The highlights are the wonderful Annapolis Professional Pharmacy on the ground floor and an imaging center for MRIs and X-rays. I've used all of these personally. There is a footbridge to the Belcher pavilion too. And from there to the main hospital building, but you will need to exit to the street and walk all the way around (unless you're an employee with a badge). It is really only for staff. Parking is not too bad if you just go to the roof. It is a big garage. Elevators are slow. Use the steps if you can.

However, even when you're the first appointment of the…read moremorning, you are looking at at least a 2 hour wait in the waiting room, and probably another 45 minutes of waiting in the exam room, just to see the doctor for 10 minutes. It's just not worth it if you dont' have at least 3 hours to kill (and there's no cell phone reception in there, so it's not like you can continue your work day) Also, I asked the stand-in doctor (as my real one was out sick one day) if she would sort of explain my new insulin system (I'm diabetic) in terms of alcohol. She refused. She said that alcohol was bad for me, and that she would not help me mitigate that by telling me how to do it. I pointed out that if I was going to do it anyway, as I refuse to not enjoy life, she would be helping me, and that she took an oath to do no harm, and that not telling me was harmful. She stormed out of the office--not what you want in a doctor. Last time I was there, I saw Heather, who was lovely.

During that time, I repeatedly requested basic parental updates and care coordination and did not receive meaningful communication for an extended period. I later learned that my son had made statements involving self-harm and substance exposure, yet I was not notified for weeks after those statements were reportedly made, despite having shared legal and physical custody and being responsible for his care half the time. I also became aware that third parties were involved in communications related to my son's care without my knowledge or consent, which raised serious concerns for me as a parent regarding boundaries, transparency, and parental access. After requesting records and clarification, responses were delayed and inconsistent, and I was told that my minor child would need to authorize the release of his own medical information, which further complicated my ability to participate in his care. Parents considering this practice should ask very clear questions up front about communication policies, parental access to information, and how safety-related disclosures are handled.

When my son was struggling, I didn't know how to help him, I didn't know what words to say to help his young mind understand what he was going through, to free him from his anxieties and fears. I was out of my depth and needed to find someone who, not only understood what we were going through, but who could help my son feel safe enough to talk about about difficult things. After I met Courtney and watched her with my son, I felt the tightening in my chest begin to lessen and I knew we had found the right person. She was amazing. Courtney created a space for my son where he felt safe and was able to open up. She started with a boy too afraid to speak about events that happened and patiently worked with him, helping him to find his voice. She taught him how to express what he was feeling, to no longer be afraid and full of anxiety. She helped him find coping strategies that resonated with him, so he could begin challenging the negative thoughts and replacing them with confidence and self worth. Courtney is a patient, compassionate, amazing therapist, and it is clear from the moment you meet her, she has a gift and that gift is helping children.
