I've since changed my mind about valley electric, the woman I spoke with in member services was so kind, understanding, and helpful that l just couldn't believe it. I have recently lost my mother and she was so considerate. I hope valley electric knows what a gem of an employee they have there, I really do. It's employees like this young lady that are the future of valley electric and a better tomorrow. Hope you hire more people like her, it would go a long way in helping to give valley a much needed boost in not only public relations, but also shining up that slightly unfortunate tarnished image that valley has from years passed. read more

Valley Electric has got to be the biggest ripoff in Nevada. Lived in Vegas for 18 years and moved out to Pahrump to get away from there. Peace and somewhat quiet. My 18 years in Vegas I never had $200-300 a month electric bills. Are people supposed to freeze in the winter and roast in the summer out here. Found out recently that Pahrump is the number one city in the USA for retirees. Don't think that will last much longer once people start getting their electric bills. Since most of us are on SSA you would think they would have financial assistance. Valley Electric is a MONOPOLY and don't care about any of their customers here in Pahrump. read more

Moved to Pahrump from Vegas to escape a DV situation. Called Valley Electric a week before moving here and asked if I had an outstanding balance with NV Energy if that would effect me getting service here. I was told "NO. We have nothing to do with them. It's a clean slate." Called them today to start power after I sent in an application (because they make you apply first and you have to wait 24 hours to hear back). They moved me in on Memorial Day weekend and said they were turning my power off Tuesday so I really needed to switch it. The lady had to be the rudest person I've talked to in Pahrump so far. Said that I can't start power if I have an overdue balance in Vegas. And that they'll even call NV Energy to see. Even though I was told it wouldn't matter. She wouldn't let me ask any questions. I kept saying it's a completely different system out here than Vegas and she just yelled at me that it's not. All the start fees and hoops you gotta jump through out here are crazy. Especially when you were moved out here because you were in need of help. read more

The latest scam is to place "balance forward" on your electric bill and insist you pay it. It is bogus and fraudulent. Their next scam is to charge extra during peak hours. They are supposed to save money. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. The service is so unreliable that not only does it go off randomly for hours, but then it blinks on and off until anything with a wifi connection has to be completely reconnected. There is never communication or a reason for the problem explained. Don't bother with their solar, and if you want solar from somewhere else, good luck. They will delay any chance they get and even tell lies to further the delay. They actually told me I didn't have to pay for some ransom check they demanded, but I did. Fortunately I didn't believe them and paid, but they got me in other areas. It took over 6 months. Ridiculous and a waste of time and energy. read more

I called Valley Electric a week ago for internet service. I wanted to condense my bill to one bank withdrawal a month and get that better service that they falsely advertise. They advertised fiberoptic service, which is not true. That only includes one small upper/middle neighborhood in the entire valley. He said that it will be another year before we get fiber, which they have been saying for years. The technician arrived at my house to install it today and told me generally they have better reception in the area after I questioned why he wasn't doing fiberoptic as advertised. Turns out they don't even have it except for a privileged community, The Falls. He disconnected my Rise Internet just to find out the Valley Electric system had 0 (Zero Reception here) IN TOWN! So, he had to admit there was no alternative except to hook up Rise Internet again and put the Rise satellite back on my house and reconnect it. I wanted to be sure of that when I ordered internet, but they blatantly forbid you to talk to a human being and demand you order on their internet which is as incompetent as the company. I encourage the citizens of Pahrump to go to the co-op meetings and complain until we get new management of this company. read more

I am writing this review regarding Valley Electrics irresponsible business practice so it will be known that I've been penalized for being late but was NEVER, nor was I provided proof (because there is none). Instead of receiving my initial security deposit in December 2023 after waiting a year, I now have to wait until September 2024 to get my $500 deposit. According to the Valley Electric representative I made a late payment in Septembe, I was NEVER ever late paying my utilities. A Valley Electric repress called me today (December 1, 2023) to update my contact info which ironically I already did just last month. I have never been late paying my electric bill and the reason for this post. I was initially on a electricity "post paid program" arrangement which Valley Electric suddenly later suddenly changed thus requiring me to be placed on a "pre-paying" program customer listing. it was around August or September 2023 when they switched my payment plan arrangement. I want the residents living in the Pahrump Nevada to be aware of what to expect. Apparently it appears PAYING "customers" don't matter. If true I was late, it was a penalty for being late only one time supposedly. I don't see the purpose of holding my $500 beyond a year. I own my Pahrump home Nye county Pahrump. i hope to bring my concerns to the Valley Electric Board and Member's association. I will also look into making the BBB aware as this business practice. Hopefully others are also concerned so collectively all the responsible customers won't be unjustly penalize. read more

They did an early retirement with almost 20 employees, all under the age of 60. These retirees receive their full salaries (up to an annual of $450,000 a year) including benefits (up to $450,000 a year) until they are 65. ALL of these employees needed to be replace, even if they were replaced inhouse their replacements had to be replaced. SEVERAL million dollars a year, unnecessary. This saves NO MONEY AT ALL!!! Any replacement new hire waS hired under a new employment agreement that that could have happened anyway. Oh.... Early retirement package was put together by those that would benefit from the early term package(H.R. / Finance). The Board of Directors are CLUELESS what that cost the company. These people are getting paid for NOT WORKING, including insurance and retirement benefits They are BROKE and passing it on to the members. Something needs to be done!!! read more

GOT solar and they for "some reason" are slow-balling the hook up and actually placed a lock box on the system in October. The system was ready in September. Reasons? The initial Vally Electric guy quit and the paperwork was lost. So we started over in January. Not a valid excuse to delay my solar as it is now March. It should have been expedited. And I'm the only customer in Sandy Valley that needs hook up. My reason they are delaying service? During the winter months I would be banking solar....but not in the summer, so I am now paying a bill that actually should be a credit. And when summer rolls around I will be paying again as I will not have the bank. YOU NEED TO COMPLAIN TO THE STATE REGULATORS FOR THIS. WITH THE RECENT SCANDELS AT VE THIS MIGHT HELP. I have lived in their service area and have been a member of Valley Electric Association since 2003. Generally they have been one of my favorite utility companies that I have dealt with in my life. The electric service has been very reliable as is the internet service they provide. I have been treated with respect from their friendly and competent staff every time I go to the office in person or talk with them over the phone. Recently the management of Valley Electric Association has been brought into question. It turns out that the current board and former CEO were mismanaging the finances and running of the Association. This has caused a distrust of the management and the raising of the cost of the services to its members. They are currently making a good effort to clean up the problem and be much more transparent to the membership. This company is still good to do business with overall. read more

Lost power in some rooms at midnight, freaked out about different places having power, called Valley electric and they showed in less than 30 mins, found the problem, and it was a big one! they tried leaving a machine on the side of the house for temp. power and found that would not work due to the nature of the damage. At least 5 trucks showed up with 2 men per truck and pulled a line from the transformer in the back of the property to the house, a little more than an acre to supply us with power until they can get the contractor out to re-do the old electrical and bring it up to code and better than it was. I cannot say enough good tings about the men that showed up in the cold wind and worked together while taking the time to explain everything to me as they worked. THEY WERE AMAZING! All of them courteous and polite? I also have have the internet with them and have had nothing but good service and any time I have had a problem (probably twice in over a year) they were on it and made it great. They have the worst customer service that I have ever seen! I have been trying for 45 minutes to pay my electric and Wi-Fi bill! I don't want to have to go down to their office, I HAVE BETTER AND MORE URGENT THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE THAN SITTING ON THE PHONE FOR 45 MINUTES TRYING TO PAY A BILL THAT SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES! The automated system for payment is unusable! This was a co-op wasn't it? Oh that's right, I forgot, we are in pahrump. A place where nothing ever functions normally.UPDATE: It's been 2 hours got no call back, had to call again and was told no problem we will get you taken care. So I was transferred to the automated system yet again and it is not functioning and there's no way to get an agent. If there were competition in this town they would most definitely get my business. What a wreck this outfit is. It's not enough that they ripped off the people in the co-op, but they have to give them lousy service as well. Talk about rubbing their faces in it. No wonder people are moving, but that's alright isn't it? Because they will just get a whole new crop of victims. Sickening. read more

This place is a scam. When I first wanted to open an account with them they told me I needed to pay almost a grand for a deposit because it was based off of previous use from the last people. Which was 9 years before. The property didn't have a house on it for many years after that and still doesn't. I just wanted basic service for my camper while visiting the area for a few months. Wound up doing the prepay method and they wanted $240 to activate. That was $120 deposit, 60 to turn the service on, 10 for membership fees and $50 for my prepaid tab of power. I was there a total of 5 months and it was time to move on to the next destination. Over the course of the 5 months I had to add money to the tab multiple times which isn't an issue but when I went to cancel service I expected to get my $120 deposit back. Nope! They said they don't do deposits!!! Wtf. I reviewed all my statements and sure as shit they do in fact charge a deposit as well as a monthly "basic service charge" of $8 Valley electric is a scam on every level. The office lady can say till she's blue in the face they don't charge deposits but the statements don't lie and neither does my bank statements. Once I get to my next location I'll pass my complaint along to the fair business commissioners office and see if they can get it resolved. They have unrealistic deposit expectations and they are not clear at all about what infact is being charged. read more

hi. well i don't know what to say. so far i haven't found them to be fraudulent have lived with them since 2003. I often feel the cost of service to be high, but then it goes low... it all depends I understood on where they were purchasing the electricity from. Regardless we all recieved a few buyout checks in the mail... i did not ag ree to the buy out, and do not really knonw what it means. So it could mean they will be coming thru at some point and putting us all on centralized water, or perhaps we will just continue with our wells. Don't know I didn't pay attention. To be honest I wouldn't mind good water and no tank or well. But that's me. But I would like them to answer the phone when i'm calling thanks. read more
