I have been to other counselors and this was by far the worst group of counselors, I actually felt that they were dangerous for vulnerable people that really need help because they were so unprofessional and incompetent. The counselor at Bowie Youth & Family Services made my post traumatic stress so much worse. What did I learn from Bowie Youth & Family Services? That I will never waste my time counseling again, and won't recommend them to anybody.

The VA contracted this company to treat me for mental health. I later on needed some paperwork…read morefilled out in regard to my mental health treatment. I was told since I was no longer a client, they couldn't do it. I asked how much would it cost. I was told to provide my insurance information and do some sessions. After a session, I asked about someone filling out the paperwork. They told me to provide them with mental health information that the VA had on me. I informed them, that they didn't had any because they contracted the treatment to them. They told me they couldn't fill out the paperwork because they needed an example of how another health institution filled it out! That's insane to me! Aren't you guys a licensed health provider that provided me treatment? Why can't you guys fill out the paperwork based on the treatment I received? When I asked these questions, JMJ stopped responding to me by email! Very, very unprofessional! They charged my health insurance, then treated me like I was nothing! This was in November 2024. Til this day, they never responded back to me! You would think a company in the business of helping people with mental health issues wouldn't cause pain by ignoring a patient! They are horrible!

Their was no communication as to how my intake was scheduled (virtualy and what app), and when I called to alert them, the receptionist was rude! Then, i asked what the meaning of JMJ was, and she stated that it was the initials of the owner. Which is fine, but what is the name? Then, I continuously asked if an intake was a consultation (free) and if it would be charged, and there was no answer. I then canceled any visits to going forward only to find out that they charged me for a 30-minute review of the 7 pages I previously answered! I am calling seeking help, and all you are worried about to the dollar amount? Now I see why people who need help don't get help because of a lack of communication and moral ethics. I am a veteran. This process has triggered so many red flags! Do better! Be better! Stay better!

I was referred here by my primary doctor. I called on March 2 I was able to get an appointment for…read moretoday March 18th at 10:00am. I logged into the appointment and no one else joined. Called to check in and they're telling me they don't have an appointment scheduled for me despite me having the email confirmation. No one was willing to stay late or see me over lunch. No one cared or offered resources of where else I may get my meds refilled in the mean time. It wasn't until I expressed how unsatisfactory this was that they miraculously found a same day appointment. Very poor service. The receptionist stated this has happened a lot lately so how many patients are being inconvenienced in this manner
