The panoramic views of the hills and coastline are gorgeous, and there are several nearby trails if you want to turn it into a longer hike. It can get busy on weekends, but the views make it worth it. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and go on a clear day--sunset is especially beautiful! Definitely recommend for a quick scenic hike, photos, or a peaceful outdoor escape.

On the right side is a shallow sea cave, the cave itself isn't so deep but the rock formations around it are super unique and interesting. There is a viewpoint on top we saw people at so you can park a lot closer than we did. On the left you can go all the way down to another beach. There is an interesting rock shelf along the way. Some of the waves were quite high so I recommend coming with swim shorts if you are coming all the way to this area. The rock shelf area has mini tidepools to check out, depending on the weather you might also see a mini waterfall.

This spot has held a magical captive hold on our hearts since we were teenagers; over the years, we discovered we had both independently drifted to this exact location time and time again. The winding walking paths and sweeping ocean vistas are all you need to truly embrace the essence of the California coast. The park is a tapestry of hidden beach coves, dramatic cliffs, swaying palm trees, and unforgettable sunsets. Years ago, my sister captured this magic in a lovely oil painting of the staircase leading down to one of the coves on Cliff Drive. Following our trip, she surprised me with the original artwork. I cannot wait to hang it on my wall at home so I can forever look back on the beauty of this place. It is a cherished haven that I will hold close to my heart forever.

I especially like coming here around sunset. The light over the ocean is beautiful and it's a great place for photos or just to sit and enjoy the view. There are also grassy areas that are perfect for a small picnic while watching the ocean. Parking is usually metered nearby, but the park itself is free to visit. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Laguna Beach.

Make sure you wear a hat. The weather was lovely though overall because there was a breeze coming in from the ocean. The biggest disappointment was that there were several E bike riders and not only were they loud but very fast and disruptive. There is a sign that says no E bikes, but nobody was enforcing that.

I could even see all the way to Catalina last time I visited. The El Moro Canyon trails are found inside Crystal Cove State Park and there are quite a few of them. They're well maintained with lots of info signs so they're easy to follow - but they're also all on AllTrails. I did the Short Loop Trail on my last visit which ended up being just over 3 miles long with 500 feet elevation gain. Most of the gain is in the first part as you take the "Poles" cut through and it's a real butt burner - but fun and worth it! A great workout. The birding is excellent here - you get a nice mix of riparian habitat and coastal birds as well. After my hike, I relaxed at the beach a bit and it was a lovely way to wind down. There are some tide pools at the north end and plenty of space to relax on the sand as well. There's a pedestrian underpass to get to the beach so you don't have to cross busy Hwy 1 - and this is the most unpleasant part of the park - you have to wade through some pretty icky standing water to get to the beach. It's ankle to calf deep and the ground is very uneven so I highly recommend water shoes - who knows what's submerged in there :P But everything else about the park is great - lots of clean bathrooms, outdoor showers to rinse off the salt and sand, shaded picnic tables, a huge amphitheater, and plenty of paved parking. Day use fee is $15 and you can pay by QR code or at the entrance.

We were told to get there early before the Los Trancos parking lot is full. We got there on a Saturday around 10:30am and there was only one row in the back with open spots. We opted to take the short walk downhill to the beach rather than wait to take the shuttle. It was a nice walk and there's a cool tunnel along the way too. The visitor center and gift shop were very nice. Everyone working there was super friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they love their jobs. The beautiful beach was busy but clean. There's a nice restaurant there with great Bloody Mary's and food. It does get busy on the weekends.

They have both wide fire roads and single track roads that you can choose from, with varying levels of difficulty. Everything was well marked, and didn't see too many people when I went. Lots of wildflowers and native brush everywhere, glad to see it hasn't been overrun with the invasives like many other parks throughout OC.

Sometimes I bring a blanket, sit on the grass, and bring some food to have a little picnic. It's a simple thing, but I always enjoy spending time here with the ocean view and the sound of the waves. I also like that they have bags available the area in case you need to clean up after your dog. I noticed there is a one of stations near the end of the street where you can grab them. From here, you can walk down toward little Corona del Mar and get closer to the beach. You can also walk on the sand, but personally I prefer staying up here because it feels cleaner and more convenient when I don't need to go down to the beach. Street parking is available nearby, but you may need to drive around a little to find a spot for parallel parking.

Bigfoot runs through Irvine, Crystal Cove and the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. It was about 33 miles long. Well, we extended it to include the Shake Shack at Crystal Cove and I renamed the route, "Bigfoot dragging toilet paper." We passed through the Laguna Wilderness Park and it was nice terrain to navigate. We were running out of water and the parking areas did not have water but there was the Nix nature reserve that had full facilities and what we needed to finish this massive route.
