Everything from scheduling the appointment, the friendliness of the staff, promptness, and overall professionalism is 5 out of 5 stars. If I could give an extra star for going above and beyond what other facilities do, I would. Before establishing care here, I lived by the UCLA Ronald Reagan Center which is one of the top-rated medical centers in the US. Having experienced their level of service which was great and comparing it to here- I would say here is the same level of quality but probably better if I'm being honest. Dr. Gibson's expertise in medicine is exceptional and what's noteworthy is his ability to explain seemingly complex topics in ways that are digestible and absorbed by you and me. I never feel rushed during an appointment and the doctor remembers everything I've told him which shows his attention to detail and his care for each patient. Sometimes I think it's easy to feel like you're just another patient at medical facilities but you won't experience that here. You'll be treated like the awesome human you are and realize this is how healthcare should be. I came here because I saw a great review on google and now I'm passing the good energy on because I can see why his reviews were so good & genuine. I met Dr. Kwon in the foyer of my condo complex and found out that we had the same last names and that he was a general practitioner. Looking for a doctor, I quickly made an appointment and jetted off to Silver Spring. Dr. Kwon's office was clean and quaint - lots of little old Korean ladies who hadn't quite caught on to the English craze here in America - but hey, it's a niche market and you have to cater to the customer if you're going to survive. Very friendly, gets back to you quickly, and doesn't talk down to you when you ask a question. I have kept him on (even though I've been using the VA medical center lately too) as my doc and will continue to go to him in the future.

I had just moved from out of state and he had been recommended, so I made the appointment for three months away. The morning of the appointment - three months later- I had not gotten a reminder call from the office so I called to confirm my 1:00 pm appointment. I was told the appointment had been canceled because they had not received my paperwork and had called to remind me about the appointment and the paperwork on three different occasions. I asked what number they had been calling. It was an incorrect number - off by one digit. Since I'm not in the habit of giving an incorrect version if my own number, it was clear there had been a typo when they input my number. I told the receptionist my correct number and asked that they honor the appointment that day. She said she would go and talk to the doctor. When she returned to the phone, she told me that not only would they not see me as scheduled but that the doctor had said they would not schedule me at all - ever - because they hadn't received my paperwork. While initially I was upset and disappointed, I'm actually quite glad it turned out this way because I wouldn't want to see a doctor who has so little compassion or consideration.

After a long and disappointing association with an oncology practice, my mother was not getting…read moreneeded pain medication or support for her illness. The patient him or herself can't make decisions about changing routines much less physicians. It pained me to see the daily frustration, her pain medication wasn't working. I consulted my own hospitalization's pages to find a doctor whose speciality is Geriatrics. Dr. Peter Schlissler is a prince among men. He had my parents and me in his office...cancer is a group activity, or it should be. The oncologist had no such office or family meeting. Dr. Schlisser spoke at length about my mother's condition and what we could expect. I told my mother to bring prescriptions in a bag, even empty bottles. Dr. Schlissler commented that these prescriptions were all but no longer used, it was no wonder that the medications were not working. There are better things and better dosages. I had tears to think that this doctor not only provided the revelation about the illness itself, but that there was better, pro-active treatment. Dr, Schissler wanted to examine the patient himself. You could see what kind of a person he is when he took the wheel with her wheelchair. He pushed it himself, slowly, chatting with my mother, mindful of her condition, respectful of it. More tears for me. That appointment lasted nearly five hours. He found that she had severe osteoporosis which no other doctor had tested for. He set about protocols to ease her pain, which eased our worry, he gave us a sense of control at long last. It was such a sense of relief to find Dr. Schissler and his medical practice. He restored our family by providing the respect my battle weary parents needed to carry on. Dr. Schissler is gentle and wise. He was there for my mother every step of the way. As surely as he told us at that first appointment that we were no where near ready for Hospice, he later wisely knew when it was the time. Imagine the dignity and grace. Anyone would do a family member or friend a service by having a consultation with Dr. Schissler and Associates. I arrived on time for my 9:15am (first appointment of the morning) to find the waiting room full! I did not have to wait long, but I would definitely recommend arriving early, especially if you are a new patient or have to fill out paperwork. I can only imagine that their schedules get backed up later in the day. Dr. Horwitz was great - he covered all of the basics, asked follow-up questions, patiently answered my questions, but kept me there no longer than needed. It was a perfect balance of not feeling rushed, but not having an appointment take any longer than needed. The facility is nice too. It is sometimes hard to find native English speaking doctors with clean offices in this area (my personal preference). I'm sure he accepts many types of insurance, but mine is Aetna HMO.

I will not speak to his technical abilities as he did not operate upon me. Indifferent is his overall approach. Perhaps it was a bad day. For me, the visit was a waste of time. I always called my patients with critical laboratory results. I had to call his office several times to get the results which also arrived by mail but not until two weeks later. The current Georgetown system is run as a clinic without physician guidance. There are too many impediments to direct physician-patient telephone contact. Perhaps this generation of physicians prefers it this way?

I had tests done; it took 3 weeks for them to respond to phone messages left 3 times within 2 weeks. They promised to mail test results Nov. 23 and a month and 1 week later, I haven't received anything. I would never return to this office. The ironic thing is, they have a health care referal counselor who provided references to doctors there, prior to the appointment I am reporting about. This was helpful, but the doctor's and the office staff's' responsiveness to me as a patient is medically detrimental and negligent. I am getting a very bad flavor from Georgetown University Hospital Center, which represents this specialist.

Will minimize or outright ignore your concerns both in-person/in-office as well as via their patient portal.
