We bought a vacation home in Atascadero about a year ago. We live in LA, so we didn't really know where to begin when it came to redoing the window treatments in the house. I found Brandon and his company on Yelp. He and his brother have been just great throughout our never-ending project. :) Valancing Act has been exactly what we needed, and we were thrilled to find a wonderful company in town to work with. Brandon worked with our interior designer to provide the exact shades we wanted for all the rooms, and also installed all of our romans and drapes. All of our romans are also on a remote to open and close them, and Brandon and his brother provided that system and helped us set up and get it working just right. We've come to really enjoy getting to know Brandon and his family. I couldn't be happier to have found an excellent family business to work with for our window treatment needs. A+ in every way. We had Valancing Act create window coverings for practically every room in our home. We got plantation shutters for our kids' rooms, roman shades in the kitchen and dining room, and custom draperies for the family room, office, and master bedroom. Every single purchase has been of the absolute highest quality and delivered right on time. I have received tons of compliments in particular on my family room drapes, which Joni helped me design in a way I never would have considered without her input. Joni and Bryan are the ultimate professionals, and nice people to boot. They respect your time (ie, they arrive when they say they will... which seems to be rare with contractors these days), provide great advice in terms of what will be most workable in a given room, and they deliver a superb finished product. On the occasions when we had any issue, they addressed it immediately and to our total satisfaction (eg, shutters that didn't close effectively in one room - due to a manufacturing problem - were replaced after Bryan contacted the manufacturer). The 1-star review from 2012 is unfortunate because quality window coverings can have a high cost, depending on what you choose. But we shopped around and actually found Valancing Act to be more reasonable compared with other quotes in the area. I recommend them 100%. We are very, very happy with all of their work. read more

At first when you walk in, you may not think much of the place, not sure what products they have, etc...however, Bryan and Joni are masters of their trade. I had forgotten they actually made our curtains 15 yrs ago. They know all the options and helped us pick out perfect shades for our home as well as some new curtains. I have expensive taste and am on a tight budget so I was very pleased when I received the quote for the hardware and draperies from the Valancing Act. They are very competitive and do quality work!! Joni and Bryan went out of their way to help me get my job done at a price I could afford and a result I love!!! They came and measured as well as troubleshot some odd windows I have with some design ideas and then came back out for installation. I did three bedrooms with custom drapery and rods first and then went back to them for some decorative curtains recently in our pub. I can't wait to use them for my living room!!
