One of my favorite things about the Hotel One Shot 04 is that it was close to some really great spots, including this one, a teahouse. I had no idea that the hotel I chose would be on the same block as a great teahouse--and you'd have to know me and my love of tea to know how magical and fortunate that was for me. I see that I only checked in once but I came a total of three times, and I tried several different teas; you'll notice that they have all kinds of different teas, including--if I remember correctly--flavored teas, but I stuck with high quality greens and Jasmine. It was not inexpensive, but for the kind of tea you were getting it was worth the price. I, personally, don't like having tea served with the leaves still steeping, it's pretty common though so I guess that's just me, but it does make me drink the tea faster so that it doesn't steep too much, which makes me feel like I can't sit back and enjoy my tea. Ah well, at least the tea is good. They also have desserts and ice-cream-type desserts, but these are just okay, you can get the same thing or better elsewhere.
The decor and feeling of this place is difficult to describe, because it doesn't have the feel of a cafe--the closest thing I can think of would be a 'salon' like in Mexico, which is like having tea 'en la sala' at your great aunt's house. It has the intimacy of having tea in someone's home, and so I found myself very relaxed here, apart from having to drink my tea quickly. The service was also good, and I found everyone here to be friendly, which is always much appreciated. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a really good cup of tea after so much coffee. read more
