What a lovely newly build library…read more There are three floors. The bottom floor is mainly for the kids. There are cute nooks to read in, a big play area, a crafting room, and a large variety of children books. I loved seeing the small enclosures near the computer for those with small babies that need to have a space for the baby while the parent uses the computer. The main and upper level are full of books, media, local art work displays, and conference/tech/study rooms. The one person bathrooms are super large, have hooks for bags, and are gender neutral. The library also offers a water bottle refill stations on each level too. There is a snack machine on the main level.

Mu ha ha!…read more I first started out in their graphic novel section on the first floor and let me tell you, it was the largest collection I have seen in my travels! I was impressed! I then went to check out their kids section on the 3rd floor, figuring I'd work from the top down. They have tons to offer the 'itty bitties'- picture books, chapter books, more graphic novels and audio books also! Heading down to the 2nd floor to check out their teen section (to the right) they have a comfy, informal atmosphere with bean back style chairs, computers and a spiral staircase that climbs upward to the 3rd floor teen meeting room. The rest of the floor is a mix of fiction and nonfiction, copiers and computers and magazines. All-in-all, I'm a fan!

Even the best of the great research universities (except the University of Chicago) have distracting party scenes that just aren't as big a temptation at places like this. Anyway, also like other liberal arts colleges, this one is picturesque with a healthy schedule of cultural events. Strong programs in music and arts, humanities result in lots of very good very affordable (often free) concerts and exhibits. The campus is lovely, though being a professor I prefer it during semester breaks when it's not covered in college students. Great college library. Appleton is an economically depressed de-industrialized town with an island of high culture that is this college (yes technically a university, but it's more of a liberal arts college). A unique boutique hotel in an historic restored building and a couple of good restaurants all in walking distance makes this a fun affordable two day destination.

They have small desks with a top and a couple of outlets so I can plug in my electronic devices and stay in the zone and not get distracted when working. Besides books, movies, and music they lots of computers so you can surf the web or work on a project/homework. All you need is a library card which easy (and painless) to get. I also come to the library to print some documents. It only costs $0.25 to print something (color and B&W) and you just give cash to one of the employees and the put the money on your account. I'm pretty impressed with the events and all the services they offer. I hope people don't think it's only books here, more people should support the library system here in Green Bay.
