Unlike…read moreBartlett and Granger, this small town seems much more economically alive and that may be due to its proximity to Temple just 8 miles north. This town was established in the 1830s and a fort was built and then abandoned. In the 1880s, the railway showed up which added to the development. Ranching and farming still are part of the local economy and there are some really good schools in the immediate area, such as Academy high school. There's not much of a downtown and the City Hall sits on W Main Street next to the railroad tracks. It's a great town that offers quiet rural living and close access to urban attractions.
