Big post office, big parking lot. Expect to wait in line. Every time I am here there is a huge line and not enough people working. Today there was 12+ people in line and 2 people working. Staff is nice and know what they are doing they just need to increase how many people are working at the counter. Also self service machine was down today so I was forced to wait in line. Spent around 20 min waiting in line to mail one small package.

Worthless employees. Find people who want to work.

The phone number doesn't work. The line is perpetually busy. Useless.

I have…read morelocations mapped out near my college; near my job, and of course near my apartment, so I have gotten a feel of several around Chicago/Chicagoland. And all seem to have crap reviews by bitter customers for God knows what inner reason, and this location was no different as for reviews. As for this location it was my lifesaver because it was the only one open in route to my job, which made it convenient for me on a long workday. I have to say that out of the many post offices that I have visited throughout Chicago/Chicagoland this one was by far the cleanest, and classiest as far as its inner interior. I held back on sharing too many pictures because some post offices aren't too fond of it, so I'm pretty sneaky when it comes to snapping pictures. As for my experience it was positive unlike many other reviewers that have visited this location, however, I will return based off of how quickly my package arrives to its destination or if it does make it to its destination. While headed to the Green Bay Trail for a run, I found this United States Postal Service (Glencoe…read morePost Office) to be the closest near the trail while enroute. At the time, I had an eBay shipment that needed to be shipped out. I took a liking to its cute building which sat in a classy looking area nearby Glencoe Village Hall right in the heart of Glencoe! Via Village Ct, I was able to veer quickly into a parking spot rather than entering off of Hazel Ave. Along with its cute building exterior, the inside environment gave off a very positive vibe rather than a negative one. As I waited to be seen, I adored the postal clerks' interaction with a customer ahead of me, who had a young daughter. The interaction appeared so genuine which put a smile on my face immediately while in line and as I moved towards the counter to be helped. As someone who visits post offices regularly whether it be for Poshmark or eBay shipments, the postal clerk presented one of the friendliest vibes I have ever encountered at any post office location. After giving the clerk my package, he questioned me if it had anything liquid or hazardous inside then explained to me the shipment options for my package which I always choose the cheapest, hehe. As a Poshmark Ambassador on Poshmark, and someone with a 100% positive feedback rating on eBay as long as the package gets to my buyer I am always satisfied. I was on my way in minutes. I am terrible at doing the surveys pertaining to my visits at post offices, but best believe I always share some sort of a review. Being that I had a great experience, I would gladly utilize this United States Postal Service (Glencoe Post Office) again when in the area. ~ Embrace the journey. ~ Thomas G

The line wasn't terribly long, though there always seems to be a person who has some more complicated postal issue they're resolving. Whilst I was standing in line behind one other person, two or three others got in line behind me in quick succession and another employee came over to open another window, so I was helped within 5 minutes or so of getting in line. The woman who helped me was courteous , efficient, and unlike almost every other employee I encounter at a post office didn't seem to hate her job or hate the people who come to the post office and make her have to do her job. Unfortunately I didn't get her name because I figured it would be on the receipt, but it wasn't. Anyway, thanks for defying almost seems to be a post office mandate to be as unpleasant as possible, Woman at the Window! Totally unrelated to the post office itself, there were a dozen or more house sparrows flitting around in the bushes and on the window ledges at the post office this morning. Cheerful send off on a lovely, unseasonably warm November morning.

Dear Postmaster General Steiner:…read more There have been so many problems and issues at the 2 Skokie locations with my mail and packages, and then Customer Service issues both at 9318 Skokie Blvd., as well as at the main Skokie Post Office located at 4950 Madison St. I am sure there are records already in your system from other customers. I have had so many problems that I should have contacted you sooner, but something happened today that I wanted to make you aware of. Something I ordered online showed that the item had arrived at the Post Office where my P.O. Box is on Sat. 8/28 at 7:31 am, but the scan did not show it was delivered. It was USPS Ground Advantage tracking number 9400 1081 0624 4473 0467 44 When I went to my P.O. Box on Tue. 9/1, it was not there, then today 9/2, it was not there either, and this is when I first brought this up to the clerk at 9318 Skokie Blvd. I explained what happened, she looked the tracking number up on her terminal and saw the same info., and then told me it was at the main Skokie Post Office on Madison St. I then drove there and explained what happened to Diamond. I go to both of the Skokie locations, she works at both, and it is not saying much, but she is far and away the best employee that you have in Skokie. I went over all of the same info.; she is a great listener, and then she went in back to look for it and/or look for someone that could help find it, since there was only 1 other Clerk working up front. After about 2-3 minutes in back, I could hear (but not see) her speaking to a male, and then I heard this man say, "maybe he shouldn't use the Post Office." This occurred at approximately 2:15 pm CDT at the 4950 Madison St. location in case there are cameras in the back and you want to figure out who the man who said these things about me is. It is very sad that anyone would speak about a fellow American like this. Especially someone like whoever this man is that said this about me, because at the end of the day, he is a Government employee, and my Federal Income Tax is supposed to go to things like paying his salary and benefits. I brought this up to two different clerks, both Diamond, and the other young lady who I do not know her name... just that I overheard him say this about me, but the first one would not tell me his name, and then when Diamond returned from the back, I told her that I had overheard this. I did not ask her who the guy's name was, because again, in my opinion she is the only good employee you have at either Skokie location, and she has helped so many times trying to fix all of the mistakes that the other employees made and has helped me numerous times, that I just did not want to involve someone in something that was not her fault. I have seen her help other customers many times as well while I am waiting in line. Even today, Diamond went over everything, it was just a conversation, everything both ways was respectful and a normal tone of voice, she apologized for what happened, which was very classy, but I told her right away thank you for saying that, but there's no reason to apologize to me because you did nothing wrong. (Someone did find the package later that afternoon, she actually was the one who called me to tell me that someone found it, and I had to drive back (for the 4th time today) to finally obtain my property. I'm still trying to understand why/how someone could say something like, "maybe he shouldn't use the Post Office." I'm not one to complain, mostly for fear of retaliation and time constraints, it is just that when multiple times over the past months things are missing, scanned in as delivered but not in my box or they can't find it, the clerks putting my stuff in the wrong box (2 months ago this happened with my Rx) I did not have the medication that day because of someone's error, and then I had to spend close to 2 hours at the Skokie Police Department filling out their forms only to be told at the end that their (Skokie PD's report) really did not matter; I had to fill out the form online at USPS.com for missing/stolen medication, clerks at both locations basically rolling their eyes at me and not believing me or caring, Tuesday 9/1this happened too.... there was another problem I had ordered some supplements, the tracking showed delivered but it was not in my box and they could not find it in back, then after 3 trips driving back and forth between both Post Offices, the clerk at 9318 Skokie Blvd. looked more and figured out that whoever put the mail in the boxes before the Post Office opened put my thing in someone else's P.O. Box, then the clerk just basically tossed/slid it to me and said sorry in such a sarcastic and condescending manner. I had a shitty experience at the post office in Park Ridge. Yay…read more I was driving by and thought I should stop and submit a change of address form I'd been driving around with for weeks whilst I was thinking about it. I'd started filling it out when I got it, but you had to drop it off in person with ID so I decided I'd come back since I was in a hurry at that time. When I came to turn it in on this day, the woman said I did it wrong because the address of when I wanted the mail to be rerouted (around the date I moved) didn't match the date I'd signed the document (which I signed just before entering). Nowhere on the form do I see anything about it requiring the dates to match--in fact, that makes very little sense, since someone might submit a change of address two or three weeks before they actually want the change to take effect since it can take that long for the mail to be diverted. So she made me get out of line to complete another form, which wasn't particularly easy whilst holding a one year old and completing it one-handed. On top of that, why is it just a given that the post office sucks? I mean, I promise that if visiting the USPS wasn't worse than getting your teeth extracted that they wouldn't be bleeding money the way they are. I avoid the post office like I avoid COVID. I thought that the post office was one of the federal government's handful of PBOs (performance based organization) but there's no way given how customer service seems to be of the lowest concern to them. The post office building is nice and fancy, and the parking lot is confusing (a lot of it is one way, which I wouldn't expect with a larger parking lot like this). But like most post offices, just gird your loins upon entering.

No. I came to the post office to mail the urn containing my deceased grandmother's ashes to a cemetery in Bedford, Indiana so she could be buried with her mom. This task was not for the faint-hearted. At the post office, I had to buy a box, bubble wrap, strong packing tape with threads in it; then box it up myself. Of course I got dust on my hands. The weight was 20 lbs and the cost $72. But at least someone will have to sign for delivery. People get VERY UPSET when the US Postal Service loses Grandma's cremains. On the plus side, the USPS goes to every rinky-dink unincorporated town in America. If they can't deliver, no-one can. I think I'll go have coffee now.
