Carol's Kitchen was giving out prizes after customers would spin a wheel and they were also their taking $5.00 Donations for their Volunteer Business that cooks and serves meals, gives out clothes and groceries, and assist with community events, They currently serve about 3,000 free meals a month, ensuring that the Men, Women, and Children in their communities do not Go Hungry, regardless of their age, religion, cultural background, economic status or employment, and physical or mental abilities. Their broccoli was ready to be harvested! One of the volunteer POCs, Paul, was kind enough to meet with me to explain the whole process. I've never harvested broccoli so this was a cool experience. All tools (knives, gloves, crates) are provided. My coworker, her daughter and I harvested 12 full crates of organic broccoli. I've volunteered at various food banks and this is definitely one of the more challenging ones. Packing/sorting the peaches is a messy job and either that or the onions got some type of allergen on our forearms, making us super itchy. On the box packing assembly line I was given two stations so I worked like a dog as fast/hard as I could so I wouldn't let the rest of the line down even though I probably should've taken a break. It was like an hour long cardio workout and I was drenched in sweat by the end of it, but we got A LOT of boxes packed.

I approached him first and then the rest of my Family walked up. We all had the same address and I guess since my Daughter is prettier and younger than me, he chose to just ignore me and start talking to her. He said he wanted to help so we would all need to be on one together. He then said my Dad and Daughter could pick up but continued to ignore me and be sarcastic. He made it seem like I could be on one account by myself and they would be on another one. When they walked away he told me that I am not eligible because we live in the same household. I told him to put me on the same account as them and he was very rude and said he couldn't. I am not sure if he did or not. When I got home I noticed that ALL the fruit that was given to me was moldy and rotten. I had gotten bree cheese that was expired and most everything was expired for about 3 to 4 days already and there was a lot of sweets and candy....... not much to feed a family of 4 on. However 2 gallons of milk are still good for 7 more days. My Mother used to tell me beggars cant be choosy, but moldy/rotten food is like a slap in the face when your already feeling down and out. I thank all the very friendly people working and volunteering.

Told me all the food I saw was already spoken for. bummer A month ago I returned earlier at 8:45 and was blessed with a cart that FILLED MY ENTIRE CARS TRUNK... maybe a few expired items, but most were still quite edible. I don't 'get' the complainers about asking $5 for those.. you can just get a couple free bags too... some folks have $5 and some don't.. quit bellyaching, not all have the exact same financial problem.. maybe you get 100% free health bene's and others pay because they make 25 more a month.. again.. quit complaining and be grateful. life isn't fair in this imperfect world.
