You get a shoe locker, and a regular locker. The bade pools are small. One warm and one cold tub... and yes its very cold.. A dry sauna and a steam sauna... I love that the shower areas are enclosed and more private. I was very comfortable to be in the buff than spa world and king. There are two rooms one is yellow ocher room and the other room is salt room. Both provide equal health benefits. As of today the ice room is still closed. The food is delicious. I got a large blueberry smoothie for $6!! I definitely recommend. For $30 its a deal. Schedule your scrubs early the book fast!

There's a $30 entry fee, which gives you access to lockers, a uniform, two small hand towels, three saunas, and a relaxing lounge area. (The steam room was unfortunately down when I visited.) They also have a café and offer additional services like different types of massages for an extra fee. The bathhouses are located inside each gender-specific locker room, and you must be unclothed to use them. One of the massages (only $100) actually takes place in the bathhouse, but I wasn't able to book it because they were fully booked until 7:00 p.m. The saunas were nice, but my top three highlights were: The food! I ordered kimbap and kimchi pancakes, and both were excellent. The kimbap came with a side of miso soup that was sooo delicious! The relaxation area. Staff walk around offering hot blankets to wrap up in. I was so relaxed that I almost missed my foot massage! The foot massage. It was everything and more, and the massage therapist was hilarious! A couple of things I didn't love: they initially assigned me a very high locker (thankfully my tall cousin switched with me ), and we weren't given an overview of the layout when we arrived. Even though the place is small, a quick explanation would've been helpful. Also, I was disappointed the steam room wasn't working. Overall, this is a great spot with amazing food and relaxing vibes. I definitely recommend it!

I had been fighting a little head cold and it was a dreary, cold, rainy Richmond day and I knew a good sauna was just what I needed! I sweated out whatever I needed to and I am sure the red light was beyond healing! Can't recommend this place enough! Do yourself a favor and heal from the inside out with a good sweat!

It was super clean, modern, and the staff was accommodating and helpful in answering all of my questions. They provide you with everything you need - towels, makeup wipes, towelettes, and even hair ties. My room came with an infrared sauna and cold plunge tub. The sauna had adjustable temperature and light settings. The sauna could go up to 150F and the tub was set at 45F. In my 60 minute appointment, I was able to do three sauna and three cold plunge sessions, so it was the perfect amount of time. I really love that I get the room to myself, so I could move freely between the sauna and tub. There is both a timer and digital clock, so you can time your sessions yourself. This place is perfect for all your detoxifying and restorative needs. I can't wait to come back!

*Part 3 Of 3* 2/1/25…read moreTHE MASSAGE EXPERIENCE: Once I dried myself off, I tried to put on the tiny woman's robe again, but the results were a nothing doing. In the end, I wrapped the robe around my waist and headed back into the room I started in. I could have saved myself the time and trouble by walking back to the room B.A.N, but that would be considered inappropriate and I probably would have been seen if I had. I saw no one walking back to the room. Back inside I saw i had missed a largely section of water still on my body. Drying off the water, I choose one of the massage beds that could be set up for couples massage. Personally, I prefer the solo experience of a massage. It's a me time thing. Once on the table, I found myself sandwiched between the fabric of soft sheets and a thin, but warm blanket. As a precautionary measure, I used my towel a a barrier between my naked body touching the sheets. It's just something I do at most Massage Establishments. I don't like putting my face in the face cradle, because people cough while in them and germs and viruses have a way of coming home with the new host. I either use a face barrier or don't use the face cradle/hole in the massage table. If i am asked about why this is, I normally say "I am claustrophobic" and that end the questions for that discussion. Some time passed between laying on the massage table and the next person who would be doing my massage. The Massage Therapist turned out to be a lady named Jen...at least I think so. Jen did not waste much time once in the room. She started with the preliminaries of needing and probing to loosen up my tight muscles. This seemed to take a while and I am not sure how much time was used out of my "50 minute massage." 50 minutes is not an hour massage and its very...oh, well get to that. Jen ended up climbing on to the table doing what I call The Cat Massage. She used her knees, arms and body weight to massage my upper and lower body. I found this enjoyable while it lasted. Once the preliminaries were over, sections of my body were exposed from the sheets to be massage. Jen followed her training of draping for a professional massage therapy session. Jen massaged the arms, shoulders back, glutes, legs and feet. This cover the 50 minutes and did not include the face and front of my body. The massage was okay, but I did not feel completely satisfied at the end of the massage. My body had only had moisturized by massage cream onto half my body. I spend time getting the other half of my body up to par before getting dressed. I still think 50 minutes is not enough and felt incomplete. It like the Baltimore Ravens performance of failing to achieve a superbowl appearance from 2018-2024...depressing and incomplete. Maybe I should follow Kratos's advise of "Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed"...as far as the playoffs are concerned...but I am digressing here. I felt like Strider Hiryū running down the ramp on my way back to my vichele. Thoughts were running through my head. All and all the $210 not including time was a bit pricy, but worth the body scrubbing and Bath for $130...If one chooses that as an option. You also get ten bucks off of you are paying in cash for whatever service you aquire. Keep in mind, it will most like have to be above $60 to get this $10 discount. "I could be wrong now, but I don't think so." I will be back here to do this again, but with the things I talked about in this review. I will have another updated review when this happens. Oh, and the missing ten minutes out of ACTUAL 60 MINUTE MASSAGE can make a significant difference to that individual. You might want to look into that. not a sermon just a thought.

I read the bad reviews before going, but I'm going to base my opinion on my own experience. I like that they offer discounts for seniors. My mom's admission was $35 and mine was $45. This is definitely very affordable, and for someone who cares more about the benefits rather than aesthetics or Instagram photos, I think it's worth it. I can see why some people say the pool water smells musky. It does seem that way a bit, but honestly, I'm not sure if it's just because the water is warm. The spa treatments are pricey, but it's understandable. The staff could use some hospitality training. The girl at the front desk was nice, but the guy could definitely use some training. The food is affordable and the portions are huge. I got bibimbap for $16 and shared it with my mom, so it was definitely worth the money. I would come back again, especially on my birthday, because they have a promotion for free admission if it's your birthday. They also have a bunch of other promotions that I don't remember, but they're worth checking out. Really wish they would open one in Maryland again.

The moment it was my turn, her entire demeanor changed. Instead of professionalism, I was met with visible disdain, eye-rolling, and a dismissive attitude. No explanations. No courtesy. No respect. When I calmly corrected her on an issue, rather than addressing it professionally, she doubled down on the disrespect. To make matters worse, she was not wearing a name tag. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it, which is completely unacceptable in a customer-facing role. I then attempted to address the issue with another front desk employee--the shorter, dark-haired woman with glasses--who also refused to respond when spoken to. This experience left me feeling singled out, disrespected, and ignored. Whether this was due to poor training or something more troubling, the behavior I encountered was unprofessional and hostile. Front desk staff set the tone for any business, and Spa World's front desk failed spectacularly. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others--especially African American customers--to be aware that they may not receive the same level of respect afforded to others.

It was nice to seem to have the place to myself for a while before more people came in. This was also during the middle of the week, but by the time I left the spa was pretty packed. It's also cheaper during the week, and if you buy a student ticket. The facility is stunning, making you feel like you're in the tropics. The heated pools on the first level were the perfect start to the day. My muscles almost immediately felt looser and relaxed. The massagers were a nice touch as well, just the press of a button gets jets of water shooting at your back. They have smaller pools in the larger one with hotter temperatures, and there are 4 on the side along the wall as well with varying temperatures. I enjoyed all the saunas with their various health benefits. The bar offered different frozen CBD drinks and mocktails. Kelvin was the man! He made you feel right at home, and I like how you can sample the frozen drinks. I got the Mango Guava CBD water, which has the same amount of CBD as the frozen drinks for half the price. It was refreshing, delicious, all with zero sugar. For lunch, I ventured to the 2nd floor and ordered lemon pepper wings with a side of truffle fries. Of course there was an upcharge to get the truffle ones. It was nice and hot, and very filling. I enjoyed the aroma room, immersion room, and peeks my head in the multimedia room. There were also numerous areas to lounge and relax as well. The third floor was the rooftop bar and outdoor heated pools. If you're looking for a luxurious spa day, Balian Springs is the place to go.

At Balian Springs, you wear a "modest swimsuit" with an optional robe and they provide a towel as well that you carry between the spa. I think that the uniforms at Kings Spa keep things more sanitary. I also don't drink so the bar options at Balian Springs don't appeal to me. I did try the virgin sangria and it was a lot of sugar. The body scrub experiences are comparable. I have tried the Gold full body scrub and CBD full body scrub at King's Spa, and the K Scrub luxe at Balian springs. All three include the body scrub with an exfoliating glove, a wash, oil, massage and hair treatments if you want. The services are comparable in price between the two locations, ranging between $170-$220. Balian springs is definitely a larger spa space, and you can spread out, but there's pool right in the middle so naturally there's a lot more conversation. I prefer the quiet of King's spa, but at the end of the day, a spa is a luxury I hope more people can experience.
