Tammy does the latest style nails & Tina will give you the best eyebrow wax. They all make you feel welcome. You will never feel uncomfortable or like someone is talking about you in a diff language. As a poor college student I don't often get my nails done. However, for my birthday one of my girlfriends took me to get a mani pedi and we hit up SJ Nails. First off this place is popping on a Saturday afternoon, but they were still able to hook us up even though we were both just walk ins. They looked to be in the middle of renovating when we went which is why I'm giving them three stars. They had all of the nail stations and pedi stations on one side of the store because of renovations, which made things a little cramped. I'm sure they are done renovating now so I'll have to check it out. Now, onto the deets. The prices here are very reasonable, they even have STUDENT DISCOUNTS. Can we just say my poor college self was stoked at the thought. If I knew I could get discounts at the nail salon for being a student I never would have stopped getting my nails done! Seriously, I graduate in December I need to make up for lost time. On a serious note, I will definitely be returning to SJ Nails it's not overly pricey, they staff is nice and knowledgeable, plus they have a great collection of colors. read more

When it comes to sanitation and the safety of their clients they fail miserably. First time here and witnessed two issues that were a no no for me with respect to ensuring and maintaining good overall health. Pros- Received the dip for the first time, am kinda happy with the result just wish the nails were filed a little thinner. Overall not bad. Gel removal clip on's were different and cute. As majority of nail salons use the tired aluminum technique which is time consuming and old school. Inexpensive and within budget for gel mani/pedi as well as dip/pedi Cons- Observed one of the nail tech's the older Viet lady whom perform the pedi's, rinse her instruments off @ the sink then only place them in the sanitary machine for less than 1 minute.. Yes I was looking and counting.. Unbeknownst to me she was about to use those same instruments on my feet! I asked her how long do you sanitize as you only rinse the instruments with water not deep clean and/or bleach them then subsequently placed them into the sanitary machine for less than 1 minute. One can only observe this lady demeanor to my inquiry and to say the least she was irked, as she sprayed alcohol onto the instruments and opened up a new scrubbing brush. However, before doing so being mean she sprayed my left leg with the alcohol too. Honestly, I wanted to kick her in the throat.. In addition, she performed a 1, 2, 3 pedi and when it was time to rinse my feet and legs, the lady rinsed them with scorching hot water. I said, hey that is HOT! she just looked at me, and when the other lady working on my fingernails interjected it was only then she turned off the water. Again intentional and spiteful.. She also slapped the hot towel on my legs and not taking into account it was rather hot. So bad experience equates to no tip she was left with... Secondly, they do not clean the pedicure tubs after use or use liners. They reuse the same latex gloves...I witnessed this too! So ladies be careful. As soon as you're finish with the pedicure tub, and a different client request a Pedi, the nail tech's just run the bath water and in walks in the tub new feet. That presents an health hazard, and those foreigns do not care trust me! All that matters is your coins.. And oh, the lady Jessica did not clean my cuticles, all she did was file and buff before dipping my nails in the powder etc. And they began to chip a week after.. In conclusion, it is safe to say that'll be my first and last visit there, as I was not impressed.. read more

This is one of the cheaper nail salons in town and there are many good reasons why. There are a couple girls in there that do good work (according to my frinds that have been going there for years). I went with a girlfriend for a pedicure together instead of the usual place I go. It was seriously the worst pedicure I've ever had. She rushed through it and it was uncomfortable. She cut my toe. Forgot to put on my flip flops until after painting my nails. Then kept stuffing cotton balls between my toes instead of the toe separators. Seriously, she had to repaint some toes like 5 times. Her name was Tina, stay away. But my friend and her sister had an enjoyable experience. I usually go to La Moda on Egg Harbor Rd. I appreciate when I see the employees remove the instruments from the sterilizer packs. After my pedicure here, I didn't even see her clean them. Just right back in the box. Grossed out and will not be back. read more

Prices are always great ( I swear they haven't gone up over the years ) and the work is excellent. First time customer. Went for a fill and pedicure. The girl who did my pedi did an ok job. After my pedi, she had me go to someone else for my fill. I think the girl's name was Neena...or something like that. She was nice, but she did a HORRIBLE job! I was very specific about how I wanted my nails shaped (rounded and not squared), how short I wanted them, and that I didn't want the acrylic too thick. Her response to my requests was, "ok". Well after everything was all said and done, my nails were squared, and the acrylic was thick! The only thing she got right was the length. She attempted to reshape my nails after I brought it to her attention, and failed horribly! My nails are crooked, different lengths, and just don't look like a professional did them. The skin around my nails feel like it has some type of dried up chemical on them too! Definitely won't be going back! read more

I just moved to the area and was looking for a new nail place . The first time here he corrected the shape of my nails and painted them . They only lasted a short time before they started chipping and peeling horribly . I then called the day before to schedule an appointment at noon . I showed up on time and was told one of the nail techs called out and I was never informed . He then told me to give him my phone number and he would call me after his client was finished . I then receive a phone call 3 hours later . He not only ruined my whole schedule for the day .. but the nails were awful . Thank god I ended up going somewhere else ! So unprofessional . I went to SJ nails on a whim today with a friend. We both got full sets and pedicures and I got my eyebrows done as well. I am in LOVE. Nina did my nails and they have never been more pointy or more uniformed (I generally walk out of salons with one crooked nail). The woman who did my eyebrows wasn't too friendly but I didn't care much being as though I was in her chair for less than 5 minutes. In total I paid $61 for the visit which I was pleased by. In addition, they have a card that the tech signs off on shyer every visit and ok the 6th visit you get $5 or a free nail polish. Not much but some incentive is better than none at all. I think they have student discount as well. My friend and I were very pleased and will be making this our new home salon. read more

Do not go to the salon. I showed them a design and they assured me they could do it but when it came time to do it two different people tried and they failed. Instead of the flower I'd ask for I had some horrible looking Daisy. They then proceeded to tell me that the design I picked was too hard. I don't know why they didn't say that when I asked I would have picked something else. To make matters worse I watched the woman pick up the tools she used on me for a pedicure and put them right back in a drawer without sterilizing them. When it came time to pay they wanted to charge me full price even though they knew I was so unhappy. I told them it was a disgrace that I should pay full price so the woman said I'll take 15 off butvthe woman in charge of the place said something to her not in English so I don't know what she said but then she said Oh 10 off not 15. I considered not paying but instead left without tipping which I've never done before. read more
