COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL & I LEFT WITH AN INJURY. I don't even know where to start. I had a pedicure on 6/16/23 at this nail salon. All was going well until the nail tech, Paula, decided she was going to cut out an ingrown toenail on my left big toe without even asking me first. I had injured this toe a few years ago and the nail sometimes gets ingrown. Before coming to the salon IT WAS NOT BOTHERING ME OR HURTING ME AT ALL. It should've been left alone. I am an insurance claims specialist and I deal with nail salon claims all the time where people get infections from things like this happening. BESIDES THE FACT that cutting out or removing an ingrown toenail is A MEDICAL PROCEDURE. The nail salon employees are not qualified to do this type of medical procedure. Then I tell her "ouch that really hurts" and SHE CONTINUES TO TRY AND CUT IT OUT. All the while using other unclean nail tools she grabbed from other nail stations at the pedicure area. Not cleansed or sterilized. I was saying "ow" and making faces and pulling my foot back away from her. KNOWING she shouldn't have even started this. If you've ever had ingrown toenails you know that if you start to cut it out and then stop, the jagged edge will still go into the skin and possibly create a bigger problem. So after she messed with the ingrown 5 or 6 times she said "sorry" and "if it hurts after 3 days to call her, it should only hurt for the next 2 days." Like what?! I paid $50 for a pedicure that says $45 on their price board, tipped her $10 and left. I didn't even want to argue after sitting in the uncomfortable pedicure chair for AN HOUR AND A HALF after a long week, all for her to give me an injury. I get home and immediately clean my toe because I saw her use non sterilized tools on my broken skin. Yeah I forgot to mention I was BLEEDING. DISGUSTING. AGAIN I was in so much pain and I wanted her to get it all at that point so it didn't make it worse. Fast forward to the next day. I wake up and my toe is infected. Shocker. Luckily I had some antibiotic ointment from this happening at a nail salon down the shore a few years ago. I don't know why this is happening in so many salons. So I kept cleaning it 3 times a day, epsom salt soaks, and applying the ointment and bandage. It's now Monday. It's slowly getting better due to my own care, but it is still painful and not resolved. So I go to call the salon this morning. I ask for the owner and 3 times I'm hung up on. The 4th call I'm told "the owner is on vacation and i don't know when she's coming back". I call BULL. If you're working at ANY job and the person in charge, owner, or manager, is away on vacation, you as an employee KNOW when they'll be back. So I was lied to and hung up on again for the 4th time. The 5th time I call I ask for a manager. "No manager here today." So I again ask when the manager will be there, tell them I've been hung up on 4 times now. They say "I don't know" and hang up again. I ask to speak with the owner due to a service I had. I was not yelling or rude I just kept saying "please stop hanging up on me, I need to speak with an owner or manager or tell me when they're back please." EVEN if they didn't want to provide that information. They could've said can I take your number and have them call you back? Nothing. To top it all off I was supposed to go down the shore Saturday to celebrate my cousins 25th birthday and I had to stay home due to now I have a painful and infected toe. My weekend was ruined. Also, I went in there at 6pm on 6/16/23. ONE HOUR before they close. I was seated in a pedi chair within a few minutes and started. My torturous pedicure still was still going on at 7:20pm. An hour and twenty minutes for a pedi. Then as they closed at 7pm the 6-7 other nail techs were laughing SCREAMING and carrying on very loudly in the middle of the salon. It was very loud and unpleasant as I came there to relax and be pampered and to get a pretty pedicure. No. That is the furthest thing from what I got. I understand they closed at 7, but me and one other customer were still there getting a service.
UPDATE: The salon owner reached out to me and rectified the situation, took accountability and offered me a full refund. She seemed genuinely apologetic and was thankful that I posted so she knew what was going on. She asked me how I was doing and apologized for the hang ups when I tried calling the salon on Monday. She advised they do get spam calls but she will have her employees take a different route when getting customer calls to make sure it is legit. I really appreciated her reaching out and she wanted to make it known to me that they were not dismissing me mr the issue and that it could've been handled better. She also advised she would talk to her nail tech about not cutting ingrowns anymore and tool sanitizing. Just wanted to follow up and mention that she rectified the situation and it was appreciated by me. read more
