Jonathan came out and confirmed that that was indeed true. Everything seemed to be going well. Jonathan was very friendly and polite. When it came time for the estimate, he told me it was going to be just under $3,000. That seemed like quite a lot to me for just changing out a blower motor and a capacitor. He also told me that my Rheem furnace couldn't take just any old blower motor and he had to order one special. He said that his company doesn't deal with Rheem because their parts are hard to get. I reluctantly agreed to the repair, which he said would probably take place the next day. Later, he called and said the part wasn't going to arrive for a whole week. This was during one of the hottest weeks of the year in Southern California and I certainly didn't want to be without air conditioning, which runs through my furnace and needs the blower motor. I asked him what my other options were. He told me the only other option I had was to get a whole new system. He explained that he could install the system in only 2 days time or I could wait a whole week and have him repair the blower motor. He also mentioned a 10 year warranty with 1 or 2 years of service from his company. I asked him about the brand and quality of the Furnace that he intended on selling me, which was going to be almost $8,000. He told me it was better than my current system brand and I asked to get it in writing so I could do some research. After not receiving anything in writing I called his company and requested the same thing from them. Shortly after the conversation with his company I received an email specifying the make and model of the new furnace. I researched online and discovered a few interesting things. Number one, Jonathan had lied to me about Rheem parts. I found out from my online research that Reem takes Universal parts and I would not have had to wait until the next week to receive a blower motor that would fit. I also discovered that blower motors and capacitors cost nowhere near $3,000 to install. And finally, the brand of the new furnace that was recommended by Jonathan was nowhere near the quality of the Rheem furnace that I already owned. I canceled the job immediately with the company and again with Jonathan when he called me to find out what was going on. I am still waiting for my refund on the deposit! My contractor friend and I went to an HVAC store and purchased a universal blower motor and capacitor for $180... and installed it ourselves in a couple hours. The system is working perfectly. I don't recommend this business at all. I'm completely confused on why they have such a good rating on Yelp, which is why I picked them to begin with. This was a clear case of trying to take advantage of an old lady in a wealthy neighborhood. Shame on them!! Update: I received a full refund of my deposit and the service fee was completely waived. I got a nice apology from the owner and a manager.

I requested a refund of the $800 deposit and he is only refunding $680 for "time loss to file" What a terrible experience and horrible person to work with.

So we hired JV Handyworks for a remote repair on a condo that had a fair amount of water damage, deferred maintenance and two live in occupants. We had a very unique project and we wanted to find someone we could trust to do a good job at a competitive price. We found VA AC&Heating on the internet. We got 3 different bids for the job. Val was the most knowledgeable, professional, and we felt a good honest "vibe" from him. We needed a mini-split AC system installed complete with all of the electrical lines. Val did both the electrical and supplied us with a better mini-split system than what we had originally picked out. His work is impeccable, clean and thorough. We love the finished product. I had a relatively minor leak almost 3 years after our Powur Solar system was installed by Guyou Roofing. After contacting them, no arguments, they did not hesitate to return with a crew who went over every penetration, and resealed them just to be sure, even though the leak was very localized to one area. They even repaired the stains caused by the leak, to our interior living room ceiling. Jesus H and the crew left no mess, were very thorough, and he explained exactly what work was performed. No arguments, and no charges for the work - Powur Solar & Guyou Roofing are Class A companies that I would not hesitate to do business with again, and I will refer them to all who ask for Solar and or roofing.

Scheduling the work…read morewas easy online, and our technician, Paul Booth, arrived on the early side of the 1-3pm time window. They alerted us ahead of time so we knew he was on his way, which was helpful. Mr. Appliance already de-linted our dryer, but the exhaust hose and roof vent still needed to be done. I already knew about the fire danger from dryer lint, and knew it had not been done in awhile. Paul was articulate and explained what should be done, and with the senior discount applied the total cost was $279. (The service call fee of $49 was waived since we had the work done.) The price seemed a bit rich, but we were already in for $49, and we did not want a low-end company walking on our roof and doing this work. Sometimes it's better to be more confident about results. Paul took a video of him on the roof and the lint coming out, which he cleaned up. We could hear the snake reaching down to the laundry room so the entire path was cleaned. We tested the dryer afterward, and a load of towels that used to take 60-65 minutes in total took 50 minutes this time. That will save electricity, gas, and wear and tear on the dryer, so some of the cost of the service will come back to us. My concern about a potential house fire was alleviated, which was worth the price alone.

Paul came out to our house and was incredible!! He was very transparent on what he was seeing and in what needed to be done (walking me through the entire process of what would take place). He showed me video from the rooftop on everything that was coming out of that vent (it was a lot). And the invoice was $200 cheaper than my rip off from the day before! Paul was everything opposite of that other company and restored a lot of faith in trusting a company to do this job. Dryer is back to working properly and I cannot thank Dryer Vent Wizard enough! I will be using them for yearly maintenence moving forward.
