The staff were friendly and helpful. They explained to us our different options for mailing an important package and I heard them take their time with other customers to exam options and advise them to return to the line after filling out the forms. They have a good system in place for efficient service to help the line move quickly. The two postal workers we interacted with were friendly, making small talk about where I was mailing the package. Since I'm originally from California and not that familiar with all the towns in Wisconsin myself, I was surprised they had heard of the small town I was sending my package to. Package was forwarded to some place even they didn't know. When I went in to talk to them they said they would look into to issue and contact me with more information. It appears after that they decided to return my package to the sender and have not contacted me. read more

I was just at the Post Office on Franklin St in Appleton, WI and had to fill out a form for something and so the sweet little old lady in back of me went up to the counter. She asked him for $4000 worth of cash or checks or money orders orsomething equivalant. As the conversation went on she asked to make them out to her. He explained that he couldn't do that but he wanted to know if she could tell him what it was for -- he was suspicious that it was a scam. The lady said a man has been calling her on the phone and told her he would give her a lot of money but she had to pay him $4000 1st. It was obviously a scam. The Postal worker was very kind to her and try to explain to her that when you win something you don't have to pay for it 1st. He asked her what company this was for and she said the man on the phone told her she can't tell anybody anything about it. She would not say what company, what man and what his name was etc. He asked her if this was legal and she said the man on the phone had her talk to her banker whom he just happened to have on the line when he called her. She would not even tell her children about it. She told the postal worker that she needed the money because tomorrow she was going to meet him in person somewhere and give him the money so he could give her the big winnings or whatever! Most of the people at the Post Office heard what was going on and there was a collective "Oh No!!!" when that happened. That wonderful postal worker, who spent 15-20 minutes talking to her, (I didn't care how long he took) told her to immediately call the police or go to the police department and tell them exactly what she had told him. She was very confused and he eventually asked her if she would like him to call an officer for her and she agreed. This worker (unfortunately I did not get his name) was working the counter on the afternoon of April 20th. I was extremely impressed with how he handled the situation and I would like to say "thank you! " to him for his kindness and service. read more

they break your stuff or steal it. shipped an amplifier. it disappeared in shipping. went in to ask for help. was told to get out of store by clerk yelling at me. if they don't lose your package they break it. I am now out 850$ and the amplifier. it was stolen by a usps employee. this post office has a long list of complaints and theft. my package was stolen by one of the workers. do not ship anything of value with usps, it will get broken or just get stolen. totally dishonest thieves then are rude and act like its your fault. so if you are shipping anything of value, use any other shipper but usps. the employees throw your stuff around and break everything. or the employees will just steal it. Steer clear of this post office (the main one at: 410 W. Franklin St., Appleton, WI). They have bad reviews on other websites (which I should have taken heed to a long time ago). No kind treatment of the public here...or any level of fair customer service here...just terrible nastiness. (It's obvious they have had problems before with their negative "attitudes" with other unhappy and disgruntled customers...and they'll take it out on you by verbally abusing and bullying you (even if you've had little to no prior contact with them!) (Scary people...) I'm not saying this is the case with "all" of their employees, but it IS the case with several of them. And, you pay for more than what you actually get with their P.O. Box service at this location (i.e. - they'll promise that your larger packages will be put into their larger bins in the lobby so that you can access it 24 x 7, but believe me, they're too lazy to walk your package down to that larger bin for you. Instead, they'll say the package "doesn't fit" or "package is too large", give you a yellow card in your POB so that you're forced to come to their desk during "their" hours (at their convenience, not yours), forcing you to make another long distance trip the next day...and they'll do this even when the pkg. could easily have been folded in half and put into the more convenient bin! (Go figure...) (But they don't care about what kind of service they provide to you...nor do they care about how they treat you. It's their way or the highway...(well, I guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere...and making sure I take the rest of the public's business with me as well. Maybe now is a good time to start a competitive business??!!! I've had plenty of my own customers over the years...and never in my wildest dreams would I ever treat my customers like they treated me!) read more
