Our goal on this trip was to hit the 406 for some food. However !As me and my girlfriend and my mom were out shopping I noticed the sawmill. Didn't know anything about it never walked in there. Thought it was just a saloon. After talking with a couple locals sitting on the bench outside the liquor store I asked if the saloon had food and s good place to go as it already had 4 1/2 stars versus going to the 406. They said hands-down the sawmill was the place to be. Upon walking in I know I made the right choice. The older grizzly bartender man was working his ass off. The ambience was good. The crowd was good. So many nice people to talk to. Can't vouch for gambling though. We' were gonna order the recommended fish and chips which is always fresh never frozen but we instead elected to go with the meat pizza pie. So fantastic. We got the thin crust version. Could've used a little extra cheese, but they have that option in the add-on. After leaving the saloon, my mom just kept raving about how great the place was and now it is gonna be our new staple as we travel up the West Fork. Well done sawmill. You earned our business.! Pro tip. Deface government property by decorating your dollar bill and have them put it on the wall.! if you find were they stapled it to the ceiling when you revisit you get a free drink.

We walked in and wondered if it was even open. There were lights on but no one around. We walked over to the restaurant area there was one girl standing there. She didn't really acknowledge us at first. I wasn't sure if it was a seat yourself place or wait to be seated. After sitting about 10 min I was starting to wonder if the zombie apocalypse happened here. Luckily a few more people came in and sat down. It was just awkward. The girl finally came over and took our drink order. It took her forever to come back with some water. After ordering our food it took about 30 min to get it. I ordered the burnt end Mac n cheese per the waitresses recommendation. The burnt ends were decent. I did not care for the Mac n cheese much though. My husband and daughter both ordered burgers and really enjoyed them. The fries were really good too. My husband and daughter really liked this place , I wasn't too crazy about it but maybe it was just what I ordered. The prices were a bit on the higher side. The portions were average. I liked the large fire place in the center. It's a very nice place to eat if you arent in a hurry and just want to relax and enjoy some time with friends or family.

Ryan was our waitress, and she was just such a cool person. We really enjoyed everybody's positive energy and good vibes. Awesome food suggestions. We split a blueberry feta salad, which was delicious. My hamburger was tasty - made with Montana beef, topped with bacon and fried cheese curds. For $2 extra I got the garlic parmesan fries. Yum... My husband ordered the fish n chips, served crispy and hot, Sawtooth Ale battered cod. We washed everything down with a couple beers - namely their super popular Dirt Church hazy IPA and Huckleberry Honey Ale. On our way out, we bought a couple 6-packs for later; the brown haired lady that helped us at the bar was super cool and gave us a couple stickers. Overall, a great experience. Next time we pass through Hamilton, I hope to come back :)

Sometimes these types of beers can be pretty sugary and be a bit much. But that wasn't a problem with Huckleberry Honey Ale. Yes, it was sweet. No doubt about it but it wasn't it's dominant feature which was great and made this fruit beer a fun one to drink. Flavors to play around on your tongue with this beverage are sweet, fruity, honey and subtle. The subtle is probably the mechanism at play where nothing comes off too heavy handed , making the flavor profile well balanced. The beer is light bodied which is great as the summer time temps crank up the thermometer the light bodied beers are most appreciated.
