I came in for severe abdominal pain and puking up coffee ground blood. As a 21 year old female I am usually dismissed since I'm "too young" to have health issues like that. But mister Kevin over at the emergency room took such great care of me, figured out what was wrong, ordered a bunch of tests, and due to the meds he gave me there I stopped throwing up within the first hour. Very kind kind man who must have daughters. Once he figured out what was wrong with me he sent me home after 4 hours and a bunch of tests, with three medications. I just woke up this morning and I feel sooo much better. No bloody puke!! Thank you Kevin Semmens!! I almost wanna ask specifically for him next time, which usually isn't the case as a 21 year old female that prefers women for health care. Brought my elderly grandma in who was recently hospitalized and was screaming in pain and couldn't even stand only to wait 3 hrs and see two young degenerate boys who were vaping and cussing loudly in the waiting area get to go before her and a lady who was sobbing in pain. The boy was getting 3 stitches removed! Absolutely fucking shameful and with the lack of care....maybe its best they close! read more

First of all, I do not like needles. Second of all, I did not like anything related to hospitals. Get the picture? However, my doctor and I agreed that I should get my blood drawn and just do a routine check. I went in RELUCTANTLY. Maria came out to get me very quickly. I never even felt it when she pricked me with the needle, thank goodness. She took five vials of blood because my doctor and I wanted to see what a number of reports would say. I was shocked at how quickly she finished. I never once felt her take a vial off the needle and put a fresh one on. I was amazed when I saw that it was all done in what seemed a few seconds. Maria is a goddess. I hope that I always get her if I have to go back at any future time. PS. I was really pleased that I didn't have anything wrong. I don't think I've had blood drawn EVER that I can remember so it was pretty wonderful to learn that things were OK. Thank you again, Maria!!! This is the 3rd time we have had an issue with this er. One bc of race not surprising. 2 the staff unable to help a non verbal child thankfully we got a new nurse who was amazing. This last time we had a child with a 104.3 fever the doctor refused to believe my husband and even the nurse who took the temp. My husband could hear a nurse make fun of our ND child. They refused to listen to my husband explaining that my child felt warmer on lower back and doctor refused to check as "your warm the same everywhere with a fever". Its terrible this is the only er close by. If you another yt and not NT good luck. read more

A recent illness I experienced prompted my visit to the Emergency Dept at Asante- Ashland Hospital. After trying my best for hours to avoid being a patient in any hospital, I ultimately caved and went in around 1:30 am. I was seen rapidly and received highly-skilled evaluation and care in the ED. I was admitted to the medical-surgical unit immediately where I stayed for five days. I am a nurse myself and was very pleased with the incredible compassionate and competent care I received from 'all of the nursing staff and attending hospitalists,' during my stay. If additional opinions/consults were required and not rapidly available on site-they could be acquired by telemedicine visit. Patients and families are advised if the hospital are unable to provide the specific services that are likely to be required. The nurses and staff rock here! So glad they are all working in Ashland and would not hesitate to acquire care for any family members at Asante-Ashland Hospital. read more

As in Ashland resident for 25 yrs I've had to visit the ER on a few occasions. I recall seeing Dr. Gerry Lehrburger in the past and I USED to trust this hospital. Dangerous, Unprofessional, Cruel --- I'll share my embarrassing Experience, so you don't have to SUFFER LIKE I DID. THIS IS THE WORST--- I called an ambulance BC I was extremely impacted. As I sat on my toilet, the EMT's said they needed to RUSH me to the hospital BC I could rip or bleed, if I tried continuing a BM @ home. I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN, AND SCREAMING. I thought AACH would give me an enema or try to lubricate the area to help "Move Thing along" but THEY DID NOT. I Was escorted to the bathroom, AND I BEGGED "PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO HELP GET THIS OUT!" The nurse left And returned 2mins later, and handed me a glove. She said "Put it on and break it apart as it comes out" SO, I was forced To do THAT MYSELF, NO Assistance NO lubricant, and NO Nurse standing by. After some of the BM passed, I realized I was bleeding out of my rectum. I press the call button and when the nurse came in, I told her I was bleeding. I WAS SO SCARED. She retrieved a pad And as she handed it to me, she rolled her eyes and said "HERE". Not ONLY did they NOT help with an enema or lubricant. I WAS NEVER SEEN BY DR only a nurse practitioner, AND I was NEVER examined to make sure I was NOT TORN. INSTEAD, They ordered an X ray and later told me, I was impacted and "Needed fiber and/or laxatives". This wasn't a one time experience. Another awful experience, I Went in for a severe migraine (Which I have suffered from most of my life, but hadn't in 4+yrs). Instead of giving me a bag to vomit in, The nurse escorted me to the bathroom. The nurse Walked out of the bathroom and wouldn't EVEN HOLD MY HAIR, as I threw up. Some vomit landed on the toilet seat. And when the nurse entered my ER room minutes later, she said... "Next time you throw up DON'T GET ANY on the toilet seat" As if I HAD A CHOICE Where my projectile vomit landed. What happened to DRS, Nurses and healthcare professionals caring about their patients? The way I was treated on a medical level was unprofessional. Was treated on a human level, was inhumane!!! PLEASE DO BETTER AASH!! read more

i liked this hospital until i was dragged through a year long issue with a bill that my insurance would not cover as it was billed as 'wellness' but it was not a wellness appointment. back and forth- OVER 20 HOURS of phone calls to my doctor, my insurance, billing office at asante- not to mention all the stress of repeating myself like a broken record and using up my daytime work hours to follow up on this repeatedly- and come to find out THE HOSPITAL CODED IT WRONG. it was not my doctors fault- which they were saying it was- it was a hospital error from the beginning. error was discovered in july 2022- i was told they would fix it asap. i called again in september 2022- someone dropped the ball and forgot to send it out. took them still another whole MONTH after that to send it out (the woman named ry told me it would sent out the next day). it was FINALLY submitted until 10/15/22. the original date of service was 11/5/21 i called billing 7-8 times in the course of the last year- each time someone would say 'we will do this' and next time i called the person would say 'i can see this was started but not finished'. add to this the fact that the error was asante's all along and it took 8 months for them to realize it and all i can say is just WOW. now we are well past my 180 days for submitting bills and my insurance is saying they cannot cover it. thanks asante! read more

I watched how the staff moved my elderly mother in her bed and caused her severe pain. My mother called for me and I went to her. The staff aggressively and hostilely reacted, and then proceeded to accuse me of being hostile and aggressive. The demanded I leave. The security staff is less than trained, the hostility that spread throughout the staff was childish and traumatic for both my mother and myself. I saw doctor song and screw these assholes. The dumbest people I've talked to in a hospital ever. I just moved here for work and don't have a new GP yet. So I made an appointment to get some medication I'm required to take everyday. The doctor didn't believe me, said I should seek therapy because "everyone who has what you have should"? Then when I wanted simple sti/hiv testing, which is routine for everyone, she questioned me why and didn't understand why I want that. When I have an explanation she shrugged and did it anyway. Excuse me?! Then I was told I couldn't make an appointment for testing and that the lab was walk in only. That's bullshit. They do this to charge you as a walk in because they get more money from insurance, then they bill you for testing as Sti/HIV isn't seen as immediate healthcare. Which is also fucking stupid. They even charged me just to meet doctor song for 45min which she was already 1hr late to my appointment. So screw them and everyone else, if I could I'd give 0 stars but I can't so y'all lucky you get 1. read more

Staff was very friendly. There was some waiting, but not bad compared to what I have experienced in other Emergency Rooms. They were able to diagnose my son's appendicitis, but weren't able to perform the surgery there. They arranged our transfer to Rogue Valley Medical Center.
