Review: Stray Love Foundation…read more I adopted a kitten from this organization on July 7. On July 15, signs of ringworm appeared on the kitten. On July 16, the kitten was taken to the vet and diagnosed with ringworm and began treatment. The kitten has been quarantined in a bathroom ever since. Today is July 27. On July 24, my Great Dane started showing signs of ringworm as well. My dog has never had any health issues, as he came with health guarantees from his breeder. The same should have been done with this kitten. Any organization advocating for animals should have them health tested and guaranteed for a specific amount of time. This was not the case with Stray Love. Instead, I had a kitten who is suffering as she receives rigorous treatment. She didn't understand why she has spent so long in the bathroom. On another note, this kitten also displays behaviors like pooping on her own tail and not covering her poop. This is a clear indication that she was separated from her mother and/or siblings far too soon. Would a reputable organization do such a thing? I think not. When I met the founder of Stray Love, I was under the impression that she had a vast knowledge of cats and wanted the best for their well-being. I was incredibly wrong. I notified Gayle Guthrie of the ringworm, and she said, "I hate ringworm! Some of the other kittens she was in a building with had ringworm but we saw none on her, sorry." I would not have brought this kitten into my home on July 7 if I had known that she had been exposed to ringworm. Guthrie did not tell me she was exposed, yet she knew I had other animals at home. As an advocate for animals and their health, Guthrie should have notified me. I am appalled at her actions, as I now had to treat my kitten and my dog for something that could have been prevented. I was looking for a kitten. Instead, I got unnecessary veterinary expenses and now my home is infested with ringworm. I will not be utilizing this organization again, and I highly advise others to use caution.
