Their care brought immeasurable healing and support during the greatest loss our family has faced. A couple of weeks before my dad's passing, as his condition declined, I researched funeral homes to plan ahead. Many promising places did not answer or could not speak with me for at least a week. Cate answered immediately, guided my questions, and, at a moment when pre‑grief was unraveling my nervous system, my life, and my heart, she made a heartbreaking time clear, straightforward, and gently held. My dad was one of the most incredible human beings on earth. He endured late‑stage brain cancer and fought with honor and dignity for 20 years. In the end, the cancer took the entirety of half his face. His passing, though anticipated, came more suddenly than expected and was profoundly traumatic for our family. One of our final promises to him was to repair his face so he could take his complete and healthy self to heaven. It was ultimately the most important vow of our lives to him. Kurt, Cate, my dad's original prosthetist Paul Tanner from Huntsman Cancer, and Gene, the funeral director and reconstruction lead, performed a miracle. They reconstructed my dad's face for the viewing and made him whole again. The healing this brought to my mom and me is beyond words. We know my dad could see it, and we know he would have been ecstatic. The reconstruction provided so much healing as we prepared him for heaven and restored him to looking like himself again. The peace it gave all of us is immeasurable. Our family is Chinese, with formal traditions at the time of passing: timing before transport, cremation formalities, and practices such as cremating joss papers and specific items with the body. SereniCare honored every detail with patience, grace, and reverence, while still delivering flawless reconstruction. We also asked for his urn to be engraved in Mandarin. Sarah and Cate went above and beyond to ensure his name and the exact font were perfect, allowing us to honor him in his native language. Though he built his life in the United States, it mattered that we honored his culture and traditions. SereniCare respected it all perfectly. When SereniCare came to our home, they were unfailingly respectful. They waited patiently and gave us the time and space to grieve and say goodbye, never rushing us, and supporting us through the deepest grief. They were patient as we changed the timing several times because we were not ready to let him go, and they accommodated us repeatedly, making goodbye as gentle, supportive, and human as possible. We are beyond grateful for their grace. From the first call with Cate and Kurt, to the tender intake, the phenomenal reconstruction, the urn selection and customization, the viewing, the thoughtful accommodations for our family, and the aftercare to ensure everything was handled, every detail was immaculate. Most importantly, we felt so respected, cared for, comforted and supported during the absolute most difficult time of our lives where we didn't have any other extended family or network. This was so powerful given it truly helped to make the entire process feel less isolating and alone for my mom and I with losing a husband and a father with no other family around. It meant so much to us to not only be so respected and taken care of, but to have Cate and Kurt be willing to hold space for us in this process. There is just nothing that can describe the gravity of how much that meant. To Cate, Kurt, Sarah, Gene, Paul, and the extended SereniCare team: thank you for being angels on earth and for the humanity you bring to your work. What you do makes a universal difference in the lives you touch and there are no words to express the ultimate value you bring and how blessed we feel to have found SereniCare to take care of my dad. We are eternally grateful, and there is no funeral home I could recommend more highly than SereniCare.

I could probably write a book about my experience with SereniCare, but I'll keep it as short and…read moredetailed as I can for anyone else who finds themselves navigating the unimaginable, when their world is turned upside down forever. Honoring my mother included cremation, a viewing, and a celebration of life. We were able to create this at a price that I felt was unbeatable. I cannot express enough how phenomenal my experience was while honoring my beautiful mother. She passed away unexpectedly at 49 years old, and as her only daughter, and the person closest to her, I was responsible for planning everything, just as she had requested. You never imagine this is something you'll have to do at 32 years old. Losing not only your mother, but your best friend from the moment you were born, is a pain beyond words. My mom always talked about how detail oriented I am, and why she wanted me to take care of her arrangements after life, something I never enjoyed discussing or fully understood until it became reality. Let's just say I had a vision, and I was not willing to settle for anything less than what I knew she would love. I'll be honest, I don't think I was the easiest person to work with. There were many requests, changes, mistakes on my end, and last-minute details. Yet I was met with nothing but patience and care. Kurt was my guy. I even joked during the end of my speech during her service, "Where's my boy Kurt?" It felt like he knew my mom, he knew me, and he cared just as deeply as I did about how everything turned out. I will never forget having him in my corner during the hardest experience of my life. Sweet Rosy, I remember feeling immediately comfortable with her from the moment we met. She was the person who took care of my mommy's appearance and her cremation. Rosy and Kurt came to my home to help me piece together my vision for my mom. When she left, I knew she would care for my mother exactly the way I would have, and that meant everything to me. Looking into her eyes and connecting with her about what I wanted for my mom became a profound part of my healing journey. Cate was a comfort as well. From helping me fix an urn mistake to navigating my mom's very specific wishes regarding her ashes for myself and my three brothers, Cate handled everything I brought to her with grace, patience, and ease. Thank you, SereniCare. Please know the impact you had on my healing journey, especially the most crucial part, making sure my mom was lovingly cared for and beautifully celebrated. My goal was to create the most meaningful memorial and viewing I had ever experienced, and each of you played an essential role in that. While I hope no one ever has to experience the pain of losing their mother the way I have, if anyone ever needs guidance through after life arrangements, I will make sure they call SereniCare.

Utterly disappointed by this group of people. We went with Russon Brothers because my brothers…read moreservices were there 15 years ago, and so many facets have been disappointing. My mother passed in Austin Texas, I dressed and did her hair and makeup and Beck Funeral Home's cosmetologist and director assisted free of charge knowing my mother wanted me to do so. They also allowed us to follow them to the airport so our children could say, "bye Hammy, we love you." We were also given misinformation as far as the cost of flying her there (from Russon Brothers, who wanted us to buy the casket from them instead, saying the weight was so much less etc--it was exactly the same). In addition, they don't have Wi-Fi that even supports the "virtual services" that they tout being such a wonderful opportunity during Covid. As a grieving daughter, with 3 little ones, multiple high-risk people in our family and abiding by my mothers wishes that we stay in Texas to not expose ourselves during the pandemic, being nickel and dime'd by Russon Brothers on the very day of my mother's funeral--is a most despicable act of bad faith. Their guestbook still does not work 1 in 10 entries have been posted and we have had to call 4 times on the matter. We have had more than 3 dozen reach out saying after 48hrs or more their entries still do not show and with such little kids those memories and condolences are priceless to keep my mother's memory alive for our children. They tried to tell us that they just needed to be moderated and we know for a fact that's not the error. I signed up as a "subscriber" so that I could verify when people were posting in the guestbook and haven't received one notification yet. As if these failures are not painful enough my brother let them know yesterday that he and his wife would be coming up to make any adjustments necessary and I verified at 10am MT today the condition her body arrived in and I was told by Russon Brothers that her body was in good condition and minor touchups were no issue--And then they let my brother know--after the fact--that they were going to charge an additional $320 for those "minor touchups" and they didn't even have our permission to touch her--in fact he and his young family were headed there at the time they received the updated costs. We didn't even get a phone call first... and yet took the time ourselves to check in as we did not hear from them yesterday after they met the airplane as they promised. So they can't let us know if she arrived ok but they sure can find time to extort families on the day they bury a loved one. Going back to Covid and how they're talking about their safety. If we walk 10 feet next-door to their empty chapel it's almost $4000 more so instead of placing families in a more socially distanced and appropriate/empty venue they're willing to do so for the minor cost $4000-more than Beck Funeral Home and travel cost cumulatively. Mom's funeral will be beautiful because of the countless who love her and we will not allow Russon Brothers to rob us of that--but I have never been so disgusted by any business because the notion of let's call and harass them over finances that were agreed-upon and signed upon previously right before the family is supposed to come for a private viewing because what family isn't just going to increase what they are willing to pay to have their loved one most presentable on the day of his/her funeral. I wish we had gone with another funeral home or done graveside services only even in the middle of winter it would've been better than dealing with Russon brothers. They're so worried about plastering their shameless advertising that even when you share a loved ones obituary the loved ones photo is 1/10 of the link shared instead it's a link about their mortuary and crematory services.
