One star for the front desk. I've been using glasses since I was 16. I'm 53 now. My prescription is mild. Even after four attempts, my prescription came back wrong. They wouldn't last two months in New York, but for some reason they continue to operate. How poor for such an expensive place to live. read more

I was misdiagnosed as they said I didn't have cataracts which I do have bad cataracts when I went to Dr. medical so I paid for glasses and I don't need because I'm gonna have cataract surgery so and I highly recommend Dr. Nickel. The whole is like a you buy glasses, you have to try to get you to buy the most those women are on commission do not recommend. read more

The doctor is skilled and very nice, but I HIGHLY suggest that you get your prescription filled somewhere else if you need eyeglasses. This is a fool-me-twice error for me but on each occasion, the staff was unfriendly, unprofessional, unkind, unhelpful, and generally unskilled. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I have been dealing with an eye infection/ something for a month since I couldn't get in before. I get there and am informed I'm 12 min late and they only allow 10 min and no openings. They can't help me, they are aware it's a medical appt and that I've waited for this appt for a month and have been dealing with this eye pain. They don't care. Don't go there. Sad thing is that I I was a patient for many many years. Now I guess too they're busy. I'll be moving on. read more

They couldn't fit me in to the schedule the day I called but offered me an appointment the next day just in case I couldn't find someone faster. They recommended another optometrist because my eye was really uncomfortable (scratched the cornea) and graciously cancelled my appointment when I was able to get in sooner at another clinic. while I was happy with my eye exam, I was very disappointed with the lack of service given re filling my glasses prescription. I chose frames & put in an order which I was told would be ready in 7-10days . After 23 days I called to find out what was happening to be told that there was a problem & it would take another week (on a rush order now). I paid top, top $ for this service & was treated very poorly with no call backs or follow up. I canceled the order took my prescription elsewhere & was given a timeframe of 7 days at half the price. Vail Vision (VV) in Edwards is a great eyecare provider and eyeglass shop. Whenever I show up for my scheduled appointment, I'm never waiting in the lobby for more than a few minutes. And the staff that work there are friendly & knowledgeable. My eye doctor, Leah Duong, O.D., answered all of my vision related questions without interrupting me to see another patient; she's great! On my most recent visit (earlier in the week) I have two 3D retinal scans done. This high tech service is quick, easy and painless. It's an added charge, but taking care of my eyesight is very important to me. That said, I've never felt pressured into agreeing to these more expensive services. Everything is explained by the opticians and optometric assistants that work there. The eyeglass sales portion of the business is similarly low-pressure. I'm never pushed towards buying the most expensive frames, or lenses, that VV has on display. The salespeople also double as stylists. They're adept at helping me select the perfect size, color and style of prescription glasses (or sunglasses). While my review is overwhelmingly positive, don't just take my word for it. Consider making an appointment at Vail Vision in Edwards, CO today. Your eyes deserve it! read more

Bad eye exam, bad business! I buy new glasses every year even though my eyes haven't changed much. I thought I would try Vail Vision. After an eye exam, I purchase progressive reading glasses but the prescription was completely wrong. In the meantime I wore my glasses with my old prescription (which is still perfectly fine) but the new prescription was completely off. I brought them in after the 90 day return window and they would not correct their exam mistake. I was offered a discount to correct the lens but I refuse to spend $130 more on bad glasses due to a staff error. Their cost to make the correction is the same whether I purchased glasses 3 months ago or 3 years ago. Vail Vision is a small business in a small town, during a pandemic, I expected better. Horrible business practices. There are some nice people that work there, but they are completely disorganized. My daughter and I went for routine eye check ups. We never received prescription cards as Vail Vision tried to push their prescription eyewear and sunglasses on us. I have never had an eye exam in the past from any other doctor and not received my prescription card to keep with me. To make matters much worse, we were covered by vision benefits. We settled any balance before leaving. We never received a bill but now are receiving calls from a collection agency over $25. Unbelievable! This place is a disaster. read more

They've taken great care of my eyes and even though I live in California now, I still try to fly out to see them regularly (seriously, they're that good) I'm jealous of anyone that lives in the Vail Valley - they get full time access to this great office! I've been a patient of Vail Vision for over 20 years. I always felt that Dr. Page cared about his patients and gave them the best options possible for clear vision. His staff was incredible as well...friendly, kind, and the customer service was great. I do not feel the same about the people who took over the practice. I don't feel important at all as a long term customer. I guess loyalty doesn't matter. Some of the front office staff is condescending, and I recently asked twice to have the doctor call me for a 5 minute chat and never heard from him. Guess he couldn't be bothered. I've gone to a Vail Vision for a few years and have not been particularly satisfied with the services provided. I initially went to them because they were the only provider locally for my insurance. The first time I went in, I visited Dr. Page. The computers were down the day of my appointment and he barely asked me any questions about my medical history. He gave me a brief/mediocre exam and sent me off in a pair of uncomfortable contacts. For the next two years, I visited Dr. Owens who was much more helpful and attentive. He gave a thorough exam and answered questions knowledgeably. Unfortunately, this practice adds on many "extras" that result in the 1 star review. They are constantly trying "up-sell" you to their expensive retinal imaging. Any time I've gotten a contact prescription the Dr. has insisted I come in for a second appointment to check the "fit" even if they are the same brand of contacts I've worn in the past (even though a second appointment is tremendously inconvenient). They gave out misleading and incorrect information about what kind of glasses are covered by my insurance plan in order to pressure customers into buying a more expensive pair of glasses. They've also made numerous mistakes in charging me for services and ran my insurance in a way that it made me ineligible for getting contacts reimbursed when I purchased them somewhere else. Finally, Vail Vision made a mid-year decision to drop my insurance plan, which has left myself and many coworkers with no local providers. The HR person where I work said that if she had known (since they randomly decided this in May) she would have negotiated insurance for a different plan. This company cares more about the bottom line than taking care of patients/customers or the local community. I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

Vail Vision has by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My girlfriend recently had knee surgery from a ski accident and wasn't able to drive, so I had to take her to all of her doctors appointments, including her eye exam. She has pretty poor vision and has been wearing contacts since she was a very young teen (she's now in her upper 20s). The doctors at Vail Vision, especially Dr. Owens, was extremely unhelpful and rude. He kept giving her contacts that caused an infection due to an allergy, but he insisted they were the best and that's what she should have. We kept asking for her old brand, but guess what, he would never call us back after a week and a half of trying to get in contact with him. We had to go into the office for the SIXTH TIME (remember, I'm having to take time off work for this as well as her) before he finally gave us what we wanted. What REALLY PISSED ME OFF was that when we got in there, he knew of our issue, so his secretaries were giving him our requests for a call, yet he wouldn't even pick up the phone for a customer. We will NEVER be going back to Vail Vision again. The service is HORRIBLE, the glasses and contacts are WAY overpriced compared to other vision stores, the doctors and receptionists are RUDE! I will most definitely do everything I can to turn people away from this company. Find another vision center that takes your insurance and go there, even if it's a farther drive. read more

I have had a few terrible experiences at Vail Vision within the past three years since using them as my primary eye care provider. Vail Vision was very difficult to work with in regards to my insurance plan (i.e. knowing which glasses/contact brands were covered, which were not) and knowing when I was eligible for glasses/contacts per my plan. I was told that I was eligible for both glasses and contacts per year per my plan....I was not....and ended up spending a considerable amount of money out of pocket for their error in recommendation. In addition to this, my colleague and myself were told our plan would only allow us a certain brand of glasses. Upon a simple call to my provider, I found that this also was not the case. In general, I have had a very difficult time dealing with the front desk finding it to be a nightmare to get any piece of information clarified or verified. In addition, Vail Vision has canceled their acceptance of our insurance plan mid-year without much notice with many of my colleagues and I being long term patients/customers. All of this considered, I have used Dr. Owens and have really enjoyed working with him. read more
