This place is extremely close to my home and I so wanted it to be a mind blowing experience of cool culinary wonders coupled, hip ambiance and non-insulting price points. I am left a bit mixed. It is not that I would not go back, just simply a bit mixed in my review.
HIP AMBIANCE: Check!
The place is large, open with a funky bar, open kitchen, cement floors and cool music choices. Staff appropriately dressed, felt welcome by the hostess team and it has a good vibe.
CULINARY WONDERS: Partial check!
We went with the suggestions of our maitre de. The margarita pizza we had as an appetizer was good, but nothing we have not experienced other places. The dough covered fish as delicious and interesting. Really a special creation and the best item we ordered. A calzone of sorts stuffed with the most delicious fish. We also ordered their special truffle house-made pasta, served with olive oil. The taste was delicious and it was special...but I am certain the item does not warrant the price (see recap below)
NON-INSULTING PRICE POINTS: No dice!
The last item I mentioned was $400HKD and some odd dollars. Having dined from Venice to Vegas, I have a strong opinion about price and all that goes into a price point of a meal (ambiance, location, demand, supply, experience, not to even mention quality). For $400HKD, I expect fireworks and a touch mind blowing, considering we are talking about one bowl of carbs. The pasta was indeed good, but not worth $400HKD in my opinion.
Our final tab was somewhere in the ballpark of $900 for two people. I wanted something more memorable and especially for $900. My husband and I are glad we went and we even said we would give it another shot, for maybe drinks or their Sunday brunch. Although I am not writing it off completely, I am not clamoring to go back. read more
