It seemed a tad dingy in there. This post office serves about 7,200 residents in the Blackstone community. There's a ramp for easy access and plenty of parking. They are open for retail M-F 9:00-5:00, and Saturday 9:00-11:00, with the lobby open 24/7. The usual services are offered, however, no passport service. The wood paneling inside is very 60's, but has those cool vintage brass P.O. Boxes. The dedication plaque marks the post office's opening in 1962. There's a gift card kiosk, neatly organized shopping supplies, some holiday mailing items, and a greeting card display. The post office gentleman that I spoke to was incredibly friendly and helpful! He chatted with me and other customers like neighbors, all the while being efficient and polite. He stamped my postcard and even took a selfie with me! Great visit! And they have passport services! This is the second time that I had to complain about our mail carrier not coming down my road to…read morecheck if I have outgoing mail. When I called, the person I talked to said it was probably due to not having any mail to deliver to my address. That's no excuse for not doing your job, it makes no difference if I have incoming mail or not, you still need to check if I have outgoing mail. This is not the first time that I have seen our mail carrier do this, it is almost a monthly thing with her. The post mistress said that it would not happen again, I guess that she lied to me.

This very generic, rectangular brick building really has little charm, which is a shame considering ma y of the other appealing buildings. If you look up at the door entrance, you'll find it rusted and grungy, in dire need of a paint job! This post office is quite drab inside, old and dreary interior with shabby linoleum flooring and unflattering fluorescent lighting. The antique brass post boxes are cool though! But, all in all, this place definitely needs an update and could use some TLC. As far as service, these small country post offices are friendly and accommodating! There are seldom long lines and the have Saturday hours from 10am-12pm. Sending packages, snagging a greeting card, purchasing stamps, getting money orders are pretty easy breezy! But no passport services or self serve kiosks. All in all, a pretty average postal service, although the building and cleanliness substandard. Amelia should deliver more.

Of course I found the little post office tucked away on a side street that serves this community of about 1,200 people. Named after its founder, Clark Royster, this was a tobacco town in the 1800's and is now a popular tourist spot for water and outdoor enthusiasts. The town hosts a Lakefest festival annually which draws a lot of people to this charming town. The first post office here was established in 1819, but now it's modern counterpart post office isn't much to look at. The post office is a plain brick building and doesn't have nearly as much personality as it's surrounding neighbors. Across the street is a darling Victorian house and the Main Street is dotted with cool architecture. Inside the post office was clean and tidy. You can use the kiosk but you need to have the package ready…read more I was not able to buy a flat rate stamp in the machine and the agent only had singles so I had to buy a bunch of them to use on the envelope and also get a separate tracking sticker. Not very convenient but the staff was helpful and I got it done. Plenty of parking. No sliding doors and hard to go in with a walker or wheelchair. It's also narrow in the main lobby area and the waiting island is also thick so i I recommend walking without one or using the kiosk. I give 5 stars because of service but I would give 4 stars for the accessibility and availability issues.

STOLEN PACKAGE. THIS IS A CRIMINAL POST OFFICE WITH CRIMINAL DRIVERS. A package sent with signature…read moreconfirmation and insurance from Langley WA and marked as RECEIVED by Burlington NC P.O. 2 weeks ago has never made it to the recipient!!! A personal visit to the P.O. by the recipient was met with stonewalling. No explanation given. 10 days passed. Package has not been found. By their own data it had reached their office successfully, but not the recipient. The sender asked their local P.O. staff, with whom many packages have been sent, if they had heard of such a thing? They were skeptical and said it was NOT normal, they guessed the package had perhaps fallen down the side of the driver's seat? And to submit a missing package report and to phone the Burlington P.O. Report was submitted. Calls were made from sender, during which they said they didn't know where package was, promises were made by Burlington P.O. for a call back which never came. Today, Monday September 29 several calls from sender only received a busy signal. The package was lost or stolen by Burlington P.O., or their staff driver, and they are reluctant to admit it. Sender is now filing an insurance claim. The Post Office should either admit they lost it and initiate a lost ticket which would enable the sender to claim insurance, or they should deliver the package to recipient. Very poor service, possibly criminal. Other reviews on Chamber of Commerce attest to the same behavior over the years. This should be reported. Sender BEWARE!!!
