... but next time I have an immediate medical concern this is not the clinic I will visit. read more

This place is terrific!! We are from out of town - but had a bit of a scare with our son with Special Needs - on the 4th of July. We arrived at the clinic and we where met with nothing but professionalism and warmth. The team listened to our concerns and then told is that the best course of action - which we gratefully listened too. I feel fortunate that we have a Covid testing sight in our community, but when the person coming to our car doesn't have gloves on--whew! Makes you wonder how safe it is to be getting tested. Come on! We are all trying to do our best...getting tested when you've been second hand exposed, but it doesn't feel great to think I might catch the virus at the testing site because of the negligence of your staff. Unless it's an emergency I would waste your money. I had a persistent miserable sore throat for 6 days and I went in to just get an antibiotic script. If my family doctor was in (it was a Sunday) he would have called it in at no cost. I was a CASH customer. I saw the intake nurse for 7minutes.... I timed it. Then they moved me to the treatment room and quickly swabbed my throat. The doctor came in and said I had step. I said duh, I know, I'm here for a script. She wrote me a script and I was on my way. Total time spent on me was max 12minutes. My bill with cash discount was $289.00. What a rip off. Further upsetting is my wife has the same thing,....,we were kissing, she gave it to me. I called in to get her a matching prescription and they quoted me an additional $250. This is the reason health care is unaffordable. By my calculations they are charging $1400 per hour for two employees. OUTRAGEOUS!! read more

We were on a trip and my husband went in with a nasty virus. After explaining he had further traveling and this same virus has turned to ear and sinus infection with other family members Dr Penner sent him off with decongestants. Three days later he has a perforated ear drum leaking pus!!!! We called this morning- they refused to do anything. So much for five day policy. Also charged us $259 for the visit. Twice as much as an office visit at our home in Washington. Thanks for nothing you incompetents. Trip shortened and two work trips cancelled because they involve flying. read more

It's not often that I leave a positive review for medical providers. I've fought tooth and nail with many, along with insurance companies, etc. However, Valley Immediate Care made a fairly minor mistake that required my daughter to come in for a second visit. After only verbally complaining to the front desk I was sent a full refund for the additional visit. So while they did make a mistake, they owned up to it and made it right without me having to call a dozen times and fill out a stack of paperwork in triplicate. My family and I will definitely continue to use this service in a pinch. read more

The worst medical experience I have had in my life. I come from a family of doctors, and have an immediate family member who works in Urgent Care. I know what compassionate care both looks like and feels like, and you will not find it at this unprofessional establishment. Dr. Penner was rude and did not want to help, and he also left my examination room out of nowhere, mid appointment, and did not return. I had to see myself out. I came in just to get antibiotics for an infection in my hand, and get a prescription needed to leave the country. It has taken over 2 hours to even get brought back to a room and then to be told that the insurance hasn't been processed yet, because in the past 2 hours they couldn't have sent the paper work to the insurance to be processed? So I am left to wait even longer to even be seen. In the past, at other locations, valley immediate care has been awesome, but today I am much less than impressed. If it was busy I would understand the wait, but it seems to be a very slow day here read more

This place is the most unprofessional medical situation I have ever experienced. While waiting in a room I could hear not only the staff and doctor out in the hall making fun of a young lady that had taken a fall, but I could hear every word of the doctor/patient (super) personal conversation in the next room! The "doctor" that saw me did not even touch the area injured or ask me to move it in ways to ascertain injury. And the front desk staff were moody and not paying attention. Ugh. read more

I had an infected foot which was not an emergency, so I decided to go first thing the next morning and was pleasantly surprised that they had an online check-in. They open at 9 am and since I didn't want to wait in line, I wanted to be seen as early as possible. They took my online reservation at around 8 am, and gave me a 9 am appointment. They said they would text me 20 minutes ahead of my appointment and they did, so I arrived at 8:50 and they were open and I was the only patient there, although within 10 minutes, 2 more patients walked through the door. I was seen first, and within 10 minutes of my arrival. I was happy with the treatment. I was seen by a Physician Assistant, which was fine because it was not an emergency and not a terribly difficult diagnosis or treatment. The time with the PA was 15 minutes and I did not feel rushed at all. The only thing I wasn't happy with was that the visit was $278, however, considering their costs and that they took me right away, I'm not disappointed at all. read more

The doctor who saw me insisted that I was having a heart attack and that I ought to be in an ambulance on my way to the ER. I was not having a heart attack and I knew it. Patient input wasn't important to this doctor, and I was put through various tests only to have it determined that I was correct. I felt that I had contracted a virus as per my symptoms, but my input wasn't entertained. I agreed to a CT scan, and no evidence of clogged arteries or scarring of the heart were in evidence. I would return to VIC for stitches or a cast, but I would be wary of this particular doctor's skill. read more
