This is such a wonderful library! It's a beautiful building in a great location, being situated…read moredowntown and right by the water. This library boasts a large collection of materials, as well as many useful community resources. The librarians are always courteous and helpful. I have seen them answer all sorts of questions without missing a beat, and they seem genuinely dedicated to helping others. There always seems to be some kind of activity going on during the week, and they especially have many activities for kids - concerts, magicians, movie nights, etc. They have multiple self-checkouts, so you never have to wait long (usually not at all!) to check out your items. It has a Keurig, sells snacks, and usually has a puzzle or coloring pages out to enjoy. It also has conference rooms that you can reserve if you want some more privacy while working or want to have a meeting there. As much as I love this library, there are some downfalls. First, the parking situation is kind of a mess - there simply isn't enough of it for how busy the library is. Secondly, because it usually is busy, it can be hard to find an open table at times and enjoy a quiet atmosphere. Because it has an open layout, you can often hear children screaming/crying if you are upstairs in the "adult" section. If you think about it, these "downfalls" only prove how popular this place is. Overall, this library is great!

My favorite place to do work, hang out and write. Always able to find a quiet spot by the window.read more

As a student at Lawrence, there were ample opportunities; I felt like I could be who I wanted and Lawrence would support me in my endeavors. As a student at ole Larry U, I was able to work, tutor, volunteer, intern, and research, which is incredible compared to the educations of many peers who attended top ten universities like UW-Madison or UIUC. The class sizes are small. Tutorials and independent studies are encouraged by the faculty. Professors really care about their students and it is not unusual for them to invite students over for dinner or happy hour. The party scene is pretty impressive for such a small school. The VR and College Ave. provide excellent options for nightlife. The Performing Arts Center is just down the block for Broadway shows to supplement the incredible performances that take place at Lawrence weekly from the Conservatory of Music. I feel like Lawrence is a part of my family forever and I am happy to say that I will be a Lawrentian for life--even if people in Chicago ask, "Oh, is that in Kansas?" when I tell them where I went to school. Lawrence gave me essential tools in critical thinking and learning about what the right questions to ask are. For that, I am eternally grateful. If anyone is thinking of going to Lawrence, feel free to message me. I would love to talk your ear off about this incredible college that changes lives!

Despite it being a 30° cloudy day with no students on campus, our tour was very nice. The campus put off a warm, welcoming vibe even on a day when students were gone for their winter break. Our son was very impressed by the facilities and the variety of course offerings and other opportunities and seems very excited to enroll!
